    EDD / Weeks + Days: Jan 11 / 26+1

    Team blue/pink/green: fake green

Upcoming Appointments: Doing my 3-hr glucose test on Wed; OB & midwife appointments next week

How are you feeling?: Well, those fun 3rd trimester aches and pains are starting to settle in. It was silly hot here (for a coastal area yesterday) and I overexerted myself at the local BMX track with my 2.5 yr old. Bending over trying to restrain him from going ahead of his heat is a lot of work. Plus it was 77 degrees in direct sunlight. And this morning I'm experiencing ear popping. I remember my sis had this issue with her 2nd pregnancy and ended up having to take 1 extra month of leave before birth because it was really bad.

Rants/Raves: oh man, the last 2 weeks were just BRUTAL. First, the cold that had been brewing all September just totally showed its worst. I had a log off work early a couple of times and took a day off. Then, LAST week, my little dude ended up with a bad case of HFMD. We had to keep him home from daycare 4/5 days. Finally, on Thu (Oct 2), our daycare sent a first notice about HFMD outbreak and reported their first case was on Sep 16!!! And by Oct 2, at least 4/6 classroom were affected. So, by Friday, we were like "eff it... we're sending him in." Little dude also won't accept my H's caregiving if I'm at home (and I normally WFH) so I had to leave the house 3x and go to co-working space). But of course, because he was sick, sleep was majorly impacted, so he woke up at 5:30am and by the time 8:30am rolled around, it felt like I lived another lifetime before starting a full-day of work. Oh, and everyone and their mother was out on PTO last week, so I didn't even feel like I could take any days off. Finally I got so pissed off with trying to hold everything together, I took Friday PM off.

    Questions: nah

GTKY: What are your Fall must-do's? Fall is a weird concept in NorCal / CentralCoastCal... our best whether or the year is Sep - Oct - most of November. We don't really get colors until late Nov and then rains start right away. All that to say, we don't really do anything. We're not big on Halloween but given that we have a 2.5 yr old, might do a little bit more than in the past couple of years.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 1/19 25+1

    Team blue/pink/green: blue

Upcoming Appointments: US was Monday and my EDD is now 3 days closer and that feels like a mental win! 😆 I'll take it. Baby looked good. We have 2 that favor me and the other 2 favor my husband and this one appears to be the tie breaker in their favor. We shall see 🤷‍♀️
    OB next week.

How are you feeling?: getting over my cold, the kids still have it and my husband just got over it as well. Friday night my youngest woke me by barking at me. Croup. Instantly took him out to the cold and snuggled him. He improved quickly and we came in took a nebulizer I keep on deck and then I made some cough syrup and he was good to go. His doc is an absolute saint and sent me a prescription for a steroid next morning being a Saturday. He is much better. I so appreciate doctors who trust parents and get the job done. We didn't have to do an ER visit just a quick call and 2 hours later we had his meds. We've been living off vitamin c drops, homemade concoctions, menthol slathered feet and heavy socks at night, hot cocoa and health teas, and magnesium eucalyptus baths/homemade shower steamers.

Rants/Raves: Do any of you use mullein when sick? I have a mullein tincture and we drink gordolobo tea with ginger, honey, lemon, etc. Stuff tastes pretty wicked, but man it does the trick!

Also HOLY HEARTBURN! It's always my worst symptoms of pregnancy, but it's been real bad lately and I know that means we are zooming into the 3rd round. Glass half full I guess. 🤔

Questions: With sick season upon us, what are your go to remedies or things you do and swear by?

GTKY: What are your Fall must-do's?
All the things. We love fall. We do lots of crafts with leaves and go on hikes to discover the best leaves from a variety of trees. I'm so excited for toasty fires, warm cup of goodness and a good book.

*****All book suggestions welcome. I love reading post partum! ****** 😊TIA

  • @acleverusername I was wondering where you were and hoping life wasn't deal you a shit hand as it tends to do from time to time. I hope you are all feeling better. Kids sick, while you're sick, and still needing to work and mom is so draining. Add in pregnancy and you're SOL.

The dreaded glucose test, May the sugar be with you. 🫡
NorCal is my dream! We owned land near Yreka off the river for some years. We could catch salmon in that river. Saw so many bears. It was magical. My neighbor (the guy 3 miles down the road) owned a tank and would drive it across a bridge that couriers refused to use. I love the Avenue of the giants. I always felt like a fairy in some mythical world when we did those hikes. The redwoods are a must see IMO! We have friends in Eureka, Arcata, and Fortuna. I love Somoa Island too. I also really enjoy Ferndale. The victorian houses and the gorgeous cemetary. We've been talking about a trek that way. We've missed it dearly.

It sounds like sickness is going around everywhere. My son and husband just got over something.

@acleverusername, I have the same problem. If I'm around, my son only wants me to help him, and he's not very nice to my husband. I work from home, so it's definitely a frustration for me when my son is screaming because he only wants me to do something. If it's just my husband, my son has no issues.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 1/14 / 26 + 1

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: I took the glucose test yesterday and am waiting on my results. I have a check-up with my OB next Wednesday.

How are you feeling?: Okay. My pelvic pain seems to be worse this time around, and I'm so tired of having to pee all the time. I've also peed my pants multiple times when sneezing, so that's not fun. I think the nausea may have lessened a bit from the last 3-4 weeks.

Rants/Raves: My rave is that we've started house hunting. However, it looks like it's going to take a while to find something that we feel is the right fit for us. My rant is that my toddler's attitude is still not great and it's making each day very frustrating.

    Questions: None

GTKY: What are your Fall must-do's? I like to go to at least one Pumpkin Patch, and we take lots of walks to see the leaves change colors. I go outside a lot more in the Fall than in the Summer because the temperatures are cool and enjoyable. But I also start wrapping Christmas gifts, which is one of my favorite activities! I make elaborate bows for each gift.
  • @acleverusername no worries! I'm sorry to hear about the crazy couple of weeks you've had!!

    FTM/STM/TTM+: FTM

    EDD / Weeks + Days: Jan. 14/26w1d

    Team blue/pink/green: Blue

Upcoming Appointments: None til closer to the end of the month

How are you feeling?: Also starting to feel the aches and pains of later pregnancy set in! Sleeping has been fun, as I've been changing position about every 30 minutes due to hip and knee pain. I'm pretty sure I'm waking my poor husband up nearly every time I roll over, but of course he'll never complain about it. While all the tossing and turning isn't my favorite, I'm just thankful I am sleeping. I had another bout of insomnia for 2-3 days last week, but it seems to have resolved. The swelling in my feet has gotten worse, and I need to figure out soon what I'm going to do about shoes for my baby shower on the 18th. I'm honestly a little afraid to go through some of my pre-pregnancy shoes and see what actually fits (or, more likely, doesn't) lol

Rants/Raves: We had a cold front blow in last night, and when I woke up this morning, it was only 56 degrees outside. It's going to stay in the low 60s for at least the next week or two, it looks like - love the fall weather! We had had a few late 80-degree days in the past week, and I am just not here for that kind of nonsense lol. We are likely going to go get pumpkins for the front porch this weekend (though it looks like it's going to rain - we may just be going to the local garden center instead of the pumpkin patch). Getting pumpkins is one of my favorite fall activities. Plus, it's my husband's and my 9-year anniversary today. I can't believe we're going on a decade next year, and can't wait to celebrate this weekend!

As for a rant, I'm lucky enough not to be working right now, but I am going to school for my master's and a career change. Man, is it tough to focus and motivate myself to do schoolwork right now! My memory is definitely not what it usually is, which is making things particularly frustrating. Getting to the end of this semester is going to be a struggle, and it doesn't help that finals end exactly a month before my due date. Oof.

Questions: None so far this week

GTKY: What are your Fall must-do's?

I love fall! We definitely try to get to a pumpkin patch every year, but at the very least, we always get pumpkins for the front porch. Weirdly, my husband and I both went to the same orchard in the mountains every year as kids, though we never met or knew each other. The orchard makes the absolute best apple cider I've ever had and they grow some apple varieties that I can't really find elsewhere, so I usually like to try to get up there at least once in the fall. There's some good hiking around there, too. I'm not 100% sure if we'll get up there this year as fall is looking busy and we've moved a bit further away, so it's about an hour and a half drive each way. If nothing else, I'm hoping I can convince one of our sets of parents (who live closer) to bring me some apple cider :D

    Happy anniversary, @ahume131!

It’s been similar here where we’ve had a few 80° days, and I’m not a fan! I’m loving the cooler weather.
  • kbmtkbmt member
Also, I just got my results back and it looks like I passed my glucose test! My ferritin levels are still low though.
