๐๐ง๐๐ฌ: When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Re: Weekly Check in 3/31
Rant: much harder to breathe nowadays ๐
Rave: another week closer to my little boy being earth sideย
I really wanted to be a singer or a newscaster. I was a ham as a child and always wanted to be in the limelight. Iโm now a marketing manager and am very content being more behind the scenes ๐
I think most people feel gross after drinking the glucose drink. It's really sooo much sugar, and on an empty stomach. I felt horrible, even started shaking a bit, and all my blood glucose came back normal and within range. (Standard here is a 2-hour test instead of the 1-hour one, so even more pokes). Hoping everything comes back normal for you!ย
I wanted to be a hairdresser! I remember doing the most wild hairstyles on my very cooperative babysitter haha
Also my supervisor is really starting to get on my nerves at work and I feel like itโs really negativity effecting my workload. Luckily I have a meeting today to touch base with my manager and Iโm hoping to bring this up and come to a resolution that will benefit all parties.ย
a marine biologist!ย
Rave - my doctor was great yesterday listening and responding to some questions/concerns I had
I fluctuated through my growing up years so much that I canโt even remember everything!
Itโs a little harder to breathe sometimes and itโs getting less comfortable sitting at a desk all day (hip and RLP)
Rave: I finally definitely felt baby move (without any doubts that it was baby this time)! My husband even felt it move once too. We were both so happy.ย
Is the glucose drink really so disgusting? Anybody try the Fresh Test they have posters about at the dr?
A mechanic when I was little and then a brain surgeon when I was older. I landed somewhere in the middle and work with data now lol!
@ruthiedoberenz I havenโt had GD myself, but have counseled several moms in my dietetics practice. The idea is to eat moderate, consistent amounts of carbohydrates throughout the day. Do you have an appointment with your doctor to discuss? You could ask for a consult with a nurse/dietitian diabetes educator. If youโre in the US, the American Diabetes Association website also has some great resources.
I was diagnosed with GD with my second. It was a little hard at first to get used to tracking my blood sugar levels but it wasn't too bad. I just hated poking my finger, it didn't hurt really, it was just annoying.ย
Right when I was diagnosed I was able to go to a group where a nurse practitioner explained to us all how to use a blood glucose monitor, what sort of diet and lifestyle changes to make, and what we could expect the next few weeks of pregnancy. It was really helpful, so ask your doctor about if it's available in your area.ย
I was able to keep my glucose levels in check by diet changes (less carbs, more protein and fiber, more veggies etc). And I would go for a short walk after meals just to help get digestion going. Not eating too late in the evenings also helped because then I'd get some activity in before bed, allowing my body to digest.ย
The only thing I really gave up completely was sweetened drinks. I still had desserts and things, just cut back on the portion sizes and went for healthier options that contained protein, fiber and fat, not just simple carbs.ย
