Bringing back a good old weekly thread from the bump's golden days: bitchfest. Get things off your chest! Life's annoyances, work problems, family disputes, whatever.
My bitchfest is that one of the attorneys I work with is the most stubborn mfer I have ever met, while simultaneously seeming to know literally nothing but being willing to die on the hill anyway. One of my cases with her goes to trial next week and it quite literally at some points seems like she's trying to run it in to the ground on purpose. But she's trial lead so me and the other attorneys just have to grin and bear it. It's extra frustrating because this is a practice area she has no real experience in and I have a ton of it.
@thescarletmom that sounds absolutely awful. I used to work for a law firm (in an administrative capacity) and I met some nighmtare attorneys that made me sooooo glad I didn't have to work with them on a legal team.
My bitchfest topic is about an ongoing family thing that I know will never change and I just have to live with.
Context: I have a complicated relationship with my dad. He's better than he was in my childhood, but I still need to have some hefty boundaries in place (like - he can have a relationship with my kids but he is NEVER to watch my kids alone/with my mom. I can only talk about surface-y things with him and I never answer the phone if he calls, I text first or call him back later). I accept that I am responsible for maintaining the boundaries and he frequently forgets so I need to be the one to steer conversations or just outright re-state the boundaries.
I am just getting SO DAMN TIRED of him making unhelpful suggestions, asking if I want to take a nap and he and my mom will watch my son, and every two-five minutes asking if he can do anything to help (and the answer is almost always no). If I need something from him I will ask!!! I have in the past!! and NO I will not nap and have you watch my kid!
I schedule grandparent days once a week or two and while my mom shows up every time, my dad only comes about twice a month. So I really am only dealing with this a couple times of month but WOW it is so annoying when I am already hormonal and tired.
@midnightatsunset oof, I understand. My dad died right before our oldest turned two, but I know if he hadn't we would be in your shoes. And we won't ever let my mom watch our kids under a certain age (partially because she is disabled and cannot pick them up if she needed to, but also I'm not comfortable with her watching them before they're capable of thoroughly communicating because she says some wild stuff sometimes). Holding boundaries is so hard especially when you would do anything to have someone you could actually trust to help you. I would LOVE a nap, but I can't, because you aren't reliable for one reason or another, so stop reminding me of how devastating that is by asking.
@fifilala516 I hope you hear back soon about the UTI!! I'm glad you're at least not symptomatic but I'm sure that's also nervewracking having no idea what's going on.

I’m going to bitch about my UTI. Still waiting for the doctor to get back to me to tell me the course of action.
