October 2025 Babies

Induction for 39yo FTM

So at my 30 week appointment my OB said that they will be doing weekly Sonos to check on baby at 36 weeks and they may induce me early depending on what they see and how baby is doing. They don’t want me to go past 40 weeks since I’m older.

They also don’t want to induce early if it’s not necessary since I’ve had a straightforward and healthy pregnancy so far but now my due date is looking like it may be just a figment of my imagination. Anyone else experiencing the same thing as an older first time mom? I was so looking forward to an October baby as my husband is born in October and autumn is my favorite season and Halloween is my favorite holiday.

Re: Induction for 39yo FTM

  • I might end up being induced early due to marginal cord insertion and because my baby is tall. The uncertainty is killing me!

But even without advanced maternal age, marginal cord insertion, or any other specific reason to potentially need an induction, only around 4% of babies are born on their due date. So really, the due date was never that likely to be spot on.

I hope you get the birth experience you want. ♥️

  • I am due Oct. 7th and then I turn 41 Nov. 26th. I will not be able to go past 40 weeks. My doctor said that the best time to be induced, if you haven't gone into labor on your own is between 39 weeks 0 days and 39 weeks 6 days. Maybe ask your doctor about this time frame? And ask if it is medically necessary for the 37 week induction!

I am really hoping that he is born in October as well. My mom's bday is early October and my brother is late October. Fall really is the best time of the year!
