Best baby bottles

I’m a new mom expecting my first baby and me and my partner are stressing about what’s the best bottles to use . We recently bought dr.browns bottles but I’ve seen mixed reviews on them. Can anyone confirm if they are good or if I should return?

My honest opinion is that it may take some trial and error time to figure out what works best for your baby. With my first, I tried Comotomo, Dr. Brown’s, Philip’s Avent, and Tommee Tippee. The Tommee Tippee worked best for us. My disclaimer is that my son had an undiagnosed cow’s milk protein allergy for five months so there’s a chance that any of these bottles would have worked just fine had we not been feeding him dairy. We struggled a lot with spit up and thought the bottle could have been related, but it wasn’t.

I’ve heard good things about Dr. Brown’s. I’d probably just start with a small pack of bottles to see how it goes, and you can but more if they work well.

  • We used Dr. Brown's with my first and they were great for us! The main negative that we ran into was that there were a lot of parts to keep clean, but you can tier down the inside parts as your baby gets older and needs the gas reduction less. We also liked that Dr. Brown's made a pacifier that was the same shape as the nipple on their bottles-it ended up being the only paci my girl would take.

If you need to try some different ones, though, like kbmt recommended, Babylist has a bottle box that gives you several of the most popular bottles to test and see which one your babe likes best!
  • Honestly, every baby’s different. Dr. Brown’s didn’t work for us, but I know a lot of moms swear by them. If you already have them, I’d at least try before deciding.
  • Echoing what others have said: really depends on the baby. You might want to buy a sample pack and wait until the baby tells you what s/he prefers.

  • It’s super common to feel overwhelmed by all the bottle options, but try not to stress too much. What works for one baby might not work for another. I’d keep a few different kinds on hand if you can, and just see what your baby prefers.
  • I don't know if I've just been lucky, but my babies took whatever bottles. I did Dr. Browns because of the anticolic, but now I think many just have that. We then love to Phillips avent, because I have chunkers and those are the biggest bottles I seemed to find. I've heard great things about comotomo. We love the tommetippe sport sippy when they get older so I'm sure their bottles are good too.

A good bottle sanitizer is a great investment too. They make some neat ones now. I was gifted a dinosaur of one years ago. They aren't so sleek and nice now.
