Baby Shower!

I think it is getting to be baby shower time! I've dreamt of my shower my whole life... Not necessarily what takes place or what is eaten, but just having one. Mine is coming up on Aug. 2nd. My theme is pickles and ice cream and I will be opening gifts at the shower.

Are you ladies doing one? A sprinkle?

Do you open gifts? Only open gifts from people who want you to? Or do a display of unwrapped gifts?

What are you going to eat? Games?

Can't wait to hear!

Re: Baby Shower!

  • I know I’m late to this, but your shower theme sounds adorable! Pickles and ice cream is such a fun idea.

  • Thank you!! 💕
  • Display showers can be great if you want more time to mingle, but opening gifts adds that sentimental touch.
  • No shower for me as a 3rd time mom. But I am having an “iconic mom” party at our local bar 😆 As my bestie said “ it’s basically a bachelorette party for the baby” and my husband said “so your throwing a girls night party so all your mom friends can get drunk while your sober?” Yes why yes I am!!!!!
  • I'm having one for my side of the family and one for my husband's (our families are so big that it would just be way too much to accommodate for everyone at one party... and way too much for my introverted brain to handle). They aren't until mid-September, which gives me a little anxiety, but I'm not due until the very end of October, so it should be fine! We're planning on some games, snacks, and opening gifts at the shower for my side. My sister in law is doing all the planning for the one on my husband's side, so I have no idea about anything. She's even writing the guest list! I normally might worry about this, but I'm just so glad that I don't have to do any work for it.
  • We're having a super chill baby shower at my church. There's no theme or anything particularly fancy. My church is mostly made up of fairly elderly people, and the plan is basically just a potluck and listening to people reminisce about their babies and grandbabies. (I trust them all not to be annoying or pushy about their particular child rearing practices. They're all super cool former hippies.)

We decided to tell everyone they don't need to give us anything, but if they really really want to, they can bring frozen dinners, diapers, or books to read to the baby. Our registry is on Babylist, and I knew most people wouldn't know how to use it. We mostly got it just to keep track of what we need for ourselves.
