  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 12-26 / 32 & 3

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: 3rd

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: blue!

Upcoming Appointments: weekly NSTs, weekly diabetic check in, next growth scan 11/14

How are you feeling? I had perinatal anxiety with DD2 at the end and I think I’m getting it again. (Weirdly not about labor but about everything else) I will probably try what the doc told me last time, which was to take Benadryl before bed but I’m already so tired and having sleep issues I don’t want it to get worse. Which of course is not helping the anxiety. Also feeling itchy, huge, and slow. Still have a mild lingering cough and all the sinus gunk thats very uncomfortable.

Rants/Raves: We had kid birthday parties to attend both Saturday and Sunday and that was just so much for me right now. My youngest one is at the age where most parties are the whole class, and while I like/get along with everyone it’s still so much socializing and being up and about.

    Questions: nope

GTKY:  What’s been your go-to comfort food the last couple of weeks? Protein pasta spaghetti and meatballs and bougie bacon grilled cheese. I have a craving for potato soup now that the weather is slightly cooler so thats on my meal plan for the week.

Also my bday is Tuesday and DH was right in thinking I don’t want to cook so I’m trying to decide what I want as far as take out. I also asked for a nap/extra sleep, but that will probably have to wait till the weekend.
    this is my backup acct.

  • @thatbaintforbetty happy Birthday tomorrow!  Wishing for you that you could rest before the weekend, but well done DH on relieving you of dinner prep — I hope you enjoy the takeout tomorrow, whatever you decide on!

EDD / Weeks + Days:  38+4, 10 days until my due date 😅

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: 3rd

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 🎀

Upcoming Appointments: Earlier today and pretty much every Monday until she’s here.

How are you feeling?  Not terrible but lots of pelvic pressure and she’s definitely low.

Rants/Raves:  My cervical check today was 2cm and 50% effaced, which seems good but I think still means nothing at this point.  I’ve had a few rounds of time-able contractions the last few days but they are inconsistent timing-wise and so far always fizzle out.  I’m fine — I had a ton of prodromal labor with my oldest so it’s not surprising.  Plus I have a couple of appointments tomorrow I need to get done, and then we’ll do the sex and all the things and she can come anytime after that…including during the full moon on Wednesday 😜

    Questions:

GTKY:  What’s been your go-to comfort food the last couple of weeks?  We’ve done crockpot soups (white chicken chili and a Moroccan lentil soup) the last several weekends and they have been so good, even my kids have enjoyed them.  I just ran across a more fall-style ladoledomo soup on the stovetop that I might try now that my time has been freed up quite a bit not having school, but not sure if I can sell my kids on it with the egg or if I get that one all to myself.

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated:FTM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green:🩵

Upcoming Appointments: 11/6 and then all my other twice a week apts. but if next weeks tests results continue to show I’m trending down on fluids I won’t have twice a week apts! I’ll also find out late next week after my next growth scans if they suggest me to be induced early due to baby size. I understand measurements can be way off.. but having consistent notes from each of my growth scans (I’ve had at least 4)  since 20 weeks showing he’s measuring 2 weeks ahead makes me think he actually might be a big baby.

How are you feeling? Achy! Round ligament/pelvic pain is real… sometimes I contemplate if I can hold my pee in until DH wakes up to help me out of bed or not because the pain is the worst when getting out of bed.

My fatigue comes and goes but I am ready to be full time focused on me myself and I/home.

Rants/Raves: why does having to apply for FMLA/short term disability have to be so mysterious? And why should I give out my ENTIRE medical file for you to review to decide if I’m approved? Like co you really need to know the sex of my child? Idk it’s my first time through this process and I wish there was more guidance but I can’t rely on my work to help because realistically why would they help an employee take extended leave.

Questions: anyone have a good contraction counter app? My Nst’s have showing I’ve been having contractions although irregular and the last few weeks they typically catch at least one decent intensity contraction (moderate) so they want me to monitor frequency and intensity… even if we think it’s a BH.

Also anyone experience random lower abdominal period like cramps? I’ve been getting one every few days but not often or intense enough where I’m rushing out the door to the doctor. I do plan to bring it up to my doctor if I remember

GTKY:  What’s been your go-to comfort food the last couple of weeks?

It’s been chocolate honestly but now baked potato soup and chicken nuggets 😂 it’s gotten so bad I have to tell DH to make dinner with veggies for me or else I will just eat chicken nuggets all the time

How are you feeling? Exhausted. So sore. Sciatica, rlp, and spd are kicking my butt.
Rants/Raves: My sister's wedding was this past Friday. Was gone from Wed evening to Saturday afternoon. 10hr drive there. Like no sleep. Brought my MIL some stuff. Got to see my high school BFF and her daughter. She had baby clothes she had been saving for us for 13yrs. Met up with one of my husband's friends real quick because he had some goodies he made for us, then set up, had, and cleaned up the wedding, and then another 10hr drive home. It took me 2 days to have ankles again. It went really well and it was so good to see everyone. But holy smokes it took soo much out of me and I just want to go into full hermit mode now and not socialize or do anything for a looong time. Of course we have a ton more things to do over these next few weeks.
    Questions: Na.

How are you feeling? Chronically tired, low back pain, pelvic pain and my legs are feeling weaker.

    Rants/Raves:

Rants - agree with @iwantcookies taking time off work for mat or FMLA is a ridiculous process! About to start all that paperwork myself and also for the first time.

Raves - counting down the weeks! 😅🥹🫠

Questions: I have an office job where they are very competitive. More work is coming in everyday and I’m getting more stressed. I know I need to take care of me and the well being of the baby, but it seems like it’s getting Harding to manage expectations when your energy is half what you normally have. Any advice on how to pull back? Also, we are down a few people so I get to bonus work.

Also getting more paranoid that LO is not moving as much. But can’t tell if it’s because I’m focused on work and not noticing movement, LO is just running out of space or something is wrong with LO. I also have an anterior placenta so that could also be a factor. Generally, I typically feel LO at 3 am, mid day ish and sometimes later in the evening. My OB also noted to not worry about kick counting about two weeks ago since in their opinion it causes more anxiety than necessary. will say, I’m feeling LO move as I type, as if to say relax I’m okay- love you mom.

GTKY:  What’s been your go-to comfort food the last couple of weeks?

The thick waffles with Canadian maple syrup! Also lentil soup! Through my whole pregnancy, I did not want sweets, I’d try to eat it but baby wants food not sweets, ha😅. For the past three weeks it’s been waffles with sausage and scrambled eggs and some variety of lentil soup.

  • @jta41 I've always heard that better safe than sorry to call the doctor if you are worried about movement! I also get paranoid, and right around the time I start considering calling the doctor, I get some reassuring movements - though I will say they feel less like punches and kicks these days and more stretches and rolling movement

How are you feeling? Rib cage pain and return of insomnia is a fun combination. I think I may have also started getting some Braxton Hicks? Always interesting experiencing a new symptom

Rants/Raves: Had a growth scan today because they thought I was measuring a bit ahead at my previous visit. Got to see baby girl's face in 3D which was so sweet. She was partially covering her face with her hands, but we got to see a little smile.

Questions: Do y'all pack your own shampoo, conditioner, towel for the hospital? We took a tour last night and they recommended it, feels like the list for my hospital bag is growing exponentially

GTKY:  What’s been your go-to comfort food the last couple of weeks? Anything sweet - leftover Halloween candy is my current vice, fruit, ice cream, baked goods - I can't get enough of.

@iwantcookies I’ve been using the Full Term app.  Really simple to use and it graphs the data for you by contraction frequency, length and intensity to make it easy to spot patterns (or lack thereof, as in spoiler pic of some prodromal labor 😜).

  • @caffeinatedandtired I didn’t, but I did not shower at the hospital after either of my previous births(for different reasons). But if you have a trial/travel size of your regular products I would say can’t hurt to throw it in. I actually might throw the ones I have in my bag this time just in case. I didn’t even think about the towel, I would imagine they have them but if you are super partial to yours and you have space, why not? I also don’t have a ton of toiletries I use day by day as im a no make up, just a simple moisturizer kinda person. So space isn’t really an issue in that regard for me but might be for some.

  • @thatbaintforbetty thanks for the input! I’m also a minimal make up outside of special occasions, but can’t imagine I will want to put on a full face in the hospital. The nurse brought up a good point that a plush towel from home would be comforting for that first shower, but I’m realizing maybe I’m just not that partial.

They did suggest a separate potentially having a separate bag for L&D and then once I get moved to post partum. Could have hubby swap the bags out once we switch rooms so I don’t have to lug everything in at once!

How are you feeling? same as last week, same as the past 7 months! sick, nauseous, vomiting. hg is overpowering any other symptoms / nothing else is bothering me enough to clock it i guess since i’m all consumed by digestive issues. but i do notice the aching hips upon waking!

Rants/Raves: i’m overrrrrrrrr being sick 🥴 on the positive side of things tho i’m excited to be off work soon, to free up some brain space and finally get to feel what it’s like to have a SAHM / trad wife life lol

Questions: i’ve had two ultrasounds (12w and 20w) and two urine tests. i’m reading/hearing here + elsewhere that people have more scans and pee in a cup every visit. i won’t have another scan unless I’m past due to check fluid. just curious about this groups’ experience with these since this is my first pregnancy!

also will just repeat my q from last week in case I posted too late in the week so: nursery chair? i have one friend who swears by it/lives in it, a friend who bought one and never used it (tho her husband did “a little”), and a friend who never got one and says the couch/bed/other chairs in her house are fine. i am in a big city small apt so want to prioritize with space and would love any stm+ two cents!

GTKY: What’s been your go-to comfort food the last couple of weeks? anything easily digestible. carbs. ravioli has been safe, potatoes also. and ice water! anything arctic level cold.

  • edited November 6
@californiacherry I don’t pee in a cup unless I’m sent to the lab(and even then I don’t think I’ve done that since 1st tri). I know some docs do it regularly but I don’t know what they are checking for. Protein in the urine? It’s never been something I’ve had to do.

Honestly trying to pee in a tiny cup while massively pregnant sounds like cruel and unusual punishment. lol.

That amount of ultrasounds is normal in a healthy low risk pregnancy. You may get one more to check position if they feel like they aren’t sure the baby is head down but thats probably doc preference/situational.

I know several of us are some form of high risk and thats the reason for most of the ultrasounds. I am AMA and diabetic, which would usually be an extra 2 or 3 for structure and growth checks but we also had an exposure, a SCH and he has a 2 vessel cord so that has necessitated even more. Generally speaking more ultrasounds is not fully a good thing, there’s always a reason and while we are happy to see the baby we also wish it didn’t come with a metric truckload of anxious/nervous/worried/devastating possibilities.

On one of my previous birth boards one gal in Canada didn’t find she was having twins till 20 weeks because everything was low risk and progressing perfectly, apparently her practice only really did one or 2(and only if you didn’t know the dates) a pregnancy when no other factors required it.

Eta: I forgot about the chair part! Pregnancy brain, lol. I have never had a glider/rocker, or separate chair but ive also never had a dedicated nursery. We have a big faux leather chair (that doesn’t recline) that I used last time and will again. It has worked out just fine. I would put it in that nice to have if you’ve got the space/money but not absolutely necessary category.

  • @californiacherry somehow we *always* do our military moves with a 6mo old so we have baby in a travel pack n play/mini crib at our bedside and don’t do a nursery until 6+ mo.  For first baby I just nursed in bed.  For second baby I had an accent chair (didn’t rock or recline) by my bedside that I would nurse in which I think was helpful to keep bed for sleep / chair for feeds.

It honestly never bothered me and my mom was the only one who ever lamented that she would have loved to have a rocking chair to sit with my firstborn.  I debated getting a rocking chair for this one but we don’t have space for it, and I think what I’ll do instead is just take her out to the rocking chair on the front porch when she’s needing cool air and a change of environment.  I know there are like “seat back rocker” things on Amazon that act like a rocking chair, def not the same thing but still offers movement.

The OB/GYN practice I go to does urine dipsticks every visit to check for WBCs (possible UTI), glucose (possible undetected gestational diabetes), protein (could be an early sign of preeclampsia)…obviously there are symptoms for any of those conditions that you can watch out for and would likely report even without a urine dipstick.

How are you feeling? Tired. Overwhelmed. Pukey again. Overstimulated and cranky.
Rants/Raves: Rant: work. That's it. That's the rants. I'm over it. Lol
Ok I have another rant. Our 17 year old chihuahua needs to be put down. She can't see, has a huge tumor that's bigger than she is, her spine is curved in pain now, she pees EVERYWHERE, and my husband wants to "give her a few more weeks," but we will have a baby in a few weeks and the dog needs the mercy of being put down. I feel so bad for her. She just whines and cries all day and night. But "she's fine." Last week, I sat and literally cried to DH about how it isn't fair to her to live like this, and he is in denial. He just wants her to go in her sleep, but I honestly think it's unfair and merciless to her.
Questions: Is anyone else's SO seemingly in denial that a baby will be here in a matter of weeks? Because mine is.
GTKY: What’s been your go-to comfort food the last couple of weeks? Ramen noodles. Like the packs of Ramen. Not anything fancy, just noodles and salty broth.

How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good. Husband and I are ready. Taking this weekend since for once we have nothing planned to look over the house and everything baby related to see if we are really ready.

Rants/Raves: Baby boy is breech still. I have a septate uterus so they are keeping an eye on him to see if he will flip on his own still or if they will have to go in at 39 weeks for a c-section. My other rant is anyone else feel like people are more concerned with talking to your stomach then your face? I get people are excited because babies are exciting but I get a quick hi to my face when people see me and then they get really close to my stomach and talk for 15 min to my bump. Wish I could take him off for a day just so people would remember there is a mom that is carrying the baby that would like to talk too.

Questions: 2nd, 3rd+ moms: What is something I might be missing that I'm not thinking about that you found helpful in previous pregnancies? We have the nursery all set up, we have a diaper caddy for the car with extra supplies and outfits in case of blow outs, we have a caddy set up in the living room as well. What would be something I'm not thinking of? To quote Gone with the Wind, I don't know nothing about birthing babies. I grew up with grandparents and my grandma didn't talk to me at all about this when I was going through puberty. I'm figuring out this pregnancy thing as I go.

GTKY:  What’s been your go-to comfort food the last couple of weeks? Chicken sandwiches oddly. Husband and I have been eating a lot of Chick-fil-a and soup is starting to be eaten a lot more in our house now that its starting to get colder.
  • @bridgiebee82 pet end of life talk

We had to put our 10yo pup down a year ago after a short battle with what we think was stomach cancer.  One of the most helpful things that I ran across in my researching fury was that it’s better to put them down too early than too late.  I’m so sorry you’re facing this right now and that your H isn’t on the same page even though it sounds like it might be time.

  • @californiacherry, @thatbaintforbetty said it 100% with the need for additional US. I have a love hate relationship with needing so many. I think the pee in a cup of office dependent. My office requires us to pee when we can on visits with midwives or OBs and check for like others have said WBC, protein, sugars etc.

@bridgiebee82 I love a good pack of $1 ramen!!!! Also theSO in denial is so real. I started to like conceptualize to them that we are in fact having a kid and he may come earlier than expected. I still don’t think it gets through their thick skulls 😂 it can def be frustrating at times!
  • @thatbaintforbetty thank you for explaining all that! makes sense there needs to be a reason to be checking, so if low risk then no scan.

@iwantcookies thank you for chiming in! i’ll ask next week if I can/should have urine checked again for protein, WBC, sugar!

@virginiaham @thatbaintforbetty thank you for the glider/rocking chair two cents! seems like a nice to have, but maybe not necessary. i will prolly hold off til after baby is here and see if the thought pops back up for me and i can always get one then.

@br@bridgiebee82 i’m so sorry to hear about your pup ❤️ sending love to you and your fam! also, ramen sounds fire for dinner tonight haha

Upcoming Appointments: Monday I have my routine OB and Tuesday I have another growth scan.

How are you feeling? Stressed, honestly? Becoming acutely aware how soon this baby is coming and I'm feeling like I've got nothing done or ready.

Rants/Raves: My rave is that I set up my Christmas trees this week because I wasn't sure when I'd have the time or energy moving forward, and it's brought me a lil bit of joy this week. My rant is Braxton Hicks contractions. I never felt/had them in my previous pregnancies so this is new territory for me, and my God, they SUCK.

GTKY:  What’s been your go-to comfort food the last couple of weeks?

I literally don't have an appetite lately, so nothing? lol

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: boy!

Upcoming Appointments: Monday and every Monday :)

How are you feeling? Emotionally completely spent. Physically… same. But I’m also feeling like holy sh** I’m so close to the finish line. I actually need baby to stay till 40 weeks so I have time to rest and mentally prepare before he comes (my other babies came at 38 and 39 weeks)

Rants/Raves: Baby is still malpositioned (oblique- meaning his head is in my left hip and his butt is up in my right ribs) and I’m starting to get a little nervous about it. I will do chiropractic this week, PT, and lots of stretching and spinning babies.

GTKY:  What’s been your go-to comfort food the last couple of weeks? Someone else mentioned this and I agree- I am obsessed with ice water. Freezing cold water. Or cold fruit.
