Has anyone used a Lotus Everywhere Travel Crib?

We are thinking about getting one of these instead of a pack and play. Thoughts? Anyone have any experience using this?

Re: Has anyone used a Lotus Everywhere Travel Crib?

  • I haven't used it yet but I just bought one and it seems awesome so far. I got the sun screen and the bug net to go with it too!

  • Our friends have this and bring it with them when they visit. It sets up so fast. They said if there was one thing we should definitely have it's the Lotus. We registered for it and got it (although my mom, who didn't buy it, made some snarky comments about the price).
  • @26pointrunningfor2 ughhhhhh that's super annoying. There are pnps double the price. Of someone wants to buy it for you that's their choice not someone else's
  • FTM mom here so can't comment on the usefulness but we decided to go with the Lotus over a Pack and Play after doing a decent amount of research.  We ordered online, were pleased with the super fast shipping, and love how easy it is to set up and how lightweight/small it gets when broken down.  We also got the bassinet converter kit for use as our nighttime bassinet when he's still in our room and for any travel when he's very young, and the conversion is also very quick and simple.  A big fan so far (not yet having a baby to put in it!).
  • Nice! never heard of this but I love the bassinet conversion and that it also converts from stationary to rocking... I was so sure about PnP bassinet but now looks like I have some more research to do, thanks ladies :-)
  • We would buy this to use instead of a PnP. We got a Graco PnP (granted, a cheapy one), and it was horrible- indented mattress, smelled like chemicals, ick! We are returning it.

The only bad thing I've read about the Lotus is that the sheets make the mattress buckle/cave in. Has anyone noticed this?

  • @Starlight32 -- We don't have the sheets yet, but when we get them, I'm happy to test it out for you and let you know! It does have mattress-specific sheets, so I don't know if maybe using it with regular portacrib sheets would cause the buckling/caving.
  • Was anyone else but me scared to click on this thinking it was lotus birth related???

  • Someone on my cloth diaper FB page was talking about this.  I think it would be good for us- we travel so much and the PNP are too big to haul with us everywhere, but I don't think it has a height for a newborn, unless I'm dumb today and can't read where it said it has a higher height for an infant (which is totally possible).
If it only has the floor level, I don't see if being much use utnil baby is older.  If it can go high for a newborn- rock on.
  • @wbwells, I'm not sure, but it sounds like it is an additional accessory from reading some of the replies.

  • It does have a bassinet option that costs a bit over one hundred dollars more (either as an add or a more expensive bundle). Seems expensive but we are debating it.

@emp2624 thanks! I emailed the company and they already got back to me about it. Apparently there was an issue where their sheets weren't pre shrunk but it should no longer be an issue. Keep me updated about how your sheets fit the mattress!

I ended up ordering the the Lotus over the weekend (with the bassinet conversion) and a set of sheets for the play yard mattress and the bassinet mattress. The play yard mattress has a slight smell (I'm weird about smells) so I have that airing out but the bassinet mattress did not seem to have any smell. I tested the sheets (unwashed, I want to make sure the mattress smell comes out before I wash), and they fit well (no buckling that I could see in the quick test). It's expensive, but i think it was a good purchase based on first glance and as someone who hasn't actually used it (as long as the large mattress smell goes away soon!).
  • I just got the newton travel crib and play yard with the bassinet insert, and I love how big it is, we will be able to use the bassinet and the play yard area for a long time, which seems like a huge win to me.
