We are announcing soon to my dad about my pregnancy. He has a gf who he has been with for 10+ years. She’s kind of like a step mom but she came into our lives when I was an adult so we’ve just always referenced her as my dad’s gf. But we consider her part of the family. I’m not sure if I should just assume she’d want to be called a grandparent name or if I should ask her what she would like to be considered (grandma, aunt etc) she’s also maybe like 10 years younger than my dad I believe. I have an announcement “gift” for my dad but I didnt get her anything so I’m not sure if we should. I’m calling it a belated father’s day gift since we didnt see him then. Probably over thinking….
Re: What to call parent’s s/o?
As for the gift, if you are framing it as a late Father's day gift then I don't think you need to get her anything. Maybe get her something baby/grandparent related for the next occasion you would get her a gift so she feels involved.
