    Rants/Raves: MH is so useless!

    Questions: None from me.

Rants/Raves: I started looking for a house recently and we had a showing set up for Wednesday but they already have multiple offers for the house so that's a no go. Bummer.

Questions: how long are you all waiting to tell family you're expecting? Or did you already? And how did/will you do it? I kind of want to do the Big Brother shirt kind of thing. I also don't know how to tell DS. He's only 3.

GTKY: You've hired some house cleaning services woohoo! What room are you most embarrassed to have them clean? 😬 For sure the bathroom because I hate cleaning it so it's probably really gross in some corners 😬

  • Oh good questions! My DS is 2.5 (exactly today) and I've sort of been saying "please don't jump on mummy, you'll hurt baby" and that there's a baby in mummy's tummy. He's a bit confused and thinks there is a baby in his tummy but did mentionit last night when he wouldn't fall asleep til 10:15pm so he listens sometimes. I haven't told my family but my mom lives upstairs and I'm sure she knows already, but I have a t-shirt I got for $5 on fb that I plan to put him in for Canadian thanksgiving (October) if I'm not showing by then. I've told a few people at work cause they are my close circle and wonder why I have so many appointments all of a sudden. I'll tell the rest of my team when I'm further along. We are almost all remote so it's easier to hide.
  • Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 7 weeks today! Tentative due date is 5/5

    FTM/STM/STM+: FTM

Team Green/Pink/Blue/Finding Out: Not finding out!! Is that team green?

Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: A coffee bean!

Upcoming appointments: First appt is 10/6

How are you feeling?: I've had almost no symptoms besides breast soreness until today, the nausea is starting...

    Rants/Raves:

Questions: How early are people telling their employers?

I already told my parents and some close friends but that's it.

GTKY: You've hired some house cleaning services woohoo! What room are you most embarrassed to have them clean?  Hmmmm probably closets that don't get a lot of attention!
  • @ellie_asaurus I told my boss when I was about 13 weeks with my first. I had many years of infertility and 1 miscarriage so we wanted to make sure everything was really good with our little guy before we even told our families. I was right about 11 weeks at Christmas when we gifted everyone the surprise of our pregnancy so I waited for the New Year to mention it to my boss.

When you tell your employer is really up to you but it may also depend on the job you do/your responsibilities (if anything is hazardous or you do a lot of heavy lifting for example) and you need some level of accommodation now that you're pregnant. Some end up telling them sooner because they are dealing with a lot of severe morning sickness and want to explain some of their absences.

Not that this applies, but you wouldn't want to say anything if you're job hunting or maybe you're in the running for a promotion. Pregnancy discrimination is illegal but it definitely happens anyway.
