Product Spotlight: Baby Clothes/Toys/Books 🧸

The most fun category! Where do you (or plan to) buy baby clothes? Which baby books do you like/have you been gifted? And what toys are a hit for that first year?!

Re: Product Spotlight: Baby Clothes/Toys/Books 🧸

  • I am loving Magnetic Me onsies! I have a bunch for him up until around 9 mo. I love traditional clothing so I am a big fan of: Little English, Feltman Brothers, Magnolia Baby, Cecil and Lou, Kissy Kissy and of course Mini Boden and Hannah Anderson!!

  • I'm really lucky to have a super nearby maternity and baby consignment shop, so I'm more than sure I'll be buying a lot from there - why buy all new stuff when kids grow so quickly?
For books I'm excited to get Dr. Seuss books, they're how I learned to read and I have really sweet memories of my mom and Gramma reading them with me!
  • We have a couple weddings in August and I’m already looking forward to buying the little dress outfits!
We’ve received a ton of hand me downs as well as a few cute little outfits already. Waiting till after our shower to see what toys and books we still want to get, but I got dad-to-be a book to read with baby for this past Christmas.

I've been going through my baby clothes from my other kids and realized I have sooooo much 6-12 months clothing. Most of it was gifted, and probably because most gifters were also mom's they knew not to give tiny clothes, but then it resulted in just getting way too many of the same size clothing anyways 😅

I personally liked zippered onesies more than buttons, preferably with a 2 way zipper so diaper changes are even easier. My kids didn't really wear pants/shorts at all, especially during summer, just a t-shirt onesie (don't remember the actual name for what they are actually called). We also loved the consignment stores for cheap and gently used clothing. I would pick and choose though for name brand items and anything that looked like it came off of Amazon or with a strange sounding name I'd put back, same with novelty/cartoon characters. I got a lot of Carter's, Osh Kosh, etc second hand.

I really don't think I need to buy any baby clothes this time, so I'll need to have lots of willpower to stay away from the consignment stores. Baby clothes are just too cute!

I have a book obsession. Most of our books were either gifted or bought second hand, but we currently have hundreds of picture books and board books. One tip, window/moving part books are cute, but my kids have destroyed most of ours. So unless you want to monitor the books 24/7, I'd suggest just some nice sturdy board books with no flaps or anything. Fabric books are also great and so much harder to destroy! We loved the classics like: Goodnight Moon, Little Blue Truck, Goodnight Gorilla, Very Hungry Caterpillar, etc and also Dr Seuss! The board book versions are much shorter and better to read to little kids, though I also liked the full versions.
  • My mother in law likes to buy clothes for the kids and tends to only shop at Gap kids, which has been great. Their clothes have mostly held up after being passed down three times. They hold up really well. If we have a boy, we definitely will be using them a fourth time.
  • @linh18 very much agree about the 2-way zippered pajamas/onesies! I feel like whoever designed the buttoned ones never actually had to put one on a baby lol!
  • Some toys/books that my son really liked as a baby were: black and white high contrast books, the “indestructible” crinkle books, crinkle toys in general, the fisher price kick n play, and stackable cups.

We have so many hand-me-down clothes, but when I do buy clothes I like Carters and Old Navy. I have not yet succumbed to buying anything from Little Sleepies but I get so many ads and oh my goodness, their stuff is so cute (but pricey…)
  • With our first we loved the zipper onesies right away. Snaps were too much in the middle of the night. For toys, anything that crinkles or lights up was a hit the first year.
