4 weeks pregnant & concerned about alcohol consumption pre-positive test

Im about 4 weeks pregnant, should I be worried that the last 2 weeks (when I ovulated was supposedly Oct 9) was my wedding and honeymoon and other celebrations so I was drinking a bunch during that time? I was probably drinking alcohol everyday whether it be one/two at night or nonstop on my wedding night? I stopped the second I got the positive test a few days ago but I’m kind of freaking out because articles I read it could still impact the baby…I feel horrible/irresponsible…anyone else? How am I supposed to feel?

Re: 4 weeks pregnant & concerned about alcohol consumption pre-positive test

  • Drinking before you find out is fine, I was a bit tipsy a few days before I got my positive test as well. You can't help what you don't know and in the early days there's not really much shared blood supply if any.

If you found out at 4 weeks it's still very early. You'll do more damage stressing about it. Now that you know just focus on being healthy now.

  • From what I understand, alcohol before your missed period shouldn’t hurt the baby because it’s still getting nutrients from the yolk sac and has not established a connection to the maternal blood supply. Once the placenta has developed around 5-6 weeks, then alcohol can affect the baby. But before that it shouldn’t.
