  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 12-26 / 14&3

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: 3rd

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: blue!

Upcoming Appointments: today at 3:30 (urgent follow up - fifths disease exposure/spotting increase/headaches)

How are you feeling? Anxious. Swollen. Frequent headaches. Tired, but slightly less so. My spotting has increased slightly and combined with other things has necessitated being seen.

Rants/Raves: my youngest got fifths disease from one of the kids at my dad’s birthday party. Apparently thats not so great with me being pregnant (my SIL is as well) so it required a blood test to confirm, which she did so well for. We finally got results Sunday and I emailed my doc right away, and they want to see me, which I’m honestly totally okay with. I had the worst nightmare the other night that I miscarried and it’s really not helping the anxiety. My spotting went away and then came back and I think it might be increasing slightly, which also is not helping the anxiety.

    Questions: nope

GTKY:  Do you have any 4th of July plans or traditions?
Not really, DH works nights so some years he’s free, but others like this year, he’s not. CA fireworks, at least the ones available publicly for sale, are very tame, lol. Which I understand cause we are a big wildfire risk state. With it getting dark so late, it’s not really logistically possible to go to any events either.

Upcoming Appointments: Elective ultrasound this Wednesday. (We haven’t had one since 7 weeks. And I want a picture of her when she doesn’t just look like a blob lol)

How are you feeling? Feeling great! Clothes are getting tighter, but in general it’s been a great experience so far

    Rants/Raves: na

    Questions: na

GTKY:  Do you have any 4th of July plans or traditions? Have two options. Either going up to northern Michigan to a friends lake house or staying local at a friends lake house. Either one sounds great and relaxing. And I’ll be the DD 😜
  • @thatbaintforbetty I’m sorry to hear you’re still dealing with spotting, and now sickness in the family on top of it. I’m glad your doctors are monitoring you closely. FX for a good report from today’s appointment!
  • @aisleofviewtwo Thank you! It barely even seemed to register with the kiddo, no fever, no issues, just pink cheeks and the rash. I think the most we saw was she took an extra nap one day, lol. And thankfully all good at the appt! Baby has grown, and was looking great. Still super active and my doc confirmed that what I think is movement is in fact me feeling him. She sent me for some blood work to confirm my antibodies and said it’s likely my headaches are my body fighting it off. She also took me off the aspirin for a couple days to see if that helps decrease the spotting, as thats the bigger concern right at this moment.

  • @thatbaintforbetty what a relief to see baby happy and healthy and growing 💛 when I had bleeding from an SCH stopping the baby aspiring helped a ton; hope you see similar results!
  • @thatbaintforbetty I'm glad you had a good appointment! I hope your anxiety has gone away, if not lessened since seeing baby moving around. 🩵

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 🎀🩷🎀
Upcoming Appointments: 7/16 for growth and anatomy scan, 8/4 at MFM
How are you feeling? I've had bouts of dizziness and weakness these last 2 weeks, and I really think it's from the heat. 🥵 I also feel like that's contributing to me being a raging B. 😤 I feel bad, but I have zero patience with anyone lately, especially my husband. Stressed out about my son's 3rd birthday party coming up in 2 weeks since my house is a disaster from me feeling weak and not being able to do anything. So, overall, not so great. 🙃
Rants/Raves: Mosquitoes can go right back to the bowels of hell. I'm sick of them. Our county doesn't spray for them, which is fine by me. But even if we spray our yard or wear bug spray, it does nothing. 🦟
    Questions
GTKY: Do you have any 4th of July plans or traditions? In the morning, we will go to the local July 4th parade, and then probably go to my dad's house for a BBQ. My brother went to Philly for fireworks since they're illegal in NJ, unless it's an official show. So we will watch some fireworks at my dad's house and then go to the River and watch all of the different neighborhoods from Philly set theirs off.
  • @bridgiebee82 Hard agree, the transition to the summer heat has been ROUGH 🥵

    EDD / Weeks + Days: December 24, 14w6d

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: FTM

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 💚

Upcoming Appointments: oxt Wednesday 7/9 for 16wk check-up, then 8/7 for anatomy scan with MFM

How are you feeling? I feel like it goes in waves, one day I feel basically normal and then next I’ll be suddenly bloated and crampy and flattened by exhaustion.

Rants/Raves: The last week was hellish at work but I got the last big project off my plate yesterday. And now with July 1 and the close of Q2 it’s a lovely opportunity to refresh and reset.

    Questions:

GTKY:  Do you have any 4th of July plans or traditions? Nada. Growing up we’d often sit on our front porch to watch the city’s fireworks show, but these days I don’t even stay awake past sunset so it’ll likely just be a Friday like any other.

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 💙

Upcoming Appointments: July 10th - Anatomy ultrasound!

How are you feeling? Hungry! Finally got a little more energy this week.

Rants/Raves: We moved recently, and I still haven’t found an OB that I like. This last one went on a rant about how dumb it was to have midwives/doulas, and told me that I could bring a birth plan to him and he would tell me what he might agree to. When I asked about laughing gas, he just said no with no reasoning.

Questions: What questions would you ask an OB to know if they’re a fit for you? Do you call the offices, or do you have to make an appointment?

GTKY:  Do you have any 4th of July plans or traditions? - Nope, but I’m having some fam visit and am hosting for the first time! I’m excited to EAT a bunch and show my tiny baby bump.
  • @knottieb2998da38a2c292d Wow. Thats…honestly appalling behavior from an OB.  And I would drop them like a hot potato.

I think as far as questions it depends on what’s important to you. The health system I have is pretty contained, you really only use their network. So my first point in finding an OB was location, secondly I prefer a female(I have no doubt a male can be a good OB/Gyn but studying vs having the anatomy makes a difference to me). Big question is how is delivery handled? I get whatever doc is on call at L&D, most likely not my doc, but some systems are different. If your doc does delivery, what are the requirements/logistics(certain hospital/etc). How do you feel about cervical checks? Strong opinion against? Make sure they are okay with that. If they don’t end up delivering, what is the plan? What are the hospital policies/details? How do they handle questions, what is the procedure if you have an urgent question, do they align on you feel about midwives/doulas/birth plans/labor choices/pain management/delayed cord clamping or bathing. Open dialogue is incredibly important and you need to feel comfortable with asking questions or bringing up your concerns with the certainty they will listen.

Also I recommend changing your username, it’s much easier to identifying and tag you. (You will have to log out and then back in to have it take effect.)

How are you feeling? Exhausted, bloated, still dealing with a ton of aversions and all day sickness...
Rants/Raves: We found out that we are expecting a girl after 7 boys and ended up announcing our pregnancy, the sex, and our name choice. People have been super supportive and excited for us, in a crazy overwhelming way. The day after we found out it kind of sent me in panic mode as I was bombarded with all the just you wait, this pregnancy and labor is going to be so different, and people already shopping for all the crazy girly, pink, ruffles, bows bigger than a baby's head, etc to send my way. I know they are excited, but oooof. I just need to process everything for a bit since I've spent the last 15yrs in a totally boy world.
But after my panic I did find my girl aesthetic and thankfully at least one of my sisters are very receptive and have changed their tunes a bit. Definitely going more gender neutral,  dainty, traditional route instead of crazy girly.
    Questions: Na.
GTKY: Do you have any 4th of July plans or traditions? We have a 4th of July birthday kid! We'll do a lowkey birthday party with us and probably Godparents!

@thatbaintforbetty I am so glad your Dr's are keeping a close eye on you and baby and that baby boy looked good and was active! Praying bloodwork comes back good and the rest of your pregnancy goes smooth. What a ride!!!

@bridgiebee82 ugh yes on the heat, freaking mosquitoes, and hormonal rage.

@aisleofviewtwo yay for finishing up with a big work project!! Hopefully this quarter goes a bit smoother and easier!

  • @nopegoat hooray for a 4th of July birthday! I have a friend who has the same birthday and she always says the postage and fireworks are for her celebration. 🎉 My family is ecstatic about buying girly things too. Except that is not my style at all. How am I going to have a frilly ruffle girl, a complete rough & tumble boy, and me-looking like Adam Sandler all together? Lol but for real, everyone is very excited for be to have a girl. I still can't believe it. I'm more worried about having a healthy baby and going to term. Every day I kind of have a mini-freakout about going super early, losing the baby, being put on bedrest... my last pregnancy, I had 2 weekly appointments at this point. I don't get seen for another 2 weeks and I'm continuously spiraling, wondering if something is wrong, especially since baby is still so small and I only feel flutters occasionally.

@knottieb2998da38a2c292d you definitely need to fire that OB. Male or female, they need to respect you as a paying customer, which is really what you are. Fire him and find a new one. It's hard in a new area. Maybe join a FB moms group for your area and ask for suggestions.

@aisleofviewtwo yay for ending Q2 and being able to start fresh. I hope things are going smoothly!

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 🎀🎀

Upcoming Appointments: 24w, I THINK maybe doing the glucose test, but the midwife in my practice told me about The Fresh Test on Amazon and said I can bring that and use it instead of the glucola…PSA check with your office to see if they’ll honor that for your test if you’re at all wanting to avoid glucola.

How are you feeling? The world did not fall apart and my husband was able to take his leave so we are out of town visiting family and I feel AMAZING.

Rants/Raves:  We stopped on the way here to meet our new puppy, who is coming home with us in 2 weeks…he is so so sweet and we’ve been longing for another family dog since we lost ours to cancer in November.  Social media/the internet is a WEALTH of training resources even compared to when we did the puppy stage 10 years ago, but y’all I  seriously feel more prepared for a new baby than a new puppy 🤪

    Questions:

GTKY:  Do you have any 4th of July plans or traditions?  Just plans with family to do a dinner BBQ and neighborhood fireworks show.

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: finding out in about 10 days.

    Upcoming Appointments: July 14, anatomy

How are you feeling? I feel good about 5/7 days in a week. But I am crazy exhausted, having some lightheadedness and bouts of feeling like im going to pass out. I asked for bloodwork to check ferritin so we’ll see how that comes back. In the meantime, a friend swears by beef liver supplements so I will order that.

Rants/Raves: I am feeling overwhelmed and anxious about delivery, even though I’ve had 2 previously uncomplicated births. But I’m in a new state, with new providers, new hospital, no close friends nearby… I’ve cried 3 times this week about it.

    Questions:

GTKY:  Do you have any 4th of July plans or traditions?
We’ll host a few neighbors for burgers + splash pad. Low key but it will be fun!
