EDD / Weeks + Days: being in the single weeks left is such an exciting thing to see! Nearly there!!!! 01/19

    Team blue/pink/green:💙

    Upcoming Appointments: next week

How are you feeling?: sickness keeps circling our home. Other than that I feel good. My hips are starting to get that ache. Can't complain though.

Rants/Raves: I got my Christmas decorations up this week. Called out the chimney sweep and we are set for the winter. We just need to go score our tree! Can't wait to go do that. 🎄

    Questions:

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a real tree or use a fake one? 🎄

My fake ones go on the porch and the real one goes inside.

    EDD / Weeks + days: Jan 11 / 31+3

    Team blue/pink/green: Fake green

Upcoming Appointments: This afternoon for my regular OB

How are you feeling? Not great; my blood pressure has been steadily increasing and I've had a day and a half of consistently higher BP (diastolic above 80) last week; yesterday I had both contractions for hours (from 10am well into the evening), so I ended up going to L&D both times. I still have protein in urine, and this increase in BP is worrisome. At all times, it's accompanied by a headache and feeling "yuck" which is the best was to describe it. Luckily our L&D is close by and they're always telling me "better to go in than risk anything." I could use a break from that though... I'm not ready to meet this little one! Anyways, I'm pretty sure I'm starting to have prodromal labor which CAN happen this early for multiparous women. I had it with my first from 35 weeks onwards! (And then he still had to be 'evicted' at 40w.)

    Rants/Raves: See above.

    Questions: nope

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a real tree or use a fake one? 🎄
We're team "real tree" over here. Although, we've kind of been on and off with getting one in the past couple of years. We got one in 2023 (when our dude was 8mo) but then last year, we ended up traveling to Europe to visit family for most of December so didn't bother. This year we're obviously staying home, and my guy is starting to get really excited about Christmas so I'm excited to start this tradition with him. :D It's always funny getting a Christmas tree in California... we usually go in our flip flops and flannel shirts. Haha. (And then I post it to social media to make my Canadian friends jealous.) We might actually get our tree next week when my mom is visiting! The tree farm opens this weekend.

    EDD / Weeks + days: 29w1d

    Team blue/pink/green: 🎀

Upcoming Appointments: i’m currently sitting at the drs office for my 3hr glucose test 😕 cutoff for the 1hr was 140 & i got 140 exactly 🤦‍♀️

How are you feeling? i can’t breathe anymore! i wake up feeling great but towards the evening i’m constantly yawning just trying to catch a good breath of air into my lungs. i believe it’s because baby girl is measuring over 95% percentile and measuring 3 weeks ahead. my dr immediately thought it might be due to gestational diabetes which might actually be the case if i fail the 3hr test today!

Rants/Raves: these past few weeks have been incredibly busy, our daughter is healing well from her surgery but we’ve had so many follow up appointments with surgeons, pediatricians, and specialists. oh my. i almost forgot my 1hr glucose test last week, the pregnancy just kinda shifted to the background of my mind.

Questions: any one else excited for thanksgiving?? i am! i can’t wait to serve my plate as if i haven’t eaten in weeks, eat a little bit & get incredibly full and sick, then regret my decisions 🤣

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a real tree or use a fake one? 🎄
we do a fake tree! when i was little i always wanted a real tree but my parents would always say it was bad to cut down a tree just so it can dry up and die. i always felt bad for wanting one, and even now, i would still love to have one but i can’t bring myself to get one. 🥲
now that i type it out i’m realizing how sad that sounds lol
  • @littlebabybuster good luck on your 3hr test! I passed mine easily (2x this pregnancy - once at 12 weeks; and one at 28 weeks) after failing the 1-hr one at 12 weeks fantastically. That 1hr test has a very low reliability. I don't know why OBs continue to use it for screening. I'm hearing that some OBs do 2hr ones now.

  • @acleverusername thank you!! i’ve had gd in one previous pregnancy & i’ve failed the 1hr but passed the 3hr twice before. the 1hr test truly is unreliable. i’m hoping everything comes out good 🤞🏼

i also remember having prodromal labor with my previous pregnancy, it was so tiring feeling contractions that didn’t lead to active labor. it was so tricky! i remember going into l&d twice cause the contraction tracker app told me it was time to head in .. just to have them stop as i was admitted & sent back home. 🤦‍♀️

another thing, i completely relate to the christmas in California feeling! i’m from TX and we never have cold weather where we can at least pretend we’re in winter 😂 we’ve sat at our local christmas parades wearing our fluffy santa hats while our forehead were all sweaty lol
  • @littlebabybuster I'm so glad you're daughter is doing well. I hope you pass the dreaded 3 hour test. I've heard such terrible things that I fast to pass it and end up being so hangry! 🙃

YES!!! I am so excited for Thanksgiving. I am hosting this year for one side. I hosted 2 years ago and I finally have it down. I make nearly everything ahead of time the evening before and I'm able to enjoy the day and put very little effort into cooking the day of. I make 5 sides, turkey and ham and relish plate, appetizers and rolls. I make pumpkin cookies ahead of time and then everyone brings the desserts and drinks. We just got our 4th "free" turkey with coupons from the stores. I adore Thanksgiving, I love Christmas seeing the joy on my kids faces, but Thanksgiving has my heart. No expectations just grub and love.

If you want a real tree go get one! It's bad to cut a tree for it to die, BUT it's also bad for properties to have too many trees and be a fire hazard. 2 things can be true. We do fire mitigation on our mountain property. We post an ad and people will come up pay 50 bucks and pick a tree. It's good for the land as the overgrowth is unhealthy and a fire hazard.
  • @acleverusername ugh the prodromal labor is up there with the worst. I had that with 2 of mine and it was no fun. I never went in because I knew they'd turn me away. The time it takes to go check in get checked and then be turned away is so frustrating. I feel you on wanting that cycle to pause. Also with my 2 I had that with they came at 41 weeks and 40+5 🥴. Here's to a calm few weeks for you and baby staying snug for a bit longer! 💛
  • @emeraldmaybythebay yeah, I mean with my son, the prodromal labor started at 35 weeks and he still needed to be evicted at 40w. I'm just hoping my BP stays in check until the baby is fully cooked.

    EDD / Weeks + days: Jan. 14

    Team blue/pink/green: Pink.

    Upcoming Appointments: Nov. 20

    How are you feeling?

Achy, mostly, and tired. And I've had some headaches, but I don't know if that's pregnancy or weather related; these past 7 days have included temps that feel like 15° and then yesterday and today have been in the 70s...so who can tell!

Rants/Raves: While I agree that the single digit weeks are exciting, I'm also finding them rather terrifying 😬 I can't believe it's so close! With my first, I had her nursery almost done, I had her clothes washed and put away, I had things READY. This time, I've had very little desire to prep the house. My husband got out the bassinet a couple weeks ago because he's starting to be antsy about it, and I made him put it back away because I wasn't ready to change our bedroom. It's odd, but I'm feeling very resistant to changing our setup so that we're actually prepped to meet this little one...

Questions: Anyone else reluctant to reorganizing their home and prepping for the baby? Any tips on how to get past that?

GTKY: If you celebrate Christmas, do you get a real tree or use a fake one? 🎄

Fake tree over here! It's what I grew up with; my dad is allergic to the live ones, and it turns out I am, too! I love it, though! It's going up the day after Thanksgiving!!!

  • @marmalade0 I can so relate. I have not bought 1 thing for this little guy. We haven't prepped a thing for him. I have all boys and you are having another girl. I think just knowing you have the stuff stored is reassuring and makes it less of an urgency thing. Being your second time also it feels less urgent to get things going. You have this inner confidence that you may not even realize.

I focus on making it smoother for our kids getting everything in their areas ready etc. I am keeping my 2 year old in the nursery because you don't use it for the first few months anyway. We sold our bassinet so I need to buy one. Our carseat finally expired so we need a new one. Other than that and diapers we have everything stored that we need.

I would just suggest maybe going through what you have stored that you may reuse, so you have those storage totes ready when it is closer and you get that urge to ready your space. I did that when we were moving around rooms a couple months ago. I know everything baby related is in this closet not in the garage and it is quick access. That way our room can be just ours a little longer.

With each one other than our first (because of baby showers and the false consumerism beliefs that you need all the things) I just waited for my body to tell me when to nest. Your intuition is strong. You'll know when you need to kick it into gear. Around hospital bag packing time is a good cut off because you may need a few things from your storage. A few baby outfits, breast pump, the Boppi pillow, the lounger pillows NBs love. That kinda stuff.

Another thing with this season of baby, you have Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year so there is alot going on. I nested the latest with my son born around this due date than any other and I think that has something to do with it. If you have everything ready in storage, it's nothing for your husband to get things out even after baby comes. Just buy that box of diapers and get some detergent and you're good to go. 💛 nothing at all wrong with doing it that way. All baby really needs is you! 😉
  • Thank you! That made me feel a lot better!
