Re: Weekly Check-in 8/18/2025
@beachmama14 I usually always feel the worst in the evening. Also, a few weeks ago. It changed to all day until I started incorporating more shakes and snacking, just a little bit and when I do drink taking small sips at a time. Pants are my energy too, ugh!
edit: to add that I really miss my cold brew pick me ups! I miss the extra caffeine and the decaf versions still upset my tummy a little. Darn nausea!!!
@lizdiane456 Good thing your charge was looking after you, and shift change was so close too! I can see how eight hour shifts would be much better than twelve. Even just those four hours can make such a huge difference, especially right now. I'm with you, hope this second trimester treats us all well. 🤞 I think the same with normally going past with the first and longer labor times and subsequent pregnancies one would think they come a bit faster. My OB put me at a week and a day later because she thinks I'll be post due again. We'll see! Haha
@thescarletmom So interesting dates were never changed based on measurement. Aww, haha, my experience was the other way around my first came late, so we'll see when the second one comes! My OB took all factors into consideration and dated me later than I imagined. I'm looking forward to my next OB so I can try and clarify the EDD and get a better understanding to how she got 3/14, from 3/06.
@emeraldcity603 Look at that! All your babies came when they wanted! It's so hard to try and put a finger on when to expect them. I could only imagine so many factors go into when they come. Can I ask you how old you were with your first? I started having children later in life, in my 30's because of many reasons but mostly parents drilled it in me to make sure I had an education before marrying and having children...etc. I tried to do everything suggested to me to induce labor with the first and nothing worked. Ended up getting induced at the hospital at 41+1. So interesting how dilation can also be a difficult tell tale sign.
@midnightatsunset I've got to give those drinks a try. I'm not too sure I've ever really gone for the elderberry flavors before. Worth a try. I have to admit I did have coffee the other day. My OB said one 8oz a day was okay but I haven't had coffee since before finding out I was pregnant, don't know why I just stopped all coffee. Had it for the first time in months, zero nausea. I was like what the heck haha.
@robinj716 Halloween OB check up, yay! 🎃 How cute is that? Hope you enjoy all the festivities offices usually have up or scrub sets some wear. So fun. I miss the east coast for sure when it comes to the fall. Hoping to get back there for a visit in the next 3 months so I can see all the leaves, and cool weather, it's gorgeous and brings fond memories. I too like to make sure my BP is in check, probably should start checking that with a home cuff soon. Not looking forward to the glucose test though, it stresses me out. With my first child, I failed my one hour and passed by 3 so I never had any issues just another thing that makes me weary. I've been throwing up quite a bit so I'm not sure how much weight I've gained either. I have no cravings either yet, I wasn't really a huge weird craving kind of gal with my first. One thing that does suck, I can't hold down ice cream!
@blossomingmama to be extremely fair, my watch tracks my BBT and charts it for me 😂 I just look at it, or more often run to my bestie to read it because she's a chart wizard! In the last few years I've tried to get very in tune with body and cycle because of my endometriosis, so I've gotten decent at reading the charts and seeing the other physical ovulation signs.
But yes, I trust my midwife with my LIFE! She has 7 kids, and she is just amazing and has taught me a lot about knowing myself. A lot of the times when I describe symptoms or things to her, her follow up is "and is that normal for you?" It has surprisingly helped me so much as a mom! Learning to trust my gut and not need other people's say so or approval for things. I have gotten to a point where, while sometimes I might have a hard day and feel down, I generally believe I am a good mom and have good instincts and am the best person to raise my babies. It's a feeling I wish I could share with every terrified new mom!
