I tried co-sleeping with my newborn during the first week, but it just wasn’t working out. Our toddler, who’s almost 2, is pretty clingy and often disrupts the baby when she's in bed with me. So, we've decided to keep the newborn’s crib in our bedroom instead, that way she’s still close by but it feels like a better arrangement for everyone.
Yes! We love it! king sized bed, I use my long pregnancy pillow as a barrier between baby and the edge of the bed when he’s on that side, and I move it between him and my husband when he’s nursing on the other side. I basically just move him one side to the other to nurse and sleep all night. He feeds around 30 mins so I usually fall asleep before he’s done and wake up to him resting on his side with his chubby cheeks propped up on my breast.
Other things of note: I have a closet light on so I can see him enough in the dark and I have a small firm pillow next to my head to lay my arm on when side-lie nursing.
Been getting mountains more sleep this way vs. getting up for feedings or putting him in his Halo or Momma Roo; he just doesn’t stay asleep long enough in those! And with it being colder temps, I love him sleeping against me so I can help keep his temp regulated.
For the record, I co-slept with all 3 of my previous children up until around 6 months old. 2 of them ended up doing better in their cribs sooner though.
@MrsCaliRN SAME HERE!! King size bed, pregnancy pillow to separate baby from my husband and I too switch him side to side nursing him and wake up to a similar view! So precious and I sleep all night basically. Today we didn’t get out of bed until 10:30! I also co slept with my 3 other children until they were between 1 or 2 (depending on each one’s needs/wants) then they get moved to a floor bed in their own room.
Works great for us and hubby 100% agrees with co sleeping.
I just started co-sleeping with my 2-week old. My husband is still a bit wary but it’s so much easier to feed/sleep in this arrangement. I keep him in the middle of our king bed, on the fitted sheet only. He ends up tucked into my breast/side which seems very comforting for both of us I bough a side railing for the bed as well so I can rotate sides easier without worrying about him on the edge of the bed
I do the same pregnancy pillow technique, it’s way easier than sleep training and traumatizing him in the process. First time mom, just followed my instinct.
