Upcoming Appointments: diabetic check in tomorrow, NST Friday and OB on 12/3
How are you feeling? Huge! Itchy, so very very tired. Lots of Braxton Hicks and I think a few real contractions as well. Currently I have a headache, which I also had a minor headache yesterday so probably going to send my doc a message because I know headaches are a trigger item.
Rants/Raves: So much laundry! It has become one of DD1s chores(because I can’t reach the bottom of the washer without difficulty currently), I am still folding/putting it away but it’s so productive to be able to have her switch/start it!
I have negative energy/motivation to work this week. At least with the girls out of school I can sleep in!

GTKY: What are you thankful for?
Good health! I have seen the flip side of things and I am always thankful for such healthy kids and only minor issues for me and DH. It’s been a rough couple of years health wise in his family and I’m thankful he sees the value in trying to take better care of himself.
Also feeling very thankful for DH today as I had to ask him to help with some lady-scaping and he’s always such a trooper despite the overwhelming awkwardness, regardless of the fact that he’s done this for every pregnancy and clearly knows his way around that part of me well.

Upcoming Appointments: had my last MFM today and my OB is on Wednesday
How are you feeling? Overwhelmed by not feeling ready. I'm being induced on 12/1. Next Monday. 🙃 but I am excited for baby girl to get here, for sure! Also just feeling super exhausted all the time. It's a little unsettling when I feel like she isn't moving as much as she used to, but she has less room so it makes sense.
Rants/Raves: I forgot how pregnancy messes with your teeth. My gums are so sensitive.
Questions: any advice for induction would be much appreciated!
GTKY: What are you thankful for? My family that always steps up for me. My brother and sister are amazing.
Upcoming Appointments: had my MFM OB today where they discussed the need for an induction due to my increasing fluid levels. Final BPP on 12.28 then Night of 12.29 for induction 🫣
How are you feeling? Same boat as @ bridgiebee82 with not feeling ready and overwhelmed! We’re excited and nervous. It’s a relieve to know a date of when things will kick off but now it’s a holy sh*t it’s happening feeling now. We know induction is the way to go given the risks of going into spontaneous labor at home with moderate poly. So we are thankful for that. Outside of the whole it’s happening I’m tired ALL THE TIME.
Rants/Raves: cervical checks sucks. I did one today just to know where I stand given I was being scheduled to be induced. News flash my body ain’t ready 😅
Questions: same as bridgiebee82 tips tricks things I should know about inductions?
GTKY: What are you thankful for? My little bubble at home who kept me sane over the last few months.
@bridgiebee82 I had a 39 week medically necessitated induction with #2 and honestly it was great.
I know some try like hell to avoid and are super against it but mine was so much better than my spontaneous labor. I don’t know if it was because it wasn’t my first and therefore my body at least somewhat knew what to do but I absolutely hope if I make it to induction this time it goes the same.
I went in at like 10pm and they started with meds (and I think a foley) to ripen/dilate the cervix and later pitocin. I ended up with back labor(used a tens machine, would recommend!), got an epidural sometime in the early morning and by like 11:30 am or so I was at 10. They didn’t end up breaking my water because my body was progressing on its own just fine. (They did break my water with DD1 to try to get labor moving and it did help, but it also bumped up the contractions)
DD2 was born at 12:32, 30 ish minutes of pushing where my water broke on its own.
You will probably have a lot of down time so bring entertainment! It might be awhile before contractions really kick in so there is just waiting around time.

@bridgiebee82 especially in early labor you should be able to eat and drink freely up to a certain point, and with the waiting time you may have like @thatbaintforbetty said you definitely want to keep yourself fueled in early labor. I brought a small cooler of a few open-and-go snacks that had either protein or healthier carbs, and a few electrolyte drinks both with sugar and zero sugar, plus my water bottle and an empty coffee mug for coffee, bone broth, water with an electrolyte tab etc. It meant I didn’t have to ask for food, or wait for food when I was able to eat postpartum, it was glorious. Even if they just want you doing clear liquids (jello counts) from the start or from a certain point, you may find you want to have your own selection.

How are you feeling? Big, sweaty, and so so tired. The baby kicks are nice to know that she is still doing ok in there, but dang are they getting pretty uncomfortable
Rants/Raves: I think everything is set whenever girly would like to make her arrival. I'm still playing into my delusions and hoping that she at least arrives relatively on time and doesn't end up a Christmas eve / day baby. My patience is wearing very thin these days, which is great when you work with patients / the general public haha
Questions: Thoughts on pumping bras for those that have pumped before - necessary? Able to get by with hacking the regular nursing bras and wrapping the strap around the pump flange?
GTKY: What are you thankful for? The ability to carry a healthy, growing baby and continue moving as long as I have. My husband for stepping up around the house, working hard for our family, and also putting up with my sass and attitude
It sounds like you’re going through a lot right now—both physically and emotionally. Feeling “huge,” itchy, and exhausted is completely normal in the later stages of pregnancy, and Braxton Hicks contractions can definitely make you feel worn out. Real contractions mixed in can also be overwhelming, especially when combined with a headache.
How are you feeling? reasonable in this moment. Pelvis still feels “bruised,” my hips ache a bit when I first wake up, aannndd I’m still nauseous and throwing up…the first two are fine not even a complaint but the barfing needs to get fired from the symptom list. But, with all that said, I’m really thankful to have my mobility.
Rants/Raves: if I could stop throwing up that’d be great. I bought all this food to make for dinner tomorrow and haven’t started anything bc I just cannot do more than two tasks a day or breathe food stained air 🥴 it all makes me nauseous.
Questions: I have two! One pregnancy related one not.
Pregnancy related: people have asked me if he’s dropped or feels lower. I have no idea, I feel the same? So I guess my question is, what would it feel like / what would feel different?
Second q: curious what everyone’s fave thanksgiving dish is, if you gather on this day / celebrate / eat the typical dishes ? And/or! any potentially unique dishes your fam/friends make ?
GTKY: What are you thankful for? my partner, the health of our growing family, and the health of both of our immediate families and close friends.
@californiacherry I carry low but I definitely noticed more pelvic pain and pressure. Sometimes you can visibly see they are lower(I had a mom at the school say she thought he dropped a bit, I didn’t think this kid could get lower but I did feel an increase in pressure in the hips/pelvic area) but also sometimes it’s just like you can breathe a little easier because they aren’t so far in the ribs. Or the kicks are in a slightly different location.
They usually drop at the end to engage but not always. The other mom in DD2s class that was pregnant had her baby sitting literally right under her boobs the day before she delivered. Everyone will carry a little differently depending on shape/size/muscle tone.
Also I’m a big fan of sweet potato casserole but funny enough that’s something that came about as an adult because no one in my family eats them. Generally we have the traditional turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, cranberry(canned!),rolls, homemade gravy. If I’m hosting and we have guests I make green bean casserole, I think it’s ick and neither DH or the girls eat it. We also usually have ham because my mom does not like turkey (DH and I love ham too so no complaints from us). I usually make green beans almondine or bacon Brussels sprouts for me.
DD1 woke up with a fever/sore throat this morning and DH reminded me that when his mom was here a couple days ago she mentioned his sister+kids who live with her have hand, foot, mouth which she didn’t tell us before she came over or I would have told her to stay away. So now we potentially have that to deal with at freaking 36 weeks and I am so far beyond pissed. We had to cancel seeing my family because the friends she is with are immunocompromised and I’m not about to get anybody sick.

@thatbaintforbetty omg I'd be livid. I'm so sorry. Like you need one more thing to stress you out. I hope it's just a sore throat and nothing more. 🙏🏻 I'm sorry you don't get to see your family. That sucks big time.
I am also not a fan of green bean casserole, except for the little crunchy onions on top. Everything else in it can stay away. We do traditional turkey, mashed potatoes, homemade stuffing, cranberry sauce (canned and homemade), gravy, and peas. I had no clue that corn was a traditional Thanksgiving side until I was in my 30s lol my mom was trying to simplify things for her 5 kids! The stuffing is easily my favorite part of the meal. I could just have that with gravy on it and be a happy girl!
Baby girl is sitting high as per my OB appointment yesterday, and my cervix is still pretty hard and closed. I'm still being induced on Monday, though.
Upcoming Appointments: weeklies at the OB with US next Thu 12/4
How are you feeling? Fine, pretty bummed I’m not with family for this Thanksgiving. Made that call a week ago so that at least I’d have time to prep a small holiday meal for us here, and it ended up being the right one because….
Rants/Raves: …we were cautiously optimistic baby had turned head down but at our Tuesday US they were still/once again breech, this time in a frank breech presentation. So I wasn’t crazy thinking I felt kicks up by my ribs, it’s just that half of those were actually headbutts 🫠 I’ll be spending most of the holiday weekend trying to flip them, but if no luck by our next appt then it looks like we’ll be making some hard decisions about ECV attempt v. guaranteed c-section at 39 weeks. I’m scared of an ECV that goes south and we end up with a crash c and a baby at 37 weeks (rare, I know, but it happened to a friend), but I’m also scared of hip dysplasia caused by being frank breech for an extended period of time. I’m comparing worst-case scenarios here so it’s not really fair. Right now it just feels like a lose-lose situation with no good options.
Questions:
GTKY: What are you thankful for? Despite their less-than-stellar sense of direction, this baby is growing big and strong and looking incredibly healthy, which I’m so so thankful for. I’m also thankful for our cats, who are seasonal snugglers but once again very interested in us (and our down comforter). Also also I’m thankful for dark chocolate peanut butter cups, the strategic consumption of which is just about the only thing getting me through the workday recently.
@aisleofviewtwo that’s a lot to process, on top of being away from family right now. I hope that the right choice for you will be made clear in the coming days and that you can enjoy your small holiday home today even if it’s not what you were imagining ❤️
@thatbaintforbetty nooooo ugh I hope HFM passes over your household and he feels better quickly. I’m so sorry you’re not able to be with family right now because of this.
So fun twist to our strep situation, it’s not strep but HFM 😩. My kids bounced back quickly but husband got it the worst, with an awful blistering rash on his hands and face. I have NO earthly clue how baby H and I haven’t caught it but I’ve been pretty much solo parenting her. I guess at least we have breastmilk to put on the rashes … cause yes we have 😆
GTKY: Just incredibly thankful for where we are this year. We had a lot of little heartbreaks last year and I don’t take this cozy, slow joy for granted.

induction experience: I was induced with my last baby at 39w and had a good experience. She just broke my water, I labored some, got the epidural when I hit that point, waited a little longer, and had the baby. That was my 5th and every experience is different. I tried to labor as long as I could on my own before the epidural. Not sure if that helped or not, but it was about 5 hours from my water breaking to baby and it also was my 5th. Im planning on being induced at 40w with this baby and I’m praying for a similar outcome.
pumping bras: in my experience, I had to hold The flanges to my boobs to get the best suction to express all of my milk or else I would get clogs. There are also hands free pumps out there which I have never tried but I have heard some moms really like them.

I guess my breathing feels the same so I’m gonna assume he is not lower/the same lol also I love sweet potato casserole but I only ever have it if I go to a Friendsgiving and someone made it - my fam/in laws never made/makes it. “Too sweet” for all of them 🙄 lol I love sweet but I’d be the only one eating it.
Green bean casserole is legit one of my faves on the table - I could eat the whole pan 😂 I really don't understand why it’s such a commonly hated dish!
@californiacherry I hate green bean casserole. I don't like cream of mushroom soup and I don't like green beans unless they're fresh out of the garden in the summertime and barely blanched. Goopy, mushy green beans is like, my worst nightmare. But I'm glad you like it!
