1st Trimester

Early cramping question

First pregnancy, found out yesterday. No idea what is going on or what’s expected. I know everyone’s pregnancy is different. However, I am having lower abdomen pain about 2 inches below the navel. It is like a cramp, lasts about 5-10 seconds, but localized and only when I stand up too fast from sitting down. It’s more localized than period cramps. I only really noticed it yesterday but it could just be that I’m more aware of it now.

Re: Early cramping question

  • Congrats! I'm on my first pregnancy as well. I would reach out to your OB-GYN. Mine sent me to the ER for cramps, where we learned that everything was normal and healthy. I've been reading that some cramping is normal during the first trimester. It could be from the cyst (Corpus Luteum) that grows on your ovary and supports a healthy pregnancy and/or it can be from your uterus stretching.
