  • @iwantcookies even though he’s going be like a week old or so for Christmas my older kids still will expect that he has something under the tree. I been watching all the sales to try to buy a couple small things that go can in a stocking (rattles, clip on toys, soft teether books, extra pacifiers) and a toy or two for under the tree.

I honestly am behind on everybody else’s Christmas presents, with the exception of our traditional Christmas Eve pajamas. I actually bought a matching onesie/sleeper in like 9 mo (that was the closest size they had) in the hopes that next year they all will still fit and I can get an adorable photo of the matching outfits. (I usually get the girls a little big so they last longer)

Upcoming Appointments: thursday with my OB. Had my weekly MFM this morning, plus a trip to the ER today. 🙃
How are you feeling? Absolutely exhausted and anxious. I woke up around 4:45 this morning and after awhile couldn't feel baby girl move at all. I tried all the tricks to get her to move with no luck. My anxiety kicked into overdrive and my sister took me to the hospital to get checked out when my OB told me to get there. Everything is fine. Sis just wanta to keep me on my toes. After I left the hospital, I still had my regular MFM appointment for the NST and ultrasound fluid check. All good. But still so so nervewracking!
Rants/Raves: I am soooooooo done with work! @iwantcookies I am with you big time. I feel like they are somewhat in denial that I am going to have a baby in just a few weeks. Stop piling work on me!
    Questions: none right now

GTKY: What’s been the best deal you’ve snagged on a baby item (on sale, marketplace, for free)?
Oooh! I get a bunch of stuff off my local FB Buy Nothing page. The best thing so far has been a changing table. I actually got 2 from there. I had the first one for almost 3 years and it finally broke (it was like 15 years old anyway). And now I have a new one from buy nothing. I also got a TON of baby clothes from there too, including an Eagles snowsuit for my little guy. So many good things!

We have a Once Upon A Child near us, but sometimes the prices are whack. Like, 8 bucks for a carter's onesie. Ummm I'll buy it new then? But they do usually have good deals.
  • @thatbaintforbetty where have you shopped for matching holiday Jammie’s? I wanted to update the hubbys and mine but they no longer sell the style we have from like 7 years ago. I feel old navy has declined in the styling department for matching Xmas pjs.

@bridgiebee82 oh that’s terrifying! I’m glad everything turned out okay!
  • @iwantcookies Target! lol. I have bought from Amazon as well.

Honestly I really love a good sale/deal and they had them 40% off recently. I don’t usually buy ones for DH and I, I can’t ever buy sets since I am wildly different sizes on the top and bottom. I also try to do holiday but not Santa, cause I find the whole concept of him weird.

We’ve had holiday penguins, dinosaurs, woodland creatures, nature themed, hot cocoa/sweets, some adorable fair isle night gowns that came with a matching doll version. This year they are gingerbread cookie themed.

    This is the baby version

  • @jta41 I am seeing one!  Both for back pain and for labor prep/possible follow-up postpartum for my prolapse or any pelvic floor issues.  It has been helpful!  I am actually doing the exercises/stretches she gave me tonight 😅. I would look for a pelvic floor physical therapist.

  • @bridgiebee82 so sorry you had to go through that scare but so glad everything is okay with little one!

@jta41 as a (not pelvic floor) PT, I agree with @virginiaham that a PF PT would be great to have as part of your care team! That branch of PT has really taken off in the past few years. If you don’t have any in your area, I would at least look for an ortho PT who has experience/is comfortable working with pregnant women so they are aware of any exercise or positioning modifications that are needed for these last few weeks of pregnancy, and depending on if you have to follow up post birth, are aware of what exercises are appropriate for each stage post partum!

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 💚

Upcoming Appointments: tomorrow 11/14 for 34-wk with OB, then weeklies with US starting 11/25

How are you feeling? Still pretty ok! Was getting a little panicked about how much we have left to do—my goal is to have the necessities in place by Thanksgiving—but this week I finally wrote everything down and have been steadily ticking items off, which feels really good.

Rants/Raves: My physical therapist is suddenly refusing to take my insurance because the claims submission portals are being wonky and apparently they haven’t been paid in months. Insurance is a nightmare, always, but honestly I’m mostly mad at the clinic because I asked about prior authorization from day 1 + notified them in SEPTEMBER that EOBs were stating claims were being denied, and they just waved me away and assured me billing would handle it 😡 We were supposed to switch from strengthening to relaxation/stretching exercises next week, so my plan right now is to do self-pay for that appointment, get the new plan, and then just hope I feel good enough to make it to/through delivery bc paying full price for weekly visits is just not in my budget.

Questions: I’ll be 36 weeks at Thanksgiving and am struggling with what to do. Wont make a final decision until my appointment the Tuesday evening before, but: if you were feeling good and having a totally uneventful pregnancy, no signs of being anywhere near labor starting, would you do an 8-hour drive to spend the holiday with family?

GTKY:  What’s been the best deal you’ve snagged on a baby item (on sale, marketplace, for free)? Turns out the best deal was moving to the city my brother and SIL live in, and then struggling with infertility long enough that they finished with having young children by the time we got going 😭 We need a new carseat because theirs has expired, but otherwise the nursery essentially stocked itself for free.
  • @aisleofviewtwo I just did an almost 10hr drive one way at 32wks and it was rough. No matter how many stops and water, and as little sodium as possible I was so swollen and sore.

8hrs round-trip, may not be so bad. But truthfully I'd probably use the excuse and stay home to rest.

  • @aisleofviewtwo My aunt was contemplating hosting Thanksgiving this year (she decided against because of her hip acting up) but she lives about 2 and a half hours away and that is absolutely the max I would want to drive. And even then I was not looking forward to that amount of time in the car and I will be 36 weeks the day after Thanksgiving. I’m assuming you were going to stay with family over a couple days and not drive 8 there, have dinner and then drive right back so that might not be too bad since you could rest between but I would also take into account how much you might be tempted to overdo things while there. Also I wouldn’t go if there wasn’t a hospital (just in case!) within 30 to an hour from them. Odds are low you’d need it but better safe than sorry. Also I have no idea where you are and how likely/unlikely a near by hospital is but I’ve been hearing a lot about “maternal care deserts” and it’s a sad/scary thing.

I wasn’t planning on staying at/near my aunts so it would be 2 ish hours there, dinner and drive home, so 5 or so hours in the car total and even just typing that now I’m kinda glad it ended up not happening.

  • @aisleofviewtwo My doctor suggested not traveling too far away from my hospital after 36 weeks just because you never know what could happen! We were also potentially going to visit family that was not located close to a good medical center, so that made my decision a little easier. The way I see it, we will have lots of holidays in the future to visit with family and they will hopefully understand why I don’t want to travel super pregnant for this one
  • @aisleofviewtwo I wouldn’t risk it. That’s a long drive so close to the end.

Years ago when I was pregnant with my 2nd I got a double bob for the price of a single bob stroller at target! Someone bought it online for Black Friday and returned it and I just happened to see it on the end cap for an amazing price and snatched it up! The target employee said that if they sell it online only they usually discount it really well if it’s a return so check those end caps ladies!

Thanks, all, for your thoughtful replies!

@nopegoat @thatbaintforbetty I honestly wasn't even considering the comfort factor. I made the drive spontaneously about a week ago (so at the 33/34 week mark) to attend the funeral of a close family friend, and had few complaints. A little swollen the day after but no real pain or discomfort during. I think I am wildly unprepared for how uncomfortable the final stretch can get.

My BIL's sister is actually an OB in my hometown and has promised to be on call if needed, but the scarier part, as @caffeinatedandtired alluded to, is that there's a roughly 5-hour stretch of the drive that is super rural, which could put us up to 2.5 hours away from a decent hospital.

I asked my doctor at my 34-week check-up this week as well, and she essentially said nothing in my chart was screaming that I had to stay put, but I would for sure want to know where every hospital is along the route and understand that I could end up delivering—and then figuring out how to travel with a newborn—from literally any of those locations...

I'm slowly coming to terms with the fact that we're probably not going to Thanksgiving, even though I'm not ready to officially call it. I know they'll understand and support whatever decision I make, I just get a lot of FOMO about my family hanging out without me.
  • It’s technically the week of 11/17 but i wanted to update.

Went in for routine 38 week appt this AM and JUST found out that baby is breech. And has been for months. So doing an ECV this afternoon. His butt is not completely engaged in my pelvis which I’m told lends toward a better chance of ECV working.

I am very nervous and this is hugely unexpected after 38 weeks of assuming he was head down, and after 2 previous spontaneous vaginal deliveries.
  • @brookejay06 I know tons of people who recommend spinning babies! I have heard mixed reviews of ECV but if they say he’s not engaged then it sounds like the odds are higher of it working.

Good luck and all the flippy baby vibes!

  • @brookejay06 Sending all the good vibes for the ECV! Flip, baby, flip!!
  • @brookejay06 I’m pretty sure there are exercises/moves/yoga positions to try to get them to move down and be more “engaged” in the pelvis. I would Google and try those? I would think he’s less likely to flip back that way! Might be worth a shot?
