    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: TTM+

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: finding out

Upcoming Appointments: I have my first US today.

How are you feeling? I have been feeling like garbage. Smells are so nasty. The fatigue is taking me out and the nausea is hitting hard.

Rants/Raves: I spent the day at the beach yesterday with all my kids. We tidepooled in the AM and hiked to a waterfall in the evening after we had an early dinner. It was great. We spent the entire day with my friend and her kids.

    Questions: none

GTKY: What are you currently reading?  Jurassic Park. I’m on the last few chapters and it’s good. I guess I’ll have to watch the movie next. I’m also listening to HP with my kids. We are on book 4.

Upcoming Appointments: I still have about 3 more wks until my first appt and u/s

How are you feeling? Lost almost 10lbs at this point. I felt absolutely terrible Saturday and genuinely wondered if I was going to survive this pregnancy, then turned a corner Sunday and while I still feel crummy, it's overall much better than before!

Rants/Raves: rant.... I think my prenatal is making me sicker. I had a horrible week last week, and Saturday was so bad I didnt ever get out of bed to eat or brush my teeth or take my vitamins, and then miraculously yesterday and today I feel semi-functioning. This has happened every pregnancy, but I was hoping buying the more expensive, well reviewed one would be different. Nope! I think my babies just don't mesh with taking a prenatal. I might try again after the 20 wks mark when my nausea tends to be more manageable.

Questions: Anyone else just can't handle a prenatal? Did you ever find one you could tolerate?

GTKY: What are you currently reading? The Ragpicker King by Cassandra Clare
  • @thescarletmom I take Baby and Me 2 and have zero issues with it. I can even take it on an empty stomach. I would try to find something that works for you because the first trimester is so critical. I take an additional Choline (Needed brand for quality) and vit D (also Needed) to make sure I’m getting everything I need for baby. Once I run out of Baby and Me 2 I plan to take Needed prenatals. I prefer the Baby and Me 2 but I bought a bottle of the Needed brand so I’m going to use those up first.
  • @thescarletmom with my first I'm pretty sure I threw up my prenatal every single day. Unfortunately I don't have any advice, I tried a few different brands. Taking it with a small amount of milk helped the most but really not sure how much my body ended up absorbing for nutrients. This time around has been better so I don't know what's up with that.
  • @lizdiane456 yeah, it's gone exactly like that for me with all 4 babies and I've tried like 10+ different brands. My midwife has always said it's common for women with HG to experience it and that it just becomes a cost benefit analysis. Prenatals are important BUT if you're ending up in the ER for IV fluids and can't function in your regular life, that can be more harmful to baby than just doing your best to eat as balanced as you can. I think for now I just have to wait it out until my baseline is better, and I'm planning on trying Needed once I get there. @emeraldcity603 have you tried the electrolyte mixes Needed has? I take electrolytes every day but thinking of trying one of those to see if that agrees with me better to even make a little difference.
  • @thescarletmom I haven’t tried there electrolytes. I’m sure they are good. I have been pleased with all the supplements I have bought from them.

Upcoming Appointments: August 7 for U/S

How are you feeling? Pretty good, knock wood. Some cramps that come and go, as well as breast tenderness and fatigue. I alternate between ravenously hungry and queasy but my biggest complaint is just a really sluggish digestive system.

Rants/Raves: it’s going to be 100 degrees today. We may have a pool day but I’m also more than happy to stay in the AC.

    Upcoming Appointments: today, 1st prenatal

How are you feeling? The nausea has hit, not as bad as my first pregnancy but enough that I don't want to eat anything ever. Living on crackers and cheese. The fatigue is what I am struggling with most, I have about 100,000 tasks to do and am barely keeping up with basics like laundry and dishes. Also so much mom-guilt with my toddler, I feel like I'm not as present with him because I'm half asleep and I have him in childcare an extra couple hours today partially for my prenatal appointment but also I just need time to do things because I can't get anything done in the evenings after he goes to bed because I'm exhausted.

Rants/Raves: Kissing my husband makes me want to vomit. Something about the feeling of his stubble. How do I even broach that subject with him? I don't want him to feel bad. If he shaves it's back within a few hours (in case it wasn't clear this is a new, presumably pregnancy related issue)

Questions: fatigue fighting tips are appreciated! I can stomach exactly one cup of mostly-milk coffee and it is my lifeline right now.

GTKY: What are you currently reading? To be honestly I lack the mental capacity to focus on a book right now. I'm part way through "onyx storm" by Rebecca yarros (don't recommend), "the anxious generation" by Johnathan haidt (do recommend) and "the sun is also a star" by Nicola Yoon (I've have it for years and finally picked it up, I'm only a couple chapters in so no opinion yet)
