GTKY

edited August 26 in March 2026 Babies
I made a duplicate thread so I’m changing it to a GTKY!

Are you planning to take a baby moon during this pregnancy? If you have kids already and don’t leave them for trips, will you take a family trip prior to your delivery?

Re: GTKY

  • Yes, I think we will take a long weekend in December around the holidays when I’m off work. I won’t fly so we will have to be cold.

  • @fifilala516 We already have a family trip to Hawaii in October so that will be our last trip as a family of 8. 😜 we are actually a family of 9 but our oldest is an adult and won’t be joining us on this trip.
  • We rarely travel in this season of our lives, but this really has me thinking it would be nice to get away for a weekend with the kids! We have a lot of places within a few hours of us we could go to for a family babymoon. Omaha is a few hours drive, but has an insane children's museum that we've wanted to go back to since our last visit 3 years ago!
  • @thescarletmom I used to live in Omaha. There children’s museum is nice but the zoo is incredible. They were expanding it when we moved and I have really missed it. Lots of the habitats are in building too so they are accessible during winter which was very nice.
  • @emeraldcity603 We live in a big city with a great zoo! We have season passes to ours and it participates in a reciprocal zoo program, so we went to Henry Doorly while we're there just because we get in half off. But honestly I'm not much of a zoo girl, it's really not that much better than our home zoo (in my opinion, haha), AND we briefly lost our then-2 yo while we were there and so I'm traumatized by it. May or may not have an impact on the other zoo opinions I have lol. They had clearly recently renovated the children's museum while we were there though and it was 3 full floors! Way bigger than our children's museum, that is great and we love, but just can't compare. I really want to take our kids to Chicago (driveable) and Boston (not) at some point, but I don't know if we'll manage to get that far away with my work schedule being the way it is all the way up to baby being born. We've finally gotten to a point in our lives where all our kids do well in the car even on longer drives, and now we're adding another baby 😅 (our oldest two were big time car haters and couldn't go anywhere without screaming their heads off until after 2yo, but our youngest was mostly chill by the time she turned 1) so it feels bad to not take advantage and drive to Chicago, which is about 8ish hours, while we still can.
  • I have three kids already, and we don't have any big trips planned. We are probably moving states this winter, and it's going to be really hard because we're trying to move from Hawaii. With that and maybe visiting the in-laws for the holidays is plenty for me right now. And we just all took a vacation to Japan this summer.
  • Not a baby moon, just going to visit my family in the mountains over Thanksgiving. We are already planning a vacation just for hubby and I for just before this baby turns 1 though. I work NICU so there is a zero percent chance of me leaving the country while pregnant, I'm too paranoid, and honestly I'd only really be comfortable traveling to where I have family just incase. Which since my little bro moved home from Vancouver is just Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg, Brandon, and Ottawa...So really my options are Calgary and Ottawa.
