As a mom of three, I can tell you that this moment happens to just about every parent at some point – when your kid suddenly learns of this thing called 'rap music' and they're already convinced it's the "cool" music to listen to. It happened with my son when he was 11 and then again with my daughter at 9. The youngest is 5 and he already knows the words to what his siblings have been playing so I guess instead of discovering it, he won't remember a time without it.
And let’s be honest – I assume most of us can agree that you don’t just load a music streaming app on their phone and let them discover whatever rap they stumble across. Nope. That's not happening.
So, of course, we did what most parents do: we looked for “kid-friendly rap.” And honestly? We had no luck at first. Everything we found was either overly cheesy, low-quality, or just plain embarrassing (as my son kindly put it). He even begged me never to play it when his friends were around!
But then through another mom with a kid on my sons soccer team, I found something that changed everything: Cool Raps 4 Cool Kids. Seriously, it’s not your typical low-effort “kid rap.” The producers behind it are actually the same people who make hit songs for adults, and they put just as much effort into making these songs sound genuinely good while keeping them clean and family-friendly.
There's songs about soccer, basketball, summer time, camping, hanging out with friends, pets, going to the doctor, flying on a plane/going on a boat - and a ton more, there's like 2 new song every month too!
I admit, we play it in the car on the way to school and I've left it playing after dropping them off and it's just me in the car, it's catchy, be prepared to have these stuck in your head as well.
And no, I’m not selling anything here – best part is all their stuff is completely free! Just search “Cool Raps 4 Cool Kids” on YouTube or Spotify, and you’ll find all the songs ready play (I’m pretty sure they’re on other sites too, but those are the ones I know for sure.)
Trust me, your kids will love it, and you won’t have to cringe every time they blast it with their friends around! Hope this helped someone dealing with something similar!
