One thing that helped with my little one was warming up the bassinet slightly with a heating pad (just remove it before laying baby down) so the transition from your chest to the bassinet isn’t such a temperature shock. Also, try laying him down slowly, keeping your hand on his chest for a few seconds to make it feel secure. Sometimes a gentle shushing sound or white noise machine can help too.

Omg yes — my baby boy LOVES white noise too! It’s one of the only things that helps calm him down, especially at night. I haven’t tried warming up the bassinet yet but that’s such a good idea! I’ll definitely give that a shot tonight. Thank you for sharing this tip, mama!
  • Try holding your hand on his chest for a minute or two after you lay him down. Sometimes that little bit of contact helps the transition.
  • Swaddling helped us a lot. It kept my little guy from flailing and waking himself up when I transferred him from my chest.
