How are you feeling? SORE. Tired. Huge. Itchy. My hips are killing me. Apparently my doc said that my abdominal muscles are just starting to separate so I am in a support band full time.

Rants/Raves: celebrating that I have less then double digits in weeks left 🥳

I am not ready for him to be here but so ready to not be pregnant. Also pretty much given up on bending over for things. 🤣

Questions:

GTKY: Are you an oldest, youngest, middle, or only child? Does your place in the birth order affect (or for FTM, do you think it will affect) how you parent your kids?

I’m the oldest of 4, 1 full sib and 2 half (20+ years younger). DH is actually 1of 5, 2 full and 2 half, without the crazy age gap.

I think it probably affects it some, but not as much as it could. I am definitely the typical eldest millennial daughter. Everyone in my family calls me when they need something or have questions like “which is better traditional 401k or a Roth? how do I submit taxes/unemployment or get copies of certain documents.” Actually the one sibling in DHs family we talk to and his mom usually call me for that type of thing too. lol.

For the better I feel like I’m much more able to stand up and put boundaries in place (I literally had to do this yesterday at my brothers bday dinner) and that might be because of birth order but it’s also part of my personality and how I’m treated in my family too. (I am the black sheep in my family, DH is in his too) But also I feel like my oldest is nothing like I was and that’s harder(but by no means impossible, just takes work on my part) for me to understand but thats just her personality and who she is, the younger one currently is the more independent/opinionated/headstrong child. So while I might be stereotypical of my birth order placement I also know that it’s not always that way.

How are you feeling? Physically, belly started to feel heavy and tired. Emotionally psyched and anxious. The baby is almost here! 🥳 😆 and The baby is almost here! 😵‍💫😳

Rants/Raves: Rant-the is it normal questions at your OB just to be met with, yes it is, that’s it. 😶🫡

Rave - anterior placenta here and finally consistently feeling baby move🤩. I’m getting elbowed as I type! 😩🥰

Questions: I will have to get a non stress test. What is it exactly? What are your thoughts on it if you had one in the past?

I’m the baby of 3 (only girl) having a baby! I think birth order affects how I parent. I think I’m going to be over protective 😬I’ll try not to though! Hopefully as other kids come into the picture I assume I’ll be more or slightly less the same but my bandwidth may state otherwise! HBU?

@jta41 I have not had one, but for the NST I think
you just sit in a chair, they place a couple of sensors on your belly to monitor baby’s heart rate and any contractions, and you’re supposed to press something whenever you feel baby move

@jta41 NSTs are absolutely not a big deal. Completely non invasive but very important to assess a lot, very little requirement out of mom for mitigating big risk to baby. I think they do BP on mom too but I don’t remember.

This will be my third pregnancy where I have gotten them weekly/biweekly. I’ve had 2 different hospital systems but both did them very similarly, they have a room with a couple beds and monitors, you lay down the put the monitor on your belly and a nurse checks till they get the required data they need, usually a certain amount of movement in a given timeframe, will show babies heart rate (or decreases/decelerations) and any contractions. If the baby hits the mark you are free to go, if they don’t you go to L&D for further monitoring. I have super active babies and it’s usually 15-20 min and I’m done.

There is some antenatal testing that is more in depth. I think because of the complications I have this time mine will include an ultrasound to check fluid and will be more like 45 min long according to the message I just got.

@jta41 I just had my first NST today. I would recommend bringing something to keep you busy if you aren’t talkative to the tech.

Mine took my BP and heart rate then strapped two monitors on me. One for contraction monitoring and the other for the baby’s heart rate. they last anywhere from 20-45 min. Each tech/doctor is different but I was explained 20 min is the minimum and if they don’t see variability with the baby’s heart rate they will extend the test until they do or 45 min has passed. Mine had me reclined in a nice comfy chair and the tech and I ended up chatting about everything and anything for the 30 min I was there. We did have to keep moving the heart rate monitor since the baby was too excited to be monitored 😂. If the doctors/tech don’t see you hit the markers in their given time frame they may have you go get a BPP ultrasound same day. I get both but on alternative days so if I fail bpp they have me get an NST and then vice versa to see if I need to go to the hospital or if we just caught baby at a nap period.

How are you feeling? Meh. Overdid it assembling baby's dresser in the nursery over the weekend and the mid back pain is real. I also think I have an irritated nerve in my rib cage that causes a tingling feeling on the left side of my ribs - fun!

Rants/Raves: Excited for everyone to be in the final countdown and getting closer to meeting our babies!

I am second of four, but oldest daughter. I definitely treated my younger sister (7 yr age gap) like I was her second mom until she went off to college. I had a great childhood / parents, and I don't know if it will affect how I parent my kids, but I am heavily leaning towards maximum of two kids because I spent a lot of time babysitting / taking care of younger sibs (+the neighbors that were their age) / splitting time and attention with them. Husband and entire family agree I will be the disciplinarian / stricter parent LOL

Upcoming Appointments: Thursday for my weekly BPP US, I think this is also a growth scan day! Typically Mondays moving forward are NST days and Thursdays are BPP US days. I wish we could do everything together but I understand why we have to separate.

How are you feeling? Tired. I’m getting nauseous in the mornings again. I over did it this weekend and felt like I was coming down with a cold yesterday but I managed to get 8.5 hours of uninterrupted sleep last night so that helped.

Rants/Raves: I’ve used up almost all my PTO and sick time with all the apts I have and now it’s becoming a struggle to balance the apts and get my full 40 hours in a week. I already had work move me to be WFH everyday and my schedule is a bit more flexible but sometimes after apts I am wiped out😵‍💫

Me and DH are both the youngest (I’m youngest of 4 he Is youngest of 3) I think it will affect how we parent our kids to a degree. At some point we both became the adult of our families. so any drama, issues concerns life questions, managing the family ended up on us which I feel is so backwards. I think being the youngest showed me what I should and shouldn’t try with my kids as we’ve seen from our own families. Also how our parents treated us. I’m hoping not to put an emphasis on who’s oldest and youngest but I do understand society and views change and depending how close we have kids will determine how different we raise them.
