Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: blue!
Upcoming Appointments: diabetic check in tomorrow, NST on Thursday, 34 week growth scan on Friday
How are you feeling? Huge! Tired. Itchy. Emotional, I tear up so easily now and I hate it, freaking holiday season is the worst. I want to clean/nest but I have no energy.
Rants/Raves: I am pretty much out of Sick time for the year which sucks but I’m happy I made it this far. Trying to save my vacation time since I can use it to cover my health insurance while I’m out.
Questions: nope
GTKY: What’s been the best deal you’ve snagged on a baby item (on sale, marketplace, for free)?
A classmate of DD2 is going to give me a bunch of hand me down clothes but we’ve had hilariously bad timing in coordination of the handoff.

Upcoming Appointments: Just had my 36w with MFM and my NST. Next up my weekly BPP. Sadly found out I still have another week before we get a growth scan update 😭
How are you feeling? Tired. Annoyed. I’ve been cleaning/nesting like crazy. Like why did I feel the need to do a deep clean of my dishwasher to remove any potential mold (my dishwasher is barely a year old and has shown no signs of gunk growing). Or to deep clean my coffee maker 😅
Rants/Raves: I just don’t want to work anymore. It’s stressful and just plainly not the vibe. Like they gave me new clients even tho I’m on leave in 20 days. Existing projects aren’t being handed off properly and I’ve done all I can. I’m kind of hoping LO comes early to show work they’re F’d because they aren’t taking me leaving seriously. In which they will probably blame me for not leaving an updated plan…
Questions: None

We have a shop called ‘once upon a child’ which is a thrift store specializing in lightly used newborn to 8T clothing. They also sell toys, diaper pails, strollers, play structures, diaper bags etc. I’ve been going every few weeks as they have a 10 for 10 bin on Newborn to 18m clothing.
@thatbaintforbetty oo thanks for the notice on target! I do feel I need to get LO some early toys 😂

Oooh! I get a bunch of stuff off my local FB Buy Nothing page. The best thing so far has been a changing table. I actually got 2 from there. I had the first one for almost 3 years and it finally broke (it was like 15 years old anyway). And now I have a new one from buy nothing. I also got a TON of baby clothes from there too, including an Eagles snowsuit for my little guy. So many good things!
We have a Once Upon A Child near us, but sometimes the prices are whack. Like, 8 bucks for a carter's onesie. Ummm I'll buy it new then? But they do usually have good deals.

Upcoming Appointments: earlier today, then next week it’s going DOWN (if it doesn’t happen by then) … Monday is routine checkup, Tuesday is BPP ultrasound, & Thursday is induction scheduled for 41w juuuust in case!
How are you feeling? So relieved. We went into this week with some artificial pressure for a timeline from a few different sources and left my appointment today at peace with the next 10 days.
Rants/Raves: There’s a lot to the story but basically I’ve been able to lean into my intuition against trying extra things to start labor and ultimately supported (by my doctor, husband, & doula) when I’ve spoken up. Baby and I are healthy, is the biggest thing. MH and I are good in the wait, ready for baby when she’s ready to come, but also have a good plan for if she’s not here by next week.

We scored a free dresser top changing pad holder off of our local Buy Nothing page—such a niche item that seemed way expensive when I researched it just to have a designated place for us to change her downstairs where our room is, so free was all I was willing to pay lol.

We’ve had holiday penguins, dinosaurs, woodland creatures, nature themed, hot cocoa/sweets, some adorable fair isle night gowns that came with a matching doll version. This year they are gingerbread cookie themed.

How are you feeling? Tired, back is hurting, anxious cause of work and not being able to really nest yet. Feeling very unprepared. 😬😖😵😵💫
Rants/Raves:
Rants - body aches are ramping up and I’m so tried at work. Need to nap during the day but I’m in the office so not feasible. Feeling like DH is oblivious to my anxiety and what we are in for when LO debuts.
Raves - thankfully I stocked up on vacation time and have about two weeks that I can take before Mat leave. Also did not think about it but I have sick time which I barely use. Can start using that as well! 😉 spoke to my OB last week during routine check up and asked for a physical therapist (PT) recommendation (was recommended I ask from a coworker that gave birth about 18 months ago). So have to start looking for one that is in my network.
Questions:
Have anyone used a PT specifically while pregnant for back and pelvic pain, was it helpful? Any advice on picking one besides being in network? I never, until now, went / sought to visit a PT so I’m very green.
GTKY: What’s been the best deal you’ve snagged on a baby item (on sale, marketplace, for free)?
Free bedside bassinet though I’m leery of the “mattress” from local Buy Nothing Group. The bassinet is clean and I rewashed the removable items myself recently. But the “mattress” portion is literally a 2” piece of yellow foam on top of a 1/4” plastic corrugated board. Currently looking to get a newton mattress to replace the foam and have piece of mind that that baby is not inhaling the fumes from the foam that is currently there. Also, maybe it’s just my pregnant brain but the foam smells chemically to me.
I have a once upon a child near me and never been inside since falling pregnant. Last time I stepped foot in there was 2 years ago but did not see much baby gear, though I wasn’t seeking out baby items at the time either. I’ll give it another go over the weekend if I muster up the energy after working all week. 😮💨

@jta41 as a (not pelvic floor) PT, I agree with @virginiaham that a PF PT would be great to have as part of your care team! That branch of PT has really taken off in the past few years. If you don’t have any in your area, I would at least look for an ortho PT who has experience/is comfortable working with pregnant women so they are aware of any exercise or positioning modifications that are needed for these last few weeks of pregnancy, and depending on if you have to follow up post birth, are aware of what exercises are appropriate for each stage post partum!

How are you feeling? Large, sooo hungry the past couple weeks
Rants/Raves: Similar to everyone, I’m over work. I keep taking on new patients knowing that I could be leaving in the next few weeks. Fortunately not overrun with work, just feeling lazy haha.
Questions:
GTKY: What’s been the best deal you’ve snagged on a baby item (on sale, marketplace, for free)? Not necessarily baby item, but got 3 maternity shirts on Old Navy for < $30 dollars. There’s a local baby / children’s consignment store near me that carries a lot of name brand baby items at decent-ish prices. I am trying to hold off on buying too many extra clothes until she’s born so I don’t wind up with extra clothes that don’t fit / are not the right season. Y’all inspired me to join a Buy Nothing page though

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Blue
Upcoming Appointments: Today, I have the Strep B test
How are you feeling? Feeling sore. Lack of sleep is triggering migraines and my husband was stuffed up a day or so ago but it ended up being allergies thank God. Don't need to be getting a cold or something at this stage.
Rants/Raves: Oh my dear sweet little boy is already causing trouble. Friday I noticed that he hadn't moved in almost 12 hours. Scared the heck out of mom and dad. They did the non stress test and an ultrasound. He ended up being fine. Just having a lazy day. I told my husband that baby boy is so grounded when he is born. ha ha. Baby Boy made up for it by non-stop kicking, nudging and head butting me ever since, every hour on the hour it seems.
Questions:
GTKY: What’s been the best deal you’ve snagged on a baby item (on sale, marketplace, for free)? Our next door neighbors have 2 boys and told us on Halloween while trick or treating that if we needed anything to just ask them as far as clothes or item wise. We have not taken advantage of this yet since baby boy is already being spoiled rotten by grandparents and family on both sides but its nice to know that they have a boy who will be 2 years and a year older then ours that they can hopefully be buddies.
need to finish Christmas shopping. started last week and feel good about the few items I did purchase, but I know this year is going to be tough to get things done. started my shopping list on Amazon so I can make a big purchase in a few weeks and call it done 😂
raves - my Christmas trees are up! and fully decorated and making me happy. that's about it LOL
I haven't bought anything for this baby besides a little winter fleece onesie situation to wear outside. we got our first snow this past weekend so I wanted to make sure baby is warm.
I have saved a car seat to get an alert when it goes down in price. my current infant seat is only good until April before it's expired (it has served me well ❤️🩹 it will have seen me through all 3 babies over the last 5 years but how bittersweet!!) but I don't really wanna buy a car seat for $350+ tax. so waiting for a black Friday deal hopefully.

How are you feeling? Still pretty ok! Was getting a little panicked about how much we have left to do—my goal is to have the necessities in place by Thanksgiving—but this week I finally wrote everything down and have been steadily ticking items off, which feels really good.
Rants/Raves: My physical therapist is suddenly refusing to take my insurance because the claims submission portals are being wonky and apparently they haven’t been paid in months. Insurance is a nightmare, always, but honestly I’m mostly mad at the clinic because I asked about prior authorization from day 1 + notified them in SEPTEMBER that EOBs were stating claims were being denied, and they just waved me away and assured me billing would handle it 😡 We were supposed to switch from strengthening to relaxation/stretching exercises next week, so my plan right now is to do self-pay for that appointment, get the new plan, and then just hope I feel good enough to make it to/through delivery bc paying full price for weekly visits is just not in my budget.
Questions: I’ll be 36 weeks at Thanksgiving and am struggling with what to do. Wont make a final decision until my appointment the Tuesday evening before, but: if you were feeling good and having a totally uneventful pregnancy, no signs of being anywhere near labor starting, would you do an 8-hour drive to spend the holiday with family?
GTKY: What’s been the best deal you’ve snagged on a baby item (on sale, marketplace, for free)? Turns out the best deal was moving to the city my brother and SIL live in, and then struggling with infertility long enough that they finished with having young children by the time we got going 😭 We need a new carseat because theirs has expired, but otherwise the nursery essentially stocked itself for free.
8hrs round-trip, may not be so bad. But truthfully I'd probably use the excuse and stay home to rest.

How are you feeling? Good but I have had a cold or cough for the past 2 months! Ahhhh
Rants/Raves: I’m over having these head colds my other kids bring home or people go into work sick and spread germs
Questions: NATM
GTKY: What’s been the best deal you’ve snagged on a baby item (on sale, marketplace, for free)?
@nopegoat @thatbaintforbetty I honestly wasn't even considering the comfort factor. I made the drive spontaneously about a week ago (so at the 33/34 week mark) to attend the funeral of a close family friend, and had few complaints. A little swollen the day after but no real pain or discomfort during. I think I am wildly unprepared for how uncomfortable the final stretch can get.
My BIL's sister is actually an OB in my hometown and has promised to be on call if needed, but the scarier part, as @caffeinatedandtired alluded to, is that there's a roughly 5-hour stretch of the drive that is super rural, which could put us up to 2.5 hours away from a decent hospital.
I asked my doctor at my 34-week check-up this week as well, and she essentially said nothing in my chart was screaming that I had to stay put, but I would for sure want to know where every hospital is along the route and understand that I could end up delivering—and then figuring out how to travel with a newborn—from literally any of those locations...
I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that we're probably not going to Thanksgiving, even though I'm not ready to officially call it. I know they'll understand and support whatever decision I make, I just get a lot of FOMO about my family hanging out without me.
