How are you feeling?  So so thankful baby girl looked great on the anatomy scan.  Generally ok this week, but I have no idea how we’re already almost halfway through 😳

Rants/Raves:  MH and I went to the anatomy scan sans kids last week and had some time to kill in the city.  I had big ideas but it was so hot and we literally just picked out some post-birth wine, had an amazing ramen lunch and headed home early.  He’s military and the mood has been ~heavy~ this last week to say the least. 😣

    Questions:

GTKY:  You guys, Cheetos.  I only let myself get a tiny 50 cent bag once a week when I go to a certain grocery store for all of my produce and otherwise generally nutrient dense foods, but there it is.

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: BOY! 💙

Upcoming Appointments: weekly diabetes check in and 16 week appt some time in July.

How are you feeling? So. Freaking. Swollen. W. T. F.

All of a sudden my feet are balloons. (And yes I messaged my doc!) My boobs are holding out as super painful/sensitive, im hungry (not that I can eat cause diabetes), still tired AF, and my hands hurt (think my tendinitis is being exacerbated by pregnancy).

Rants/Raves: The shock on DHs face when we read “male fetus” in the test results was epic. I’m so excited and a little nervous about having a boy, very happy we don’t have to spend the next 6 or so months trying to agree on a girl name!

We gave the girls a present that had a blue dog plushie and some blue candy to tell them and they haven’t let the dogs out of their sight since. It’s super adorable. Our older DD was super excited, she wanted a brother, the younger one was pouty for like 10 min cause she wanted a sister, lol.

Also we told my family at my dad’s birthday party on Saturday, got a blue onesie that said “grandpas little helper” with tools on it and put it in his present!

Questions: anyone else have swelling start this early? I didn’t with either of the girls but they were very different seasons(April and July), I know I had some at the end but not early on.

GTKY:  What something you’ve really enjoyed this month? Strawberries! And being able to drink my one alloted cup of coffee without rushing to get out the door to do drop off.
    this is my backup acct.

EDD / Weeks + Days: 12/23. 13+6. My due date changed after my first appt with my midwife. She is going by the dates I gave her based on conception and her ultrasound which measured perfectly with the dates so no longer a Christmas day baby. Though I may keep that day as my due date in my mind so maybe I won't be quite so antsy in the end.

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: 8th baby
Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: finding out hopefully this weekend!!!

Upcoming Appointments: Elective Ultrasound this Saturday and next midwife appt July 18
How are you feeling? Exhausted. Bloated. Still getting a horrific taste after I eat anything. And smell aversions have been insane.

Rants/Raves: we originally booked the elective ultrasound because my husband wanted to see the baby and make sure everything looks good before he leaves out of the country for possible a month. We found out when booking that they offer gender determination starting at 14wks so hopefully baby will cooperate and we find out if we continue our streak and have our 8th boy or if we will have 7 boys and our first girl. Suuuper stoked for either but so ready to just know. If we find out we will also be announcing our pregnancy on social media, well to the people that didn't see MIL's announcement.....

    Questions: Na.

GTKY:  What something you’ve really enjoyed this month? My husband got home yesterday and every pregnancy he always treats me with cherries!! One of my favorites!! So he stopped and bought me some and then sent me to take a bath with a huge bowl while he cooked dinner. Definitely cherries!!

@virginiaham congratulations on your baby girl. Sending you, your husband, and all the rest of our military and their families so many hugs and prayers. ❤️

@thatbaintforbetty congratulations on your baby boy!!!! What a sweet way to tell your girls and your family!!!

And yes! I've found the more pregnancies that I've had the quicker and more intense symptoms start. With this heat I've also noticed a good bit of swelling already especially since salty seems to be my jam. Even moreso when I've been on my feet all day. Water, water, and more water and elevate feet whenever you can, as I'm sure you already know. I hope it gets better soon.

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: GIRL!!! 🩷

Upcoming Appointments: August 4th - basic check up for heartbeat

How are you feeling? Feeling great. I’ve been very fortunate and grateful to have had a great pregnancy so far.

Rants/Raves: picking out important stuff like car seat and stroller is stressful. Theres negative reviews on everything and i’m scared to make the wrong choice.

Questions: I really want to invest in a good wagon. One where it will work well on gravel and possibly sand. And that will also have a canopy. I found one at target. It was a Jeep brand. And then came home to look at reviews and they were HORRIBLE. So back to the drawing board.

GTKY:  What something you’ve really enjoyed this month? Fruit. All and any fruit!!
  • EDD / Weeks + Days: 17 weeks, Dec 1

    FTM/STM/TTM+/it's complicated: third

Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: finding out in 3 weeks at anatomy scan. Feels like so many of you already know!!! I’m jealous

    Upcoming Appointments:July 14

How are you feeling? More energetic but with bouts of tiredness (opposite of first tri where I was constantly exhausted with just a rare energetic moment). My BP has been weird lately… 152/52 but it was done with a wrist cuff at the dentist so I’m not sure I trust it. I sent a message to my Dr anyway bc I have been having headaches and some faintness.

Rants/Raves: This feels like the eternal pregnancy. However summer always goes quick so I’m hoping it starts to speed up.

    Questions:

GTKY:  What something you’ve really enjoyed this month? Ramen noodles. Not the cup- the little orange Maruchan bag. Chicken flavored. Omg. I can’t get enough. It’s summer and I want soup!?! Also, cantaloupe lol

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green:💙

Upcoming Appointments: 20 week anatomy scan in mid-July

How are you feeling? The worst of it is the constant breast pain, but other than that, I'm thankfully not doing too shabby.

Rants/Raves: I am incredibly thankful for the healthcare system in my current country.  An ultrasound is guaranteed with each visit every 4 weeks, and SO affordable, even with labs or additional testing. I feel like I'm being super-massively spoiled by it. ...It's going to be such a wake-up call moving back. :'(

Questions: When did/do you start buying things to prepare for baby? Is it something you should start early on, or wait? My anxiety gets the better of me, and I feel as if I will jinx something if I buy too soon...

GTKY:  What something you’ve really enjoyed this month? Fruit smoothies and air conditioning. :)
  • @simplicidee23 I think buying can depend on many factors. You said you are moving? How easy can you transport stuff? Is there a change in electrical supply or plug type? Are the car seat rules or any thing relating to cars going to change?  When are you moving in relation to the pregnancy?

I don’t remember where you are vs where you are going, my memory is terrible right now.

I know we are planning to move at the end of March so I’m trying to hold off on a lot of things we won’t need before then. I also know that some things will probably be part of a possible Black Friday sale. Some things I will wait for the completion discount to get.

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: Team Pink!

Upcoming Appointments: July 21 for anatomy scan

How are you feeling? This week I started noticing more discomfort from things growing and getting more uncomfortable sleeping at night. I think I may have to pull the plug on buying a pregnancy pillow.

Rants/Raves: I want all of the foods I can't have - a cold sub, sushi, charcuterie, you name it. It's going to be a long 25 weeks, but I enjoy making a list of all the things I can't wait to eat after baby arrives. I also am enjoying swapping out a drinks for a dessert at dinners right now.

@Melissa112009 I am also having similar stress and anxiety about picking a stroller and car seat! The amount of options and opinions is so overwhelming.

Questions: Do y'all think it's smart to add stuff to registry, for nursery for example, that I don't expect anyone to purchase for us, but that way we could use a registry completion discount?

GTKY:  What something you’ve really enjoyed this month? Got to spend a week at the beach earlier this month and just relax, which was so nice. I'm also loving all things cold fruit - recently bought fruit popsicles to get me through the hot summer too.
  • @caffeinatedandtired For sure! I think with Target you actually have to purchase all remaining things on the registry to get the discount fyi. Could be wrong though.
  • @virginiaham Praying this cease-fire holds, for everybody’s sake.

@thatbaintforbetty I’ve definitely noticed my hands swelling more on my walking commute to/from work. They don’t seem to like the summer heat 😞

@nopegoat Ugh cherries are my absolute favorite summer fruit but I refuse to pay full price, watching every week for the sales and hoping they arrive soon!

@Melissa112009 With reviews I always try to remind myself that it tends to be the people who LOVE an item and, especially, the people who HATE an item who take the time to leave reviews—but the vast majority of people like it fine, get good use out of it, and just never report back. If it’s all bad that’s a problem, but if there’s a healthy mix of good and bad I’d say try not to worry yourself too much!

@brookejay06 I talked to my OB about headaches a couple weeks ago. She recommended upping my magnesium to 400mg/day and adding an electrolyte drink in the afternoon (when my headaches tend to form). It seems to be helping.

@simplicidee23 My instinct has been to wait to buy most things that aren’t needed right when baby arrives. I get that you don’t want to be making big purchases while horribly sleep deprived during the 4th tri, but my impression from watching others is that they stock up on all this stuff that either they don’t end up wanting/needing or that baby rejects. I also just hate how companies prey on parents’ fears about safety and health to convince us we need a bajillion things to successfully raise a baby, when the truth is that humans have been doing it with a lot less for a really long time.

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 💚

Upcoming Appointments: 16-week check-up on 7/9, anatomy scan with MFM on 8/7

How are you feeling? Pretty ok! NOT adapting well to the summer heat and continually surprised by how fatigued and out of breath I now get doing things that were totally standard pre-pregnancy. But really, grateful I feel well enough that I can forget I’m pregnant until I decide to jog up a flight of stairs 😂

Rants/Raves: Work is a nightmare this week. Our performance cycle ends 6/30 and it feels like everybody’s rolling out their projects at the last minute to try to meet their goals.

    Questions:

GTKY:  What something you’ve really enjoyed this month? Each year my husband decamps to his family cabin in the mountains for the month of June. I love him and I promise I miss him by the time he comes home, BUT, man I am loving getting to take my half out of the middle of the bed, eating all the foods I love but he dislikes, and really just being my most slovenly self with nobody around to judge.

    Team Finding Out/Blue/Pink/Green: 🩷🎀🩷

Upcoming Appointments: 7/16 for the anatomy scan, 8/4 for MFM

How are you feeling? Irrationally angry. 😬🫠 I just get so annoyed so quickly. I'm bloated, tired, and hungry 24/7. I want nothing to do with anyone anymore. I just want to rest.

Rants/Raves: Rant: the facilities manager at my church where I work makes everything so difficult. We have a major feast day celebration this weekend, and there are 2 days of celebrations (Friday and Sunday). They've been planned for months. He acts like he just found out this week about them and is mad that he has to set up the tables and chairs. But if someone else puts them out it's the end of the world. And then he complains to thw priest that no one communicates with him. He will literally walk away from me when I'm mid-sentence. He's so rude and disrespectful. You really can't win with this guy. It's obnoxious to have to work with him because he doesn't want to work with anyone else.

    Questions: n/a

GTKY: What something you’ve really enjoyed this month? Spending time outside with my little guy. He is almost 3 so everything is so wonderful to him. Chasing lightning bugs, splashing in puddles, watching the birds and squirrels run around our yard, planting and watering our garden. He really helps me to slow down and not be in such a rush all the time.
  • @aisleofviewtwo @thatbaintforbetty We are moving from South Korea back to America, hopefully next March or April after my husband's immigration paperwork and interview has been sorted.  Because I'm just an ordinary US citizen and not affiliated with the military or anything, transporting stuff between countries is limited to postal shipping by boat (about 3 months with severe restrictions) or whatever we can pack in our bags to come home.

Between Korea and the US, everything is different... voltage, plug types, even typical car seats and installation.  I'm planning just to get a (secondhand) bassinet and a stroller that can grow with baby, but still fit on planes and such... Besides that and the necessities for baby (diapers, wipes, onesies, a few bottles), I plan to wait for baby to get here before buying too much more! Especially since I have no idea how big baby will be, or when exactly we'll get the green light to move back!
  • @simplicidee23 oh yeah, I think you’re definitely making the right call! Are you moving to a location in the US that will be near family? If so and they have some storage space, another option might be to order an item (back ordered, on sale, or just something you know you’ll want) to a relative’s address. That way it could be a few less things you’re trying to juggle with an infant in tow.
  • @nopegoat Oh my gosh!!! How exciting!!! Congratulations!

@thatbaintforbetty thank you!! Shocked is an understatement.  I told the poor ultrasound tech to please don't be offended if you say girl and I don't believe you after so many boys its hard to even imagine anything else. She took like 90 pictures.  Over half of them are potty shots because she was trying to make 100% sure and prove to me that it was in fact a girl!

  • @nopegoat oh yay! That's so much fun! I'd totally be in disbelief, too! I actually still am, even though the bloodwork on the NIPT is pretty accurate. I don't think I'll believe it until I see it!

@simplicidee23 wow, that's a LOT to handle, let alone while pregnant. @aisleofviewtwo has a great suggestion about having family hold items for you if they'll be nearby. Being out of breath doing simple things is exhausting. I know I'm pretty overweight to begin with, so that's an issue I was actually starting on tackling after our loss in January, but my Dr told me to take it easy on exercising (not stop altogether just less) because I wasn't in great shape to begin with. I can do low-impact exercise and obviously eat right. I'm trying to, but dang, it's hard to breathe! Lol
  • Also.. my brain is mush these days. What does the w/o stand for on the top of these threads? 🙃
  • @nopegoat WOW!!! First girl! That’s so exciting!!
