    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated:FTM🥹

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green:💚

Upcoming Appointments: Growth Scan in 2 weeks!

How are you feeling?  Physically, belly started to feel heavy and tired. Emotionally psyched and anxious. The baby is almost here! 🥳 😆 and The baby is almost here! 😵‍💫😳

Rants/Raves: Rant-the is it normal questions at your OB just to be met with, yes it is, that’s it. 😶🫡

Rave - anterior placenta here and finally consistently feeling baby move🤩. I’m getting elbowed as I type! 😩🥰

Questions: I will have to get a non stress test. What is it exactly? What are your thoughts on it if you had one in the past?

GTKY: Are you an oldest, youngest, middle, or only child? Does your place in the birth order affect (or for FTM, do you think it will affect) how you parent your kids? I’m the baby of 3 (only girl) having a baby! I think birth order affects how I parent. I think I’m going to be over protective 😬I’ll try not to though! Hopefully as other kids come into the picture I assume I’ll be more or slightly less the same but my bandwidth may state otherwise! HBU?

  • @jta41 I have not had one, but for the NST I think
you just sit in a chair, they place a couple of sensors on your belly to monitor baby’s heart rate and any contractions, and you’re supposed to press something whenever you feel baby move

    Upcoming Appointments: Thursday!

How are you feeling? Meh. Overdid it assembling baby's dresser in the nursery over the weekend and the mid back pain is real. I also think I have an irritated nerve in my rib cage that causes a tingling feeling on the left side of my ribs - fun!

Rants/Raves: Excited for everyone to be in the final countdown and getting closer to meeting our babies!

    Questions:

GTKY: Are you an oldest, youngest, middle, or only child? Does your place in the birth order affect (or for FTM, do you think it will affect) how you parent your kids?

I am second of four, but oldest daughter. I definitely treated my younger sister (7 yr age gap) like I was her second mom until she went off to college. I had a great childhood / parents, and I don't know if it will affect how I parent my kids, but I am heavily leaning towards maximum of two kids because I spent a lot of time babysitting / taking care of younger sibs (+the neighbors that were their age) / splitting time and attention with them. Husband and entire family agree I will be the disciplinarian / stricter parent LOL

Upcoming Appointments: Thursday for my weekly BPP US, I think this is also a growth scan day! Typically Mondays moving forward are NST days and Thursdays are BPP US days.  I wish we could do everything together but I understand why we have to separate.

How are you feeling? Tired. I’m getting nauseous in the mornings again. I over did it this weekend and felt like I was coming down with a cold yesterday but I managed to get 8.5 hours of uninterrupted sleep last night so that helped.

Rants/Raves: I’ve used up almost all my PTO and sick time with all the apts I have and now it’s becoming a struggle to balance the apts and get my full 40 hours in a week.  I already had work move me to be WFH everyday and my schedule is a bit more flexible but sometimes after apts I am wiped out😵‍💫

    Questions:

GTKY: Are you an oldest, youngest, middle, or only child? Does your place in the birth order affect (or for FTM, do you think it will affect) how you parent your kids?

Me and DH are both the youngest (I’m youngest of 4 he Is youngest of 3) I think it will affect how we parent our kids to a degree. At some point we both became the adult of our families.  so any drama, issues concerns life questions, managing the family ended up on us which I feel is so backwards. I think being the youngest showed me what I should and shouldn’t try with my kids as we’ve seen from our own families. Also how our parents treated us. I’m hoping not to put an emphasis on who’s oldest and youngest but I do understand society and views change and depending how close we have kids will determine how different we raise them.

Upcoming Appointments: currently at the OB office lol

How are you feeling? exhausted! it was Thanksgiving weekend up in Canada so I was with family all weekend. my sister is visiting from the states with her fam so there were 7 kids 4 and under in the house, loads of noise this weekend lol. I'm overstimulated and touched out. I need 3 days to recover 😂

Rants/Raves: I feel hungry all the time now 😭 and I literally said to my husband "I'm not as big as I was with the first 2!" guess I jinxed myself

    Questions: n/a

GTKY: Are you an oldest, youngest, middle, or only child? Does your place in the birth order affect (or for FTM, do you think it will affect) how you parent your kids?

I'm a true middle. 4 of 7! I don't think it affects how I parent my kids though. I think that's more based on their personalities. how they respond to parenting techniques, etc. my oldest responded to sleep training perfectly, and my 2nd didn't lol so we never formally sleep trained him. he once in a blue moon wakes up thru the night needing a lil snuggle but he's great otherwise.

How are you feeling? Good for the most part! Getting over a cold at the moment but feeling better than I was

    Rants/Raves: sciatic nerve pain….go away!

Questions: is anyone else being told they need the get the rsv vaccine between 32-36 weeks? This one is new for me….

GTKY: Are you an oldest, youngest, middle, or only child? Does your place in the birth order affect (or for FTM, do you think it will affect) how you parent your kids?

Middle and yes I 100% parent based off of how I was brought up bc I was totally ignored and I make sure to not do what my parents did and be fair to all of them with everything being equal and we all support each other
  • @dogmom5 Yes! I’m so excited to be able to get the RSV vaccine! My OB told me I was eligible at 32-36 weeks because I’ll be delivering during RSV season. I think it’s so cool that some of the antibodies will be passed on to the baby and help protect them until they’re old enough to get the vaccine themself.

I also have a nephew who got RSV when he was super little, like 6-8 weeks old, and spent a week in the NICU fighting it off. (This was before the vaccine was available.) He was in good hands and came through great but it was scary times and I’d do anything to help my baby avoid a similar struggle.
  • jta41jta41 member
@dogmom5 haven’t been told about needing the RSV vaccine between 32-26 weeks. I’m 30 weeks now so I’d imagine I’ll hear about it at my next OB appt. Otherwise, I’ll ask about it.
@aisleofviewtwo thank you for the additionally context of RSV complications with your nephew. Glad he pulled through!
  • @dogmom5 I’ve read about being able to get the vaccine during those time frames. I imagine I’ll hear about it at my next OB appointment, if not I’ll definitely be asking about it! I also want to ask about a shot that isn’t a vaccine but can now be given to newborns to help protect them against the worst symptoms of RSV. I’m not sure the name or anything else but have also read about that.

I don’t take RSV lightly my friend was in and out of the hospital with her LO for a year (at least 4 times if I recall) because he kept getting RSV. I think the first time he was barely 2 months old. This was pre vaccines for mommas.  We also live in an area where vaccinations are low but we get a high # of cases of flu and RSV. It’s each to their own on personal vaccines but since we are also having visitors who can only travel by plane to see us I’m doing everything in my power to lighten the chances of getting a severe case whether it’s flu, colds, RSV, whooping cough etc.
  • @iwantcookies The RSV “vaccine” for babies isn’t a true vaccine in that it doesn’t work via exposure to the virus itself, it just provides antibodies to their system. I think this is probably what you heard about.

How are you feeling? Exhausted. And really tight across my abdomen. It feels like bad menstrual cramps and I can barely breathe. It goes away but keeps coming back. Is this early labor? I didn't go into labor last time.

    Rants/Raves:

Questions: Do Braxton Hicks feel like cramps, or is that early labor?

GTKY: Are you an oldest, youngest, middle, or only child? Does your place in the birth order affect (or for FTM, do you think it will affect) how you parent your kids? I'm the 4th of 5 children, but the youngest girl in the family. I'm one of the middle children in my family, and I often felt ignored and that my needs weren't met. I had a lot of self-esteem issues well into adulthood feeling like i had to prove myself to others. But I also had a really good childhood and I know my family loves me. It absolutely influences how I parent. I listen to my son and get down on his level to talk to him. I want him (and new baby) to always feel seen and loved.
  • @bridgiebee82 I don't know if I have experienced any Braxton Hicks yet (have woken up a couple times at night to uncomfortable tightness in my abdomen that went away with changing positions / getting out of bed). My mom said she recalled with my younger siblings that Braxton hicks felt like someone was pulling a seatbelt really tight across her abdomen and it would come and go / was not consistent. It's my understanding that they should get better / ease up with some movement
  • @bridgiebee82 I’ve had Braxton Hicks with all of my pregnancies starting in the teen weeks and for me they’ve felt like my belly tightening into a ball around baby, sometimes into a weird tight shape, and then releasing.  Most of the time they aren’t uncomfortable but sometimes they feel uncomfortable/almost like I need to breathe deeper through them…but even those haven’t felt like menstrual cramps.  I think I just have an irritable uterus; it’s happened when baby moves a certain way, when my bladder is full, when I pee, when I change position, when my husband looks at me wrong, also for no identifiable earthly reason 🙃 I ended up in L&D triage a couple times for frequent BH’s with my first around the 20/24w mark and had to go on Nifedipine the rest of that pregnancy, though my cervix never changed with those early BH’s.

Do you have a contraction tracker app?  I’d download something like Full Term and keep track of them to make sure they aren’t organizing into a regular pattern.  Definitely hydrate and pee frequently and keep a close eye on them, esp if you’re feeling cramping.  Reach out to your provider at any point if you’re concerned.  It’s truly NBD to go into L&D triage if needed…they’ll hook you up to a NST, check your cervix to make sure it’s not dilating/effacing and give meds to arrest the contractions if needed.  It’s not time yet baby bridgiebee ❤️

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: 3rd

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 🩷

Upcoming Appointments: Next week for GBS swab + they’ll check my cervix with the swab

How are you feeling?  Just big and slow, more easily sore.

Rants/Raves:  My hospital bag is alllmost packed, just a couple things I’m waiting on to arrive tomorrow.  And then I need to finish making the brief care checklist for our kids/puppy and nail down our middle of the night contingency plan.  MH’s parents are on standby for us but are 8 hours away and not sure they’d drive in the middle of the night.  My longest labor was 12h (induction) and middle of the night so we could possibly have baby before they even get on the road.  I’m not in a rush or needing to know when it’ll happen but it’s that really weird time where we could have a baby next week or 6 weeks from now.  My 5yo is guessing we’ll have a 9+lb baby on Thanksgiving day.  Savage.

    Questions:

GTKY: Are you an oldest, youngest, middle, or only child? Does your place in the birth order affect (or for FTM, do you think it will affect) how you parent your kids?  Youngest, as is my husband…in a season of figuring out how to support my oldest in her need for ever increasing responsibility and autonomy and struggling to relate but I’m not sure if it’s a birth order thing or just a parenting thing.
