Somehow someway we managed to give our oldest a good birthday 😮💨 he got one on one time swimming with dad and his pick of dinner and dessert. We also caved and told our kids because they were starting to feel worried about mommy being sick, and they're all so excited. I was worried our oldest wouldn't be thrilled because it's hard being the biggest sometimes. But he is already trying to name the baby for us (after my ILs dog of all things 😂 but he wanted to name DD "peep 2" so I suppose it's an improvement).
@thescarletmom I’m hoping to wait until I start showing and they say, “mom! Is there a baby in your belly?!” And this time I can actually say yes! They have asked before because my stomach was still squishy from my last baby. 🫠 My MIL knows too. Which I’m super excited about because I was telling her about all my progesterone stuff and then the ultrasound. She is so excited.
@emeraldcity603 my best friend was over at our house recently to announce to the kids that "auntie" is having a baby and she was literally 26 weeks and not one single child noticed her bump 😂 even when asked. So if we waited for the kids to notice we'd just be introducing them to the baby lol. I'm glad you can talk to your MIL now!! It's so good to have at least one someone to be your soundboard before you're ready to share with more people.
I overheard someone talking about ordering an acai bowl yesterday and could not stop thinking about getting one, so right after I dropped my daughter off at camp, my husband and I went to go get acai bowls. It was delicious but I hope it's not a regular craving because it's SO expensive!!!
First trimester in the summer is the worst idea I've ever had. It was so much easier with my first in winter when I had nothing to do but hibernate. Now I'm just exhausted in peak busy season for our homestead. We finished our chickens weekend before last, so now I'm harvesting and preserving green beans, raspberries, peas, and cucumbers. I still have rhubarb I haven't dealt with. Honestly thankfully we didn't get many apricots this year so we just ate them all fresh so that's one less thing for me to do. My garden is full of weeds. Our toddlers birthday is this Saturday so I'm hosting my mom plus all the in law's, then also having another 6 or so people coming out just for the party Saturday. My mom will at least be helpful, my in laws are all active hinderences. Addendum one of my BILs is quite helpful just not for household tasks, more helpful for my husband. And my husband's been giving me a hard time about not working my horse and I'm like literally when am I supposed to do that? I do all this homesteading on top of 12hr shift work (10-12 shifts per month, mix of days and nights) and everyday I don't have work I have our toddler home with me.
You sound like super woman! I have a container garden. All we're getting right now are cucumbers and zuchinni and while I had a list of recipes I was excited to try with the zuchinni I am now too nauseated and fatigued to attempt any of them. Good for you on all you are still accomplishing during this trying period, but don't forget to care for yourself. ❤️
I wear a lot of leggings and they have been tight but not unbearable. Yesterday I put on my jeans and oh my goodness. That was an awful decision. I didn’t realize how bloated I have been. I guess I’ll be retiring those. I need to go pull out my maternity clothes from the basement. I stored them after my last pregnancy because it was suppose to be my last. I wasn’t ready to get rid of them just in case. 😅
@emeraldcity603 as the fool who trusted the "last baby" nonsense, I'm severely regretting passing on my maternity clothes 😂 nothing fits at all. I've been surviving at my business casual office job by the grace of approx 4 loose skirts I have and the 1 pair of maternity leggings I didn't get rid of lol. Its all a disaster.
@thescarletmom I have acquired an entire wardrobe of a lot of nice items so I want to be absolutely sure there isn’t a chance I could get pregnant again. I tried to get my husband to get rid of a bunch of baby gear we had in storage and he was like, “are you sure?” I said, “I thought we were sure, are you not sure?” That’s how all this got started. 😂
@emeraldcity603 💀 that's so funny. We had just sold a few baby things, like nursing supplies and our snuggle me, etc. thinking we were done. The only reason we hadn't off loaded everything is because we were holding some for my best friend due in October (felt very bad to tell her she could no longer have some of our bougie baby gear 😂) and because I'm too sentimental lol. My maternity stuff went straight to a relative who was pregnant as soon as I had my daughter though, so they were long gone.
@emeraldcity603 I saved all my baby and maternity stuff “just in case” for the last 5 years. I almost sold It All at a yard sale in May, but something told me hang on 😆 I fear my maternity clothes might not fit though as I’ve gained some weight 😐
Im pretty sure all my friends know I'm pregnant. My best friend said I look pregnant in my clothes and there isn’t anything I can do about it. The same thing happened last time around the same time. I’m only 8 weeks but my abs are just too weak to hold anything in. Anyways, no one said anything to me but there were some looks and my toddler did downward facing dog and a friend goes, “you know what that means don’t you?” I was like, “oh yeah, I have heard of that. Funny!”
Oh, just the usual chaos of parenting! Trying to keep up with my little one's boundless energy and juggle everything else. How about you? How is your week shaping up? 😊
