    EDD / Weeks + Days: 8+5

Team blue/pink/green: finding out with genetic testing

Upcoming Appointments: just had an US last Friday. Baby is still measuring ahead and had a HB of 180. My SCH is still measuring the same so it’s good it hasn’t grown because I haven’t been taking many precautions. No pelvic rest or modified bedrest like I usually do. I am hiking less but only because I’m too fatigued to hike a peak right now.

How are you feeling?: my nausea has lessened some but I still feel it nagging me in the background. I’m super tired most of the time. I’m ready for that 2nd trimester energy!

Rants/Raves: I found the HB on my Doppler. I have been checking on and off for a week now and finally located it!

    Questions:  none

    Hi ladies 🫶

STM, based off LMP says 11 weeks 3 days, measured me at a week earlier 10 weeks 3 days but gave me a due date that was a week and 2 days later (I'm honestly confused and clarifying next appt), doing gender reveal later, did a Natera blood draw today, next appointment is Sept 2 for U/S and Sept 3 for another Natera blood draw, nauseous and throwing up almost everyday, still tired, back pain, I feel it all this pregnancy/first tri has been tough honestly. I'm sticking with my ginger ale no caffeine as my rave right now. Did have some plant based sushi the other day it was pretty good. Does anyone have any recommendations on light things to eat/drink that you're able to tolerate with n/v atm? TIA.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: March 16 / 10w1d

    Team blue/pink/green: finding out

Upcoming Appointments: Sept 2 for NT scan and NIPT

How are you feeling?: much better, knock wood. Queasiness seems to have subsided a bit, as well as food aversions (although I still don’t want shrimp). I still have crazy heartburn and I always feel tired, but it’s ok. I also feel huge and can’t lay on my stomach anymore. Also - I feel super ugly??? My hair is always greasy and I really need to dye it (waiting for the second tri), and I just don’t feel like my best. With my daughter, I had gorgeous, thick hair and glowing skin. Not this time.

Rants/Raves: we’re on vacation and having a great time. Rant - I go back to work on Monday after having a month off.

    Questions:  NATM

  • FTM/STM/TTM+: TTM+

    EDD / Weeks + Days: EDD 3/29, 8w2d

    Team blue/pink/green: team blue

Upcoming Appointments: I have my last US at the IVF clinic today, then hopefully I can graduate to the regular OB!

How are you feeling?: So so tired and nauseous. I take a nap every chance I get. The hours from 3-8pm I feel the worst for sure. I feel so hungry but everything sounds gross. I cant drink enough ice water at the moment.

Rants/Raves: Pants are the enemy. I bought a size up in my normal scrub bottoms and they are still not uncomfortable at all.

Questions: What is everyone drinking? Im usually a Diet Coke or Alani in the afternoon kind of girl, but Im staying away at the moment. I feel like everything has aspartame or tastes like straight up sugar syrup to me! Some flavors of sparkling ice have been ok. I love an afternoon pick me up beverage, so Im curious what everyone else is enjoying right now?

EDD / Weeks + Days: March 15 / 10w2. Though at my dating scan I measured 5ish days ahead. When I was trying to figure out conception there were two possible days and I just picked the later, I think it was 3-4 days or so. So I think the earlier day may actually be right but I would rather keep my later date just to be safe.

    Team blue/pink/green: Finding out

Upcoming Appointments: probably next Thursday for first midwife appt.

How are you feeling?: every evening around 7 without fail I got from moderately crummy feeling but functioning, to such intense nausea and vomiting that I'm useless. It's been really hard to deal with.

Rants/Raves: just feel super crummy and my anxiety is creeping in. I've been having a lot of cramping and back pain, but no spotting, so it's just making me feel antsy.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 10+6, March 11

    Team blue/pink/green: finding out

    Upcoming Appointments: nothing until September

How are you feeling?: surviving not thriving. Migraines are getting worse and now happen nearly every afternoon/evening and I get quite dizzy. I've found eating one large meal a day works ok, around noon is usually when I feel best so if I eat 1200 calories then I fair better, otherwise I can eat only 3-4 bites throughout the day before feeling sick. Not sure if I should try and see a Dr before my next appointment or not, my PCP is on vacation right now so it would have to be another Dr at the clinic.

Rants/Raves: rave: my husband has been so good this pregnancy, making sure I get rest, making sure I'm eating and drinking, taking our toddler. Rant: I'm back on night shifts after having been on for 12 days. I didn't sleep at all today, I woke up every hour so tonight will be interesting.

Questions:  @beachmama14 mostly electrolyte water. I don't have the package on me atm but they come in tabs you add to your water bottle. That and ginger ale
  • @lizdiane456 how is night shift? I'm thinking of taking evenings or nights soon. We are about the same according to my measurements from doc but she put the date of March 14 because I was a week and a day late for my first. Idk how accurate that would be I think the first date is more accurate of March 6th but only time will tell.

Has anyone else had a post due baby and if so, were you're following children also post due? I'm skeptical.

I have started shakes and increasing hydration where I can. Vitamin water has been nice and ginger ale. Also, a big help for me as been separating my food and beverages. At least giving myself 20 min after I eat to drink some days, when I can tolerate it. Otherwise if I do couple it, it would be ginger ale which usually helps when I combine food and drink.

@thescarletmom I have not experienced spotting either, I experienced that much later for some reason first time around.

@beachmama14 I usually always feel the worst in the evening. Also, a few weeks ago. It changed to all day until I started incorporating more shakes and snacking, just a little bit and when I do drink taking small sips at a time. Pants are my energy too, ugh!

@fifilala516 I feel the same way with the bloat and sensitivity to all the body changes.
  • @blossomingmama well my charge nurse looked at me this morning and told me I looked awful and to just go home, it was only half hour until shift change I was was resource nurse so it didn't really matter but about that well haha! If you do 8hrs it might not be too bad. I wouldn't say day shifts are necessarily better for me either right now. I think it's the 12hrs that it causing more issues than which shift, but I'm hoping it gets better into the second trimester, if not I can get accommodated to 8hr shifts, it's just a pain and would totally mess up my schedule. It think your are more likely to go postdates with your first and subsequent babies typically come a little earlier, not positive on that though. I had emergency C-section at 39 weeks though so I can't speak from experience
  • @blossomingmama my first was early at 36 weeks, second late at 41, third on his due date, 4th and 5th at 38 weeks, 6th at 40 plus a few days, and my last was at 38 weeks. I’m assuming this baby will come around 38 weeks like most of the others. Maybe 37 if I continue to measure ahead.

Personally, I love the Lemon Elderberry Soda from Trader Joe’s. It feels very light and refreshing for an afternoon pick me up. I also really like cranberry-citrus sparkling water from Target’s Good and Gather brand.

edit: to add that I really miss my cold brew pick me ups! I miss the extra caffeine and the decaf versions still upset my tummy a little. Darn nausea!!!
  • @blossomingmama my first came at 39w4, my second at 39w6, and my third at 39w2! I know 100% for sure my 2nd and 3rd babies conception date, but used LMP with first. My dates were never changed based on measuring ahead or behind. All that to say, I truly think each baby is its own ride! My 2nd pissed me off really bad being later than my 1st though 😂
  • @thescarletmom My OB checked for dilation at my 36 week app with my second and said, oh she could come any day (I was a 4). She came FIVE weeks later. It was the longest 5 weeks of my life. Goes to show how little dilation means too.
  • @emeraldcity603 utterly nothing lol. With one of my kids I went from a 1 to a 10 in less than 20 minutes!
  • @thescarletmom I have sat at a 7 for a week with zero active labor in sight. Just sitting on the cusp of transition that’s all. Barely holding that baby in, walking around like nothing was about to happen. 😂
  • Had my checkup today. They didn’t do Doppler which I thought they might. She Scheduled me for the NIPT US mid September and my anatomy scan on Halloween 🎃 she is keeping my due date based on my LMP so 3/22. That makes me 9w5d today. Did labs and Pap smear and all that good stuff today. I keep getting random waves of nausea, but it’s usually when I haven’t eaten. Going to keep an eye on my BP, which is always fine until closer to 30/32 weeks. So for now nothing to do for GH. I do have to get an early glucose screening in the next 2 weeks. My food cravings change daily and I’m starting to be on the “I have no cravings and nothing sounds good” train. Other than that, all is well so far!

@lizdiane456 Good thing your charge was looking after you, and shift change was so close too! I can see how eight hour shifts would be much better than twelve. Even just those four hours can make such a huge difference, especially right now. I'm with you, hope this second trimester treats us all well. 🤞 I think the same with normally going past with the first and longer labor times and subsequent pregnancies one would think they come a bit faster. My OB put me at a week and a day later because she thinks I'll be post due again. We'll see! Haha

@thescarletmom So interesting dates were never changed based on measurement. Aww, haha, my experience was the other way around my first came late, so we'll see when the second one comes! My OB took all factors into consideration and dated me later than I imagined. I'm looking forward to my next OB so I can try and clarify the EDD and get a better understanding to how she got 3/14, from 3/06.

@emeraldcity603 Look at that! All your babies came when they wanted! It's so hard to try and put a finger on when to expect them. I could only imagine so many factors go into when they come. Can I ask you how old you were with your first? I started having children later in life, in my 30's because of many reasons but mostly parents drilled it in me to make sure I had an education before marrying and having children...etc. I tried to do everything suggested to me to induce labor with the first and nothing worked. Ended up getting induced at the hospital at 41+1. So interesting how dilation can also be a difficult tell tale sign.

@midnightatsunset I've got to give those drinks a try. I'm not too sure I've ever really gone for the elderberry flavors before. Worth a try. I have to admit I did have coffee the other day. My OB said one 8oz a day was okay but I haven't had coffee since before finding out I was pregnant, don't know why I just stopped all coffee. Had it for the first time in months, zero nausea. I was like what the heck haha.

@robinj716 Halloween OB check up, yay! 🎃 How cute is that? Hope you enjoy all the festivities offices usually have up or scrub sets some wear. So fun. I miss the east coast for sure when it comes to the fall. Hoping to get back there for a visit in the next 3 months so I can see all the leaves, and cool weather, it's gorgeous and brings fond memories. I too like to make sure my BP is in check, probably should start checking that with a home cuff soon. Not looking forward to the glucose test though, it stresses me out. With my first child, I failed my one hour and passed by 3 so I never had any issues just another thing that makes me weary. I've been throwing up quite a bit so I'm not sure how much weight I've gained either. I have no cravings either yet, I wasn't really a huge weird craving kind of gal with my first. One thing that does suck, I can't hold down ice cream!

  • @blossomingmama at least the area where I am, general practice is to not change due dates unless baby is measuring way off what you expect (more than 2 weeks either direction). And since I *knew* conception date with two of the babies there was no reason to change it. My babies just tend to measure a little small, a few days but no more than a week at any given time! This baby though is measuring several days ahead, which makes me think I guessed wrong when I was looking at my insane BBT chart and felt like there were two possible dates. I just picked the later of the two because they were only a few days apart and I knew it would hurt my feelings if I went late 😂 oh well! I told my midwife and since I tend to deliver during week 39, she wasn't concerned about moving it. She said if I tended to deliver in week 37 or week 41, she would look more closely to be sure since that comes with implications for safety.
  • @blossomingmama I was 17 when I had my first baby. I was 29 when I got pregnant with my second. So kind of like a second first baby due to the large age gap. Yeah, as far as dilation I do like to know how far I am dilated prior to labor starting but I have gone from a 2-10 in 6 hours and from a 7-10 in 3 hours. So dilation literally means absolutely nothing. I’m not even sure why I want to know my starting point. I guess it’s a mental thing.
  • Just wanted to finish replying to this week and continue for the next weekly check in!

@thescarletmom wow BBT, I never got that detailed, or ever really got into trying to track like that. I basically ovulated and was like, "hey if you want our little man to have a sibling let's try in the next few days!" 😂and 💥 bam- prego! My little bean stuck. 🫶I think it's also really great your midwife listens to you and trusts your experience in tracking all this. A midwife delivered by first and to think about it, she had 4 boys! Midwives are awesome, I'm also bias haha so. Thanks for sharing. It's actually kind of comforting having veteran moms with 3+ babies. You ladies are all great resources.

@emeraldcity603 wow I can't even imagine the mental agility and strength to get through a pregnancy at 17 and become a mom so young. I'm sure that built character for sure and had you grow up quicker than most. I'm with you with liking to know where you stand with dilation prior to labor starting even though it's completely unique to each pregnancy and each person. I honestly can't even remember how long it took me from water breaking to 10 cm. Maybe I can look in my previous record and find out there, it would be interesting to know. Thanks for sharing.
  • @emeraldcity603 fellow teen mom here - first baby at 19!

@blossomingmama to be extremely fair, my watch tracks my BBT and charts it for me 😂 I just look at it, or more often run to my bestie to read it because she's a chart wizard! In the last few years I've tried to get very in tune with body and cycle because of my endometriosis, so I've gotten decent at reading the charts and seeing the other physical ovulation signs.
But yes, I trust my midwife with my LIFE! She has 7 kids, and she is just amazing and has taught me a lot about knowing myself. A lot of the times when I describe symptoms or things to her, her follow up is "and is that normal for you?" It has surprisingly helped me so much as a mom! Learning to trust my gut and not need other people's say so or approval for things. I have gotten to a point where, while sometimes I might have a hard day and feel down, I generally believe I am a good mom and have good instincts and am the best person to raise my babies. It's a feeling I wish I could share with every terrified new mom!
  • @thescarletmom when he was younger people wouldn’t believe I was his mom. Everyone thought I was his sister. Boy did I get judgement when I sent him to public school. None of the other moms ever spoke to me. They wouldn’t let me take a small group of kids on the field trips like the other moms. I just looked super young and I guess they thought I couldn’t handle more than my own kid.
  • @emeraldcity603 aw, that makes me so sad. I definitely have a baby face to this day, and got many glares in grocery stores when I was pregnant and then newly postpartum. But by the time he was probably 2? I don't think anyone ever made any comments like "oh, you must be the nanny" anymore. And thankfully I've never been ostracized by school moms, it's hard enough being a young mom without being denied the community of motherhood with other parents 🥺 I chaperoned a field trip when our oldest was in kindergarten and I was the same age as some of the teachers. Then it was 2020 when our second was born (I was 22), so if I ever had to take him into a store everybody was just delighted to see a happy baby. By the time I had our 3rd, people presumed it was my first baby often (25 but I looked very young still, and not out of the ordinary to have your first baby in your mid-20s so I get it) but there was no longer any sort of anxiety on my part that someone might look at me the way they did with our oldest. But I have to say it's sure fun getting the "is this your first?" questions and getting to hit them with 4th.
  • @emeraldcity603 ugh, I can only imagine the judgement that was passed on you. I'm sorry you experienced that. I think the experiences you went through put you in such a unique situation to help young mothers with emotional support and encourage them to be strong. The benefit in starting early is getting a bit family! So blessings happen in all kinds of ways <3
  • @thescarletmom This was 23 years ago. 😅 Times were different back then. I also get the “is this your first baby” when I’m only out with the baby. I have to laugh because he is my 7th. 😂
