  • 1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 4
    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): 3/6/26 16+3
3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: nothing until the anatomy scan at 20 weeks
4.) ʙᴏʏ/ɢɪʀʟ/ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟ/ꜱᴜʀᴘʀɪꜱᴇ ᴜɴᴛɪʟ ʙɪʀᴛʜ: this baby is a girl
5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: nothing major. I’m getting out of breath climbing stairs and am hungry all the time.
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: exciting - I’m starting to feel some little movements
7.) Qᴜᴇꜱᴛɪᴏɴꜱ: has anyone had to deal with the rude “was this planned?” question? Our youngest is almost 5 and I’ve found myself having to answer this question a lot. And it always leaves me flustered.

  • 1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 4

    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): March 15, 15w1

3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: ultrasound next Monday, next midwife appt is in mid October

4.) ʙᴏʏ/ɢɪʀʟ/ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟ/ꜱᴜʀᴘʀɪꜱᴇ ᴜɴᴛɪʟ ʙɪʀᴛʜ: we'll probably find out at our ultrasound next week assuming baby cooperates!

5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: feeling truly *winded* these days! The dizziness has gotten a tiny bit better. My midwife reminded me last week that always I'm anemic in pregnancy 😂 and so I've added extra iron and that's helped. I've also been having hip/back pain and some insomnia. But otherwise starting to feel the energy of second trimester and it's great!

6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: looking forward to this ultrasound next week. I've been having some anxiety and the combination of easing my fears that baby is doing well and finding out boy or girl is helping me get through this very annoying work week.

7.) Questions: @crizz13 oh good lord, yes! I think its so common after you get past 2 kids. A few people have asked my husband and I together and after he's always like ??? Why would my answer even matter? It's so annoying and rude, and we personally wouldn't ever tell our children they were "unplanned" even if it were true.
  • 1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 2
    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): 15+5
3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: prenatal on 8th
4.) ʙᴏʏ/ɢɪʀʟ/ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟ/ꜱᴜʀᴘʀɪꜱᴇ ᴜɴᴛɪʟ ʙɪʀᴛʜ: finding out at anatomy scan
5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: actually feeling ok the week!
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: had the worst week at work and just struggling to function because of it. Booked myself a therapy appointment, unfortunately it's not for two weeks but better than nothing.
7.) Questions: @crizz13 oh my gosh how rude! No, no one has asked unless you count my Dr when I made my first appointment.
  • @lizdiane456 I'm so sorry you've had such a terrible week. Work has been the worst for me recently too. I love my career but man having a shitty week when you're pregnant is so hard to recover from mentally I feel like. It makes it harder to drag myself out of bed knowing I have to go. Hopefully your therapy appointment helps when you get to it ❤️
  • 1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 2

    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): March 16 // 15w1d

    3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: Oct 3 but…see below

    4.) ʙᴏʏ/ɢɪʀʟ/ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟ/ꜱᴜʀᴘʀɪꜱᴇ ᴜɴᴛɪʟ ʙɪʀᴛʜ: girl

5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: fatigue, night sweats, crazy dreams, RLP

6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: my redrawn NIPT came back, now high risk for triple X syndrome. Still no result for monosomy X. The MFM’s office is supposed to call tomorrow to get me in for a meeting with the geneticist and another ultrasound and an amnio, if I wanted. I’m not crazy about that idea of the test but I do want definitive answers and a plan moving forward. My anxiety just waiting for everything is the worst part.

7.) Questions: has anyone had an amnio before? What did you feel like after?
  • 1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 4
    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): 13 + 3
3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: Late October follow up
    4.) ʙᴏʏ/ɢɪʀʟ/ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟ/ꜱᴜʀᴘʀɪꜱᴇ ᴜɴᴛɪʟ ʙɪʀᴛʜ: girl
5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: not a whole lot going on, sometimes random little pains, my digestive system has really slowed down and I can't seem to drink enough water.
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: I went out and bought a bunch of bras yesterday and they are pretty comfortable so I'm excited about that! My old ones had wires stabbing me.
7.) Questions: No one has asked if this was planned, but then I live pretty isolated and just don't see or talk to people anyway.
  • @fifilala516 I’m sorry your genetics test came back with more concerning things. Hopefully it’s all a false positive and everything is fine.
  • @fifilala516 that sounds very overwhelming to deal with! I'm so sorry it wasn't a more comforting answer the second time. I hope the geneticist can help get you some answers soon and you can avoid an amnio if at all possible 🤞
  • 1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 2
    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): March 29 (13+2)
    3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: tomorrow!
4.) ʙᴏʏ/ɢɪʀʟ/ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟ/ꜱᴜʀᴘʀɪꜱᴇ ᴜɴᴛɪʟ ʙɪʀᴛʜ: finding out at anatomy scan
5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: nausea is lessening (yay!) but I still get hit with fatigue, headaches, and obnoxious post-nasal drip. My appetite is still really low.
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: I finally was able to join up with some local mom/women's groups this fall. Very excited to build a little community before I drop off the face of the earth when baby is born lol. Building community has been one of my greatest struggles since my first was born last year.
@fifilala516 . I have not had an amnio before and I am so sorry your NIPT was not straightforward good news. I hope the conversation with the geneticist goes well and everything turns out ok.
  • For those that had the NIPT blood draw; did it show in your portal as pending? My horizon genetic screen showed as pending, test received and estimated results date. I had the NIPT part drawn last Wednesday 9/17 and it’s still not showing. I messaged the doctor office who just said “it takes 7-10 business days you will have results soon” but I explained that it’s not even showing as a pending test. I’m just here worried they didn’t do something or link my name and then now it’s lost. Just curious if it showed pending or just popped up that there was a new result.
  • @robinj716 - I had a heck of a time with the NIPT, too, for some reason. Not even getting into the drama/trauma of the draw (which culminated with the phleb stabbing me in the inner wrist to get the blood, which hurt like crazy and is even disallowed in a lot of places due to the pain and risks), it took 3 weeks of me and my doctor and all her nurses calling around and harassing people to get my results. Apparently, it initially went to the hospital's lab (which was supposed to then send it out to the third-party lab - Natura - for processing) without the requisition form so it just sat there for 2 weeks until we figured out what had happened. Even after the nurses confirmed Natura had the sample and was "processing it now," it still didn't show any test pending on my Natura account for several more days until I got someone ar Natura on the phone to manually link my specimen to my profile. The rep did not explain what the precise disconnect was, but as soon as she did whatever she did, the test card finally popped up on my account and I could view my results. My advice: Be that person and stay on everyone until it gets done - even well-meaning people drop the ball sometimes! This is too important. Good luck!
  • @skoiagirl thank you!!! I did the chat with Natera who said it takes 72 hours to receive the sample, but then said it can extend to a week. I’m like well it’s been 7 days albeit 5 business days. She’s like well just keep waiting and once we get it, you’ll see it. I do have a follow up appt tomorrow with just the OB for checkup. I will ask again there. Natera told me to ask for tracking. I’m definitely fine waiting the time needed for my results, but it’s just one of those things that nobody can even tell me where the sample is and if they have it! I will stay on them.
  • @robinj716 - I was the same. I wasn't trying to rush the results but truly worried something administrative had been tripped up (for one thing, the stabby phleb, after asking ME how many vials she was supposed to collect for the kit, then tried to hand the specimen back to me and tell me I had to carry it back to my doctor(!?) before someone else corrected her...not a lot of confidence inspired...I wasn't given tracking, either) - and was right. I remember the Natura customer service chat seemed just to be a AI that gave me stock responses about processing times, so eventually I had to figure out how to get an actual human on the phone to get it worked out. In any case, it should show up on your portal as pending within a handful of days of specimen receipt so if you don't see anything after a couple more days, do follow up. I hope it all goes more smoothly for you!
  • Realized I hadn't done this part yet...

    1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 1
    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): March 11 (16+0)
    3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: 9/26
    4.) ʙᴏʏ/ɢɪʀʟ/ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟ/ꜱᴜʀᴘʀɪꜱᴇ ᴜɴᴛɪʟ ʙɪʀᴛʜ: Girl
5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: Still having intermittent nausea and occasional upchucks, but had 3 days without any of it last week and it is all noticeably less frequent now. I think the relaxin is getting more intense now though because I seem to have strained my right groin muscle (hip adductor area) just walking to prenatal yoga. I have been limping/lumbering for a week which makes me seem way more pregnant than I am. 😅 It is slowly improving, but my SIL recommended starting to wear a belly band to help keep things in place and prevent more injuries. Some slight ankle swelling when walking across the airport flying home from a wedding over the weekend.
6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: See #5 above. Also, peeing whenever I throw up (and, as of today apparently, when I sneeze 🫠).
7.) Questions: Any ideas for low key ways to tell our family the gender? We are not flashy and are not up for an elaborate gender reveal party, but would like it to be a special moment.
  • @skoiagirl I'm a big fan of the cake/cupcakes. First because cake is yummy, second because it's not elaborate or fussy. You can either have a small dinner party or even just you and your partner and film it. And Ive found it pretty easy to find someone to do it, you don't need to drop $100s on anything fancy
  • 1.) ʙᴀʙʏ ɴᴜᴍʙᴇʀ: 8

    2.) ᴅᴜᴇ ᴅᴀᴛᴇ (ᴡᴇᴇᴋꜱ+ᴅᴀʏꜱ): 3/25; 14+1

    3.) ɴᴇxᴛ ᴀᴘᴘᴏɪɴᴛᴍᴇɴᴛ: October 16th I think.

    4.) ʙᴏʏ/ɢɪʀʟ/ɢᴇɴᴅᴇʀ ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟ/ꜱᴜʀᴘʀɪꜱᴇ ᴜɴᴛɪʟ ʙɪʀᴛʜ: boy

    5.) ꜱʏᴍᴘᴛᴏᴍꜱ: none right now

6.) ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ ᴇxᴄɪᴛɪɴɢ/ᴀɴɴᴏʏɪɴɢ: we are leaving for Hawaii this coming Monday. I need to start packing. I also just got back from a trip with my friends and we paddle boarded with porpoises, otters, and a seal. Did a ton of Tidepooling. Held some starfish that were the size of my head. It was an amazing trip. It’s definitely at the top of my best ones. We are talking about doing it again next year around this time and I would have to bring the baby. I would absolutely do it because it’s not something I want to miss out on. We are camping in a dry cabin so not super easy but not as hard as tent camping.

    7.) Questions: none for now.
  • @skoiagirl will update later In full, but I was right. They never sent my blood sample and now I have to redo it 😠
  • @emeraldcity603 did you just recently find out boy?! Congratulations!
  • @robinj716 nooo what a nightmare 😭
  • @thescarletmom yep, with the NIPT results.
  • @robinj716 Oh, no! I'm so sorry to hear they dropped the ball on you, too. You would think just getting a lab sample to the right place would be one of the easier tasks in this whole process. 🤨 Well, I'm glad you found out now instead of waiting for weeks...
  • @emeraldcity603 Where was that trip you just came back from? It sounds amazing!
  • @lizdiane456 I really like that idea - to the point and delicious...And since we already know and are just surprising the family, we could even make the cake/cupcakes ourselves and make a fun activity out of it. 🥰
  • @skoiagirl it was an island called Halibut Cove near Homer AK. It’s a little paradise. They said they rent the cabins all year round but you have to be prepared to be stuck there for several extra days in case the water freezes or there is a winter storm. 😬 I was like, umm, no thanks. We will stick to non snowy months.
  • @emeraldcity603 Alaska has so many beautiful spots! I have only gotten to visit there once, in the summer. I'd think it would take a pretty determined person to go for a cabin stay in the snowy season...😅
  • @skoiagirl cupcakes is our plan too, mainly for announcing to our kids! We are hopefully finding out Monday, and I was thinking we would buy cupcakes filled with a colored icing. Everybody else in the family will find out when we're ready lol (they were VERY weird my entire 3rd pregnancy about how we "needed" to have a girl after having two boys and three would be "too many boys around", despite us saying repeatedly we were happy regardless...maybe it's petty but I still haven't forgiven them for doing that in front of our boys).
  • @skoiagirl Lots of people backpack out to dry cabins in the winter because they can be easier to get to because you can use a sled. I would be ok doing it to one on the mainland. Not one where a boat taxi had to drop me off and pick me up. You would need wood and fuel plus extra food and a way to get water. We had to paddle board to a waterfall for water. There was a water source closer but we didn’t explore the island due to the massive activity of porpoises on the water. I had them 3 feet away from me AND one bumped into the bottom of my paddle board which was exciting and terrifying all at the same time. I wasn’t sure if my board was about to get flipped. That would have been crazy because the water was so cold. I had a life jacket on but hypothermia sets in fast due to how cold it is.

  • @thescarletmom The kids will absolutely love that! We are still holding out a little bit on timing because they have been annoyingly confident in their guesses about it being a girl, especially my MIL, and my hubby wants to torture them a little longer in the suspense (especially since they are right, and he says it will take a long time to live down having to tell his mother she was right 😅). Families can be so strange sometimes. ❤️
  • @emeraldcity603 That makes total sense - and it would be fun sledding in. 😁 That place sounds like an absolute paradise - I love porpoises! I'm sure they were just playing and wouldn't really knock you in 😅. I'm glad you were able to stay out of the ice water in any case!
  • @skoiagirl lol my husband was the same! He was slightly less offended by all the girl talk because he leaned towards wanting a girl. But he did want to add some suspense by keeping it to ourselves, which meant we also had to keep it from our kids for a while because once our then-6yo found out, it would have been game over. Bless him, he cannot keep a secret to save his life 😂 if we had to pick this time, we lean girl for the symmetry of it all, and I will probably feel a little sad if my daughter won't get a sister (I'm one of 7 and have 3 brothers and 3 sisters, so each kid getting to have both kinds of siblings has always been a dream of mine). So I want time to process all that first, too.
  • @thescarletmom Good call - kids are notorious for spilling the beans! 😅 I feel the symmetry/balancing point. I am only one of 2 and my parents were happy to have a boy and a girl - but my husband is one of 8 and there is only one girl among them...and out of 6 grandbabies so far, there is only one other girl, so my MIL is absolutely chomping at the bit for another girl in the family. She will be very pleased when we finally let the secret out!!

Anyway, so excited for you to find out next week!
  • @skoiagirl my MIL only had boys and DH only has male cousins, she wanted a girl so badly I suspect if we find out we are having a girl she will become even more insufferable
  • @lizdiane456 my husband's grandmother had two sons, and then just my husband as her grandson, and when we found out we were having our second boy, she was genuinely *pissed*. Complained loudly to extended relatives at family gatherings. They were in fact insufferable when we had our daughter next 😮‍💨
  • @lizdiane456 I had to finally tell my MIL to shut up about the gender because she kept going on and on about how she just knew it was a girl. I already knew it was a boy and I hadn’t shared it with anyone yet. I had to keep reminding her that we had 2 losses prior to this baby and the most important thing is that the baby is healthy and low risk. 😑

also, with our first baby this woman would plan trip from AK to the NE every 3 months without asking us if we were ok with it. She was extremely overbearing. Sending me articles about baby shampoo, delayed cord clamping, etc. It was driving me crazy. She is a midwife and she even, I kid you not, suggested she could check my cervix when we were waiting for labor to start with our first baby. I told her absolutely not.
  • @emeraldcity603 aaaaabsolutely not 💀 we've had the same discussion over and over again, that we could care less what other people want because after our miscarriages all that we truly hope for is a healthy baby. But also inviting yourself to a house with a newborn is soooo deranged, and we haven't even gotten to the "I'll check your cervix!" part, good lord.
