How are you feeling?: morning sickness is still annoying! the food aversion are so bad. some days i only eat breakfast & then everything else looks gross and i realize before bedtime that i’m starving cause i’ve only had one meal. i’ll snack on fruits or have some coffee but that’s about it. i’ve also been very emotional & i get carsick on every drive 🫠 so much fun. also, baby has suddenly gotten very low??? i feel her kicks and punches near *there* as if she’s trying to come out!! i usually feel that during the last weeks of pregnancy, not this early!! so idk if it’s something to be worried about?? i have a history of premature labor so i’m going in next week to mention it to my ob.
Rants/Raves: rant - my brain is in full nesting mode but my body won’t cooperate.
raves - weather in my city has significantly gotten nicer! not fall weather nice (it never reacher that crisp fall weather, we’re in tx) but we’re in the 80’s now!!! i’ll take it over being in the 100s everyday.
Questions:
GTKY: Are you planning ahead for postpartum meals, and if so, what does that look like for you? Any recipes or tips to share? we live next door to my parents so my mom usually provides meals for us those early days. i’m super grateful for my mom 🫡 our homeschooling co-op also organizes a meal train for family’s who welcome new babies during the school year 🥹 for in between meals my husband just takes over while i’m recovering!
How are you feeling?: I woke up yesterday with a cold and sore throat. I've been sucking on those vitamin C drops all day for my medicine and it has helped. Luckily it was a COOP day and I ordered pizza. Haha today I'm better but still feeling like crud.
Rants/Raves: we are in the process of finishing a home for resale and I'm exhausted. All I want to be doing is my space now. We need a couple dressers and I like to buy 1 of each diaper size and 3 NB boxes and 5 or so boxes of wipes. Same with stocking up on detergent for baby so essentially the first year is paid for and we can relax. We cloth diaper once the legs are fat enough to hold it in. 😆 Hopefully by next month I'll be able to focus on the home and getting all the stuff we need which is very little truly. Mainly a carseat and bassinet and we are set.

The last month or so I double every recipe I make and freeze the extra one. I take a day to make a bunch of crockpot freezer meals as well. Especially with winter babies it's the bees knees. Throw that crap in and serve it later. We also budget for a hefty door dash month. We never use door dash, but for during birth or hospital stay I only eat door dash whatever I want my husband orders it and it shows up and it's heaven! Then I save some of that for the first month or so for an oh crap I have 4 other kids who must eat nights so I don't have to load everyone up or take an unexpected hit to the wallet. Those nights are sure to come! 🤭 I just like being prepared and not feeling guilty about splurging if it's already budgeted then it's no big deal and we can enjoy the evening stressfree. A month before we stock up the pantry really good. We also focus on my recovery milk supply boosting foods. I love those mama chia seed pouches. I drink bone broth right after birth as well. Oh and all the electrolyte drinks my heart desires. And coffee. The coffee is a necessity! 🙃
@littlebabybuster you have unlocked the secret code, mom next door is clutch!!!! We keep telling my MIL we will build her an ADU and she is down, but can't convince her GF. Someday! Lol we just have to make it a proposition they can't refuse. I'm so glad you have the support so close! What a blessing!!! 🙌
How are you feeling?: I'm feeling pretty okay physically at the moment, but y'all, I have been SO hungry lately. Like, got up at 1 a.m. last night to eat a peanut butter sandwich hungry. Ate dinner and an ice cream sandwich less than two hours ago and am now eating half a bagel (and hoping that satisfies!) hungry. I assume baby boy is going through a growth spurt or something because goodness gracious.

I'm definitely starting to plan for what we'll eat postpartum. I haven't done a lot of freezer meals in the past, but I've been trying out some recipes to see what might work for us. I plan to do a lot of freezer crockpot meals and also freeze a couple casseroles or meals that I can throw on a sheet pan in the oven. My husband has a smoker and tends to smoke big pieces of meat a couple times a year, so likely we'll smoke a pork butt and/or a brisket and portion those out for the freezer, too. Not going to lie, though, I also definitely put a couple DoorDash gift cards on our registry and I expect we'll use it quite a bit.
@ahume131 the insatiable hunger that hits me during my 2nd trimester each time is very alarming. Haha it passes in the 3rd trimester due to there being no space. When you over eat you regret it. So you relearn how to eat. Then when you have your baby, even more so if you breastfeed, you'll be ravenous. I've never been so hungry in my life. For 3 months at least I'm starving and hungry constantly. I call it the 4th trimester, recovery and all that entails as well as the food supply for an infant. People seem to leave out the 4th trimester when shit really gets real! 🤣 even with my 1st I meal prepped because I had good friends tell me you'll be hungry all the time! They were so right. God bless the moms that came before and their honesty and insight! 🙌 smoked meat will be added to my list. It's the least hubby can do! 🤭 great idea!
