Re: Weekly Check-In 11/10

  • 1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 4

    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): March 15, 22w1

3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: Thursday with the midwife. Anatomy scan was last Friday and went really well! We had a few things we were specifically watching for and they all were clear (I was "misdiagnosed" with placenta previa in a previous pregnancy so was hoping for good news on that front, and my husband was born with a genetic kidney disease where only one of his functions, but some people who have the disorder, nether kidney works.)

    4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: girl

5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: generally feeling pretty good! Just really tired but also having trouble sleeping, and a lot of pain in my pelvis/stiff lower back. Carrying a laundry basket upstairs last night was nearly torturous.

6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: We started to put up our Christmas decorations this past weekend! I don't have enough energy to put it and take it down within the same month this year, and I know with the level of nesting that will be happening, I'll *need* it down quickly after Christmas. I love the ambiance and how cozy our house feels filled with lights too. However, our six month old kitten has been a menace the likes of which we've never known with a pet at Christmas 🫠 not sure if all our ornaments will survive this year.

7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): the holidays are all about the desserts for me because frankly, none of our extended family makes good sides 🫣 like my in laws serve the potatoes you make from flakes every year, and we generally serve mashed potatoes and roasted veggies every single week in our house... so thanksgiving food isn't a huge deviation from our standard fair aside from turkey/ham and stuffing. I have spent about 10 years getting really good at making cheesecake and make multiple every holiday season! My favorite from recent years past has been a pecan pie topped cheesecake... truly phenomenal. I've been asked to make it again and again! I try to make at least one new recipe every year too.

8.) Qᴜᴇꜱᴛɪᴏɴꜱ: none at the moment!

    4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: Boy

5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: swollen feet, using CS

6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: baby movement is felt and I'm definitely nesting already

7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): what's your favorite holiday dish/dessert? I'm probably basic for this, but apple pie 😂

8.) Qᴜᴇꜱᴛɪᴏɴꜱ: Any good turkey seasoning recipes? I'm interested to try something new but GOOD this year.
  • @thescarletmom I have been spending Thanksgiving and Easter with my best friend’s family. I am all about some good side dishes. I have saved a few new recipes to try this year. I like some good homemade southern style dishes. My MIL is the opposite and when we spend holidays with them I am thoroughly disappointed with the sides. She makes sweet potato casserole with canned sweet potatoes and not fresh ones and I just don’t comprehend that. I do get in there and make some dishes some years. When they spend the holidays at my house I make the entire meal.

@blossomingmama I don’t have any turkey seasoning recipes. We started cooking prime rib on the holidays. I don’t have swollen feet yet but I am already wearing CS almost daily. Those and compression leggings around the house. I bought some new ones and they should be here soon and I’m hoping I really like them because they have pockets.
  • 1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 8

    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): 3/25; 20+5

3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: This Thursday and next Tuesday for another US.

    4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: boy

5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: hip joints feel loose, numb arms when I sleep, generally uncomfortable.

6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: I have been sick for the last week. It’s the worst cold ever. It’s all in my head too. I can’t breathe, I’m sneezing, coughing, headaches, and fatigue. I’m just ready to feel better.

7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): what's your favorite holiday dish/dessert? I really love some good potatoes. I also make a good stuffing. I make it in the crockpot so it’s not dry. I also plan to make some pretty sourdough.

    8.) Qᴜᴇꜱᴛɪᴏɴꜱ: none
  • @emeraldcity603 I hope you get over your cold soon! The one I had recently I only just "got over" after 2.5 weeks, and I'm still coughing and sneezing and blowing my nose, just not as my full time job finally. My oldest never got it, but the other two kids were over it within like 3 days, except my one who always has a malingering cough everytime he gets sick.

We host my family for Thanksgiving and I make everything (except the ham, we usually buy a honeybaked), its worth the extra effort! I remember how disappointing the first few years of holidays with my in laws were food-wise and for the most part now I just accept I'm not going to eat much. I struggle to force myself to eat something that just isn't good/mediocre to me, so I go hungry at Thanksgiving every year at the in laws. My kids often don't eat much there either, and 6+ hours at a house with a kitchen that isn't stocked with little kids in mind means we're always all on thin ice mood wise by the time we're leaving lol.

    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): March 16 / 22w1d

3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: November 25 for growth scan + reg appt

    4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: Girl

5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: It's hard getting comfortable at night. Up to pee all the time, weird ass dreams that leave me waking up sweating. RLP. The usual.

6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: Starting to buy things for this baby. A friend and I had traded baby clothes back and forth between our girls over a few years, and when I asked for them back I was told that all the clothes were ruined. SO, I don't really have any clothes for this babe 0-6 months. After 9 months, she's set.

7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): what's your favorite holiday dish/dessert? I am all about the side dishes. I loooove green bean casserole - yes, the one with canned (NOT fresh) green beans, condensed mushroom soup mix, and crunchy fried onion toppings. No one makes it besides me. I'm also very into carbs of any kind, especially potatoes and stuffing.

No one in my family really likes turkey, so we try to experiment - last year my husband made a beef wellington. This year, he's going to try turkey coq qu vin.

As for dessert, my mom is an amazing baker and her cheesecake is otherwordly. I also love pecan pie. I am not a fan of anything pumpkin.

    8.) Qᴜᴇꜱᴛɪᴏɴꜱ: NATM
  • @fifilala516 I don’t like pumpkin flavor either. I have never been able to enjoy it. I am also a fan of the green bean casserole but we don’t usually make that one because it’s not a favorite. I’m not sure I have ever had that dish with fresh green beans.
  • @fifilala516 cheesecake is truly *the* best dessert. Time consuming and semi-torturous at times to bake, but always beloved. What kind does your mom bake? We also aren't big turkey people. We actually did salmon for Thanksgiving last year because one of our guests could only eat fish meat-wise!
  • @emeraldcity603 I never got the hype for pumpkin. Pumpkin spice latte season? No thanks, collect $200 and go directly to peppermint mocha season. I had one this morning and it. was. divine.

@thescarletmom She usually just makes a plain one but it's just so firm and perfect and has a perfect crust. Ugh. I want it now.
  • 1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 1

    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): 3/14, 22+2

    3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: 12/4

    4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: Girl

5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: Constantly peeing. This girl is doing the cancan on my bladder. I’m also SO bloated. My hands and feet aren’t swollen, but my midsection just feel full and tight (you know, beyond the baby I’m growing in there lol). Oh and the heartburn has started!

6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: We’re moving in two weeks! Which is both exciting and also very annoying. We’re moving from NM to LA, and I’ll actually be close to a hospital as opposed to three hours away (maternity deserts are a very serious issue in NM). And I’ll be near all the fresh seafood and Cajun food I can eat!

7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): what's your favorite holiday dish/dessert? I am a fan of everything pumpkin except pumpkin pie. I bake it into everything I can get my paws on. But the best part of the holidays for me has always been the cheeseboard. I told my mom once I deliver I want a wheel of baked Brie and fig spread, and as much cold-smoked salmon as she can find.

8.) Qᴜᴇꜱᴛɪᴏɴꜱ: is there anything safe to help bloating? I’m following the small meals advice and drinking so much water. I’ve always been prone to bloating, but the competition for space on my insides is getting ROUGH.
We used to do cedar plank salmon for thanksgiving when I was a kid! I hated turkey and my dad loved experimenting!
  • @madelinegrace5 I bet it was so good! Sometimes I worry we're giving our kids a very skewed view of "Thanksgiving food" 😂 compared to other people, because we don't usually serve things like turkey, gravy, stuffing, or green bean casserole. I think last year our spread was salmon, asparagus, buttered corn, mashed potatoes, salad, rolls and desserts! And maybe my mom brought sweet potatoes? But at the end of the day, I'm very content serving the foods we actually enjoy and find comforting.

3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: next Wednesday, GDM screen

    4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: girl

5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: Braxton Hicks and headaches when I get stressed, which I have been this past week because of work. I called out to work today because of it. DH is home because of the holiday so he's been babying me which is nice.

6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: picked up the new paint for the living room (a light peachy-cream colour. It's currently a mid tone grey and it's just too dark and clashes with every other room in the house). I was hoping to get it redone before decorating for Christmas by I'm a little skeptical I'll get it done.

7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): what's your favorite holiday dish/dessert? Whoever said cheesecake, I second that. I love a good cheesecake and there's so many varieties
  • 1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 4

5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: Finally feeling the baby move!

7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): what's your favorite holiday dish/dessert? My mother-in-law makes this really good toffee at Christmas time and she sends us some every year. It's so good!

    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): March 29 (20+6)

    3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: Next week

    4.) ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ: drumroll please...it's a BOY

5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: some RLP, occasional leakage when I cough or sneeze, some mild contractions after I've been active, some tailbone/lower back discomfort. Lots of baby movement.

6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: well, the reason I am so late to this week's update party is because I was waiting for my US appointment to find out what we are having. Another boy! We're excited DS gets a little brother so close to his age, but now we are on the name hunt. I am also finally over my cold/sinus infection.

7.) ɢᴛᴋʏ (ꜱʜᴀʀᴇ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ): what's your favorite holiday dish/dessert? I really love my grandma's recipe for stuffing. I can't get enough of it. I was fortunate to be raised on good food every Thanksgiving. I love seeing everyone else's food traditions!

8.) Qᴜᴇꜱᴛɪᴏɴꜱ: Has anyone gotten an NIPT after their 20 week anatomy scan instead of earlier in the pregnancy? I opted out, but the US results showed two things that on their own could be totally normal, but together could *maybe* mean an abnormality so I was recommended an NIPT and an US screening at 28 weeks to look at baby's heart more thoroughly.
  • @madelinegrace5 I really wish I had something to offer by way of help. When I get bloating it is so uncomfortable and I don't really know what to do except ride it out and try to get some extra walking in if I can.
  • @midnightatsunset I’ve never heard of a NIPT being offered that late, since it’s usually offered much earlier and there could be instances of false positives/negatives.
