@thatbaintforbetty I’m so glad your OB is taking good care of you, and I’m sorry for the continued spotting.  I hope you can find that right long-term balance with the aspirin.  Hoping for more reassurances as you feel baby more.

How are you feeling?  Vacation has been so good but exhausting with late bedtimes…me and my sensitive hips are ready to be in my own bed tonight.

Rants/Raves:  More baby kicks/wiggles the last couple weeks have me 🥰 I was told at the early elective scan that I have an anterior placenta and it’s definitely been later to feel her than with my other two.

    Questions:

GTKY: What’s your zodiac sign? How well do you think it matches your personality?  Leo…honestly have no idea 🤷🏻‍♀️

  • @virginiaham weird. I think the responses did disappear…?

I had an anterior placenta with my first and it took forever to feel her moving. 👎 not so good on the anxiety, and I definitely would have had a harder time if I didn’t have my Doppler then what with all the other complications.

  • So weird. They all got deleted. Boo hiss! 👎🏻 i have an anterior placenta this time, but I do feel slight kicks and flutters,  which lessens my amxiety, but not by much. My OB did have a hard time with the doppler so she had to switch to ultrasound.
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: December 24, 16w0d

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: FTM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 💚

Upcoming Appointments: check-up today! then MFM for anatomy scan on 8/7

How are you feeling? Renewed after this afternoon’s check-up where we got to hear the heartbeat on the doppler. Thanks to IVF the last four weeks was the longest I’ve had to go without seeing/hearing baby (spoiled, I know) and I definitely felt the anxiety ramping up the last week especially. But all appears to be well, and so thankful for that.

Rants/Raves: My kitchen is in pieces 😩 as a rave, though, so far the cats and hubs are taking the upheaval better than I thought they would!

Questions: Did anybody elect to do the spina bifida blood test/screening at 16 weeks? My doc said it’s less reliable than the visual assessment at 20 weeks so it tends to just cause anxiety with false positives and then people have to wait until the anatomy scan to confirm, anyway, so we declined. But then I feel guilty and like I should be doing everything I can to learn more about baby and be proactive in their care…

GTKY: What’s your zodiac sign? How well do you think it matches your personality? I’m an Aries! I think I match in so far as I’d consider myself independent and a very loyal friend, but I’ve never felt quite as “fiery” as Aries are purported to be.
  • @aisleofviewtwo yay for a new kitchen!! Even if it’s a pain to get there.

I hate my kitchen but we rent so alas I am stuck with it for now. I dream of a decent pantry. And more drawers vs cabinets. DH and I have talked about designing/building from scratch one day because we such particular tastes/wants/hates. Like I’m a weirdo who hates marble. lol.

Also waiting a couple weeks for a better test does not mean you aren’t doing everything you can. I haven’t been offered that test but I also am not quite 16 weeks yet. I have a level 2 ultrasound on Friday for another reason but I doubt I’d opt for it if it’s already part of the 20 week screening with more accurate results.

Reading the above comments and I had an anterior placenta for a pregnancy before. You felt less movement but you still would feel it.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: 16+6

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: green

Upcoming Appointments: beginning of August for 20 week anatomy scan! How are we here already?!

How are you feeling? Feeling pretty good. Sometimes get randomly sick but overall really well

Rants/Raves: I wish summer would last longer. We have been busy with the kids and have tried to slow down and just relax some this summer but I already bought school supplies yesterday and school will be here nefore
    we know it 😭

Questions: I’m AMA and at my appt this week, I was told to start taking baby aspirin daily. I asked why and she said due to being AMA to prevent complications like preeclampsia. So I started taking it last night and hoping it doesn’t have any side effects to make me sick or anything for the next 5 months. Anyone else in this situation?

GTKY: What’s your zodiac sign? How well do you think it matches your personality? I dont know this answer at all. I think I’m a Virgo?

@dogmom5 I am AMA too and was told to take baby aspirin.

I am not currently because i have been spotting (not due to the aspirin, but since it thins the blood it makes it worse) and from what I have seen and know it’s fairly common now. I will be back on it once we can resolve the spotting problem, but as my doctor says it’s all what is the pressing issue in the here and now and currently the spotting is the priority, at some point that will change I expect.

I actually saw a medical journal about the decrease in pre-eclampsia across AMA patients since this has been implemented and i don’t remember the number but it’s clear the low dose does work against this particular issue. It’s less effective in twin pregnancy oddly enough though and I think there are current studies going on to see if the higher dose does work better in that scenario.

ETA: I also took mine at night before bed and never noticed any side effects (other than to the spotting)

@thatbaintforbetty I too have been taking the low dose aspirin at night. Hoping nothing comes of it to make me feel bad. My previous pregnancies have been fine with no major complications and this one I am just “old” now so I’m praying this is just an extra precaution for us old ladies over here haha.

@dogmom5 I've taken baby aspirin with all 3 of my pregnancies to prevent preeclampsia also. I've had 0 side effects from it, so I'm hoping the same will be true for you! I always come off it at week 34 too.

    EDD / Weeks + Days: Dec 4, 19+1

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green:green

Upcoming Appointments: anatomy scan on the 17th!

How are you feeling? Sciatica, PGP and lower back pain are a killer, but otherwise I'm doing much better.

Rants/Raves: My dr this week told me I could stop taking my nausea meds at 20 weeks but I'm spooked about it. My nausea was so bad this pregnancy; I never needed a medication with my other two, it always went away. I'm worried that if I go off I'll be nauseous again.

GTKY: What’s your zodiac sign? How well do you think it matches your personality? I'm an Aries, and for the lost part it clicks but I think my moon and rising game the Aries a little (Aquarius moon, Libra rising). I'm an Aries, my husband is a Taurus, and my sons are Libra and Gemini. This next one will be a Scorpio due to c-section 😬 so many strong personalities in one house lol
  • @rebecksah my doc hasn’t said anything about a stopping point but good to know! I hemorrhaged in labor with my first, but not the second and it was terrifying, would love to avoid that scenario again please.

I honestly think pushing for 5 hours and having her flip from sunny side up to face down back to sunny side up was a factor but who knows.

  • @thatbaintforbetty could be a Canada vs USA thing? I'm not sure! but I've always been told to stop so I DONT hemorrhage since it's essentially a blood thinner.

My sister lives in Virginia and there's so many differences between her care and mine 😂😅
  • @virginiaham yea, do not recommend, lol. I did have an epidural (and a great nurse!) thankfully but it was…rough.

We joke that she’s just ever so stubborn(like her momma🤣) and was going to come out how she wanted. I was a breech baby and my mom delivered me vaginally, came out butt/foot first and it a running joke that I showed the world what I thought of it from the very start. 🤷‍♀️

@rebecksah oooh yea, that could be a factor.  But it’s still something I’ll probably ask my doc about since I have hemorrhaged before.

  • I have a blood clotting disorder similar to hemophilia, but not anywhere near as severe. I was on low dose aspirin my last pregnancy with my twins, and again this time because I have multiple factors going against me (AMA, overweight, previous losses). I take it at night, and don't notice any side effects. @rebecksah if you continue to experience the nausea, don't be afraid to ask your doctor to stay on the medicine.
  • @thatbaintforbetty oh my gosh. 5 hours with a twirling baby? Yikes a roni! We just bought a house and I love my cabinets and drawers. The countertops are terrible, though! They're tile with grout. I think they're actually floor tiles. I can't stand how every little thing gets caught in the grout. 👎🏻 I swear the people who lived here before us were on some kind of drugs because everything is backwards here. Even the wiring for the doorbell. 😂
  • @bridgiebee82 I was told if I come off the and still feel nauseous to go ahead and keep taking them! Thank god because I felt too terrible to move for most of my pregnancy so far because of the nausea.
