any suggestions for travelling with toddler

I amplanning a few trips with my toddler over the next few months and honestly I’m a bit nervous about how it’s going to go. 😅 This will be our first time flying together and I want to make sure I’m as prepared as possible.

I have been reading articles and watching videos but I’d really love to hear real advice from parents who’ve actually done it. What are your best tips for traveling with a toddler?

Specifically:

How do you keep them entertained during a flight?

What are your must-have items for the airport and plane?

How do you handle naps and snacks on the go?

Any stroller or carrier recommendations for travel?

Any advice, big or small, would be super helpful. Thanks so much in advance to anyone willing to share!

    Traveling with a toddler can definitely be a challenge, but with a bit of planning, it can go much more smoothly than you expect! When it comes to entertainment on the flight, I recommend bringing a mix of small toys and activities—stickers, coloring books, water-reveal pads, and a tablet with some favorite shows or games downloaded (don’t forget kid-friendly headphones!). Rotate these items during the flight to keep things fresh and interesting.

    My must-have items for the airport and plane include plenty of wipes, extra clothes for both of us, a cozy blanket or stuffed animal for comfort, a spill-proof sippy cup, and a few gallon-size ziplock bags for trash or wet clothes. I also pack small, easy snacks like cheerios, cut fruit, or cheese sticks—something that doesn’t make too much mess.

    For naps on the go, I try to schedule flights around nap time if possible. A soft blanket and a white noise app on my phone really helped my toddler settle down. As for getting around, I highly recommend a lightweight travel stroller like the GB Pockit that folds small enough to fit in the overhead bin. I also loved using a soft carrier like the Ergobaby through the airport, especially when little legs got tired or she needed extra comfort.

    We flew with LOT Polish Airlines, and they were actually great about accommodating us. I had a few questions beforehand and contacted them here—super helpful and made me feel more prepared. Honestly, it all felt a bit overwhelming at first, but the trip turned out to be such a fun and special memory.

    Naps on the go are tricky! Try to stick to their usual schedule if possible, or at least create a dark, quiet space with a blanket or travel sound machine.

    I always bring a backpack diaper bag and a foldable stroller we can gate check. For naps, I just plan flights around her usual nap window and bring her blanket and lovey to help her settle in. Noise-canceling headphones helped too.
