Advice for Comfortable Sleep

I’m currently 21 weeks into my first pregnancy and have been experiencing significant discomfort during sleep. While I’m naturally a side sleeper, I find myself predominantly on my left side due to severe heartburn when lying on my right. Sleeping on my back isn’t advisable at this stage, so I’m left with limited options. Consequently, my left hip and shoulder have started to ache, and I suspect my overly soft mattress isn’t helping. Unfortunately, replacing it isn’t feasible right now. Does anyone have suggestions to make sleeping more comfortable under these circumstances?

  • I'm 18 weeks and right there with you on the hip pain. The sciatica pain occurs on either side I sleep on and I just want to sleep on my back to get an ounce of sleep. I've found that a heating pad does help but if you're like me, I run hot and the heating pad just becomes too mich heat for me. These summer months are going to be rough. I think I might need to recruit my husband for nightly massages to see if that helps relieve the pain.

  • Hi! 18 weeks and struggling with the same. I’ve been doing The Sculpt Society Prenatal Program, and they have tons of great stretches and strengthening workouts for hips, back, sciatica. I notice a big difference on the nights where I’ve done the workout/stretches vs when I don’t. If you don’t want to pay for the program, I’m sure there are tons on YouTube that would work great. My pregnancy pillow comes in today. Will keep you updated on whether it works!
