Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: we’ve made it to the raspberry stage this week 🥹
Upcoming appointments: I have a telephone intake appointment on Friday, I think at that point they’re going to schedule blood work and the dating ultrasound.
How are you feeling?: awful 🥲 the nausea smacks me in the face in the morning and in the evening, but I’m usually able to function during the day.
Rants/Raves: I generally hate ginger ale and sprite always reminds me of being sick as a kid, buuuutt, I’ve been adding grenadine to ginger ale when I feel really gross and it’s sooo good.
Questions: Does anyone else have a day or two a week where their nausea is much worse? I swear Sundays and Mondays are always notably worse for me.
GTKY: What TV shows have you been watching lately? I’m soo late to this show, but my SO and I have been binging Shameless lately.
Team Green/Pink/Blue: Planning fo find out at 20w scan.
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is size of: 🫐
Upcoming appointments: First appointment with Midwife won’t be for another 6 weeks
How are you feeling?:
Nauseous ALL day and night, been since the beginning of week 5. Most food sounds completely unappetizing and I never feel like cooking.
Rants/Raves:
My family knew that we were trying, so every time I see them they constantly ask if I’m pregnant and ask why I’m not drinking etc. I get they they’re excited but we are keeping it quiet for a reason.
Questions:
Any suggestions on announcing to close family? We are planning to keep it secret for about 2 more weeks and then telling our immediate family. (That will be at 8w). We are both the first in ouf families to have kids so I was thinking of getting something cute that said “grandma, grandpa, Auntie” etc.
GTKY: What TV shows have you been watching lately? Parks and Rec, Love is Blind, SNL
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: they app says “keyboard key,” but that seems big, so idk
Upcoming appointments: 3/6
How are you feeling?: depression hit me hard this weekend and isn’t letting up. I was bad about my sugar/carb intake, especially on Saturday, and made myself sick. (I wasn’t wearing my glucose monitor, so I don’t know how high my blood sugar got, then when I put one on late Saturday night it said I was hypoglycemic for much of yesterday.) I feel guilty. Past comments people who I was close to have made about me being selfish and lazy, especially ones like “too selfish to be able to properly care for someone else,” started playing on repeat last night and I can’t seem to get it to stop, probably triggered by my poor eating on Saturday. I feel like a disappointment in pretty much all aspects of my life right now. (I’m also struggling with work and have been spending most days in bed.) I’m also scared of miscarrying or that there’s something wrong with baby. I struggle with eating, even before I was diagnosed as insulin resistant, and drinking enough fluids. Crying is not helping with dehydration and insulin resistance and food avoidance isn’t helping with eating. I am struggling.
Rants/Raves:
Questions:
GTKY: What TV shows have you been watching lately? I just binged The Middle and am looking for a new comfort show
@knottie1e53dad8a007533c I'm sorry you're having a rough time. Are there any professionals in your area that have certificates in perinatal mental health? If you're in the US you should be able to search on psychologytoday.com. I see a psychologist (for therapy) and a psychiatric nurse (for prescriptions and vitamins) who specialize in perinatal mental health to stay on top of everything and they are worth their weight in gold.
I called the OB/midwife office I have my appointment with and told them that I’m struggling. They were really sweet and even though they didn’t have any openings, they are going to squeeze me in for a symptom appointment this Thursday. First ultrasound is probably still going to be on 3/6 though.
Upcoming appointments: Had my firth appointment with my OB yesterday incl. an ultrasound. Everything is there and looks good. I will have my next appointment in 3 weeks and my first appointment with my Midwife in 5 weeks.
How are you feeling?: Quite good. A bit tired, but walking helps and that's great to go outside during lunch break. I don't like food anymore. Normally, I am a foody and need to eat quite a lot of (healthy) food to keep up with training, but not atm.
Rants/Raves: My husband LOVES my OB and is excited about the next appointment. He came with me for my yearly check up in November because he was a bit anxious about a pregnancy, but he was so comfortable with her and the way she talks and expresses herself. I am so happy he feels comfortable now.
Questions: Is anybody here who doesn't have the best relationship with their parents? I don't know how to tell them. We will also wait until easter to tell them so that I am out of the 1st trimester and hopefully be in a great emotional state.
GTKY: What TV shows have you been watching lately? Sweet Magnolias
@preisful let me know how it goes! It's been on my mind.
My dad doesn't really make an effort to be part of my life. I thought about just texting him or just letting him know next time I see him even if I'm literally 9 months pregnant
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: an Appleseed
Upcoming appointments: tomorrow
How are you feeling?: Stressed! I had severe abdominal cramping last night so went to the ER and they found a cyst on my right ovary. Could be an ectopic pregnancy so I will be closely monitored the next few weeks.
Rants/Raves: it’s been really hard advocating for myself this past week. I’ve been having weird symptoms and knew something was off but all my providers brushed me off until I went to the ER and they found something.
Questions: Would really appreciate anyone’s thoughts/experience with ectopic pregnancy if anyone has them.
GTKY: What TV shows have you been watching lately? Call the Midwife and Love is Blind to catch a break from the touching moments that make me cry in Call the Midwife
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: an m&m!
Upcoming appointments: ultrasound on 3/10
How are you feeling?: absolutely awful. Nauseous 24/7, zofran only made me constipated so stopped that. Having a hard time hydrating and eating has been a chore. Hanging in there but man it is ROUGH.
Rants/Raves: the smell aversions are killing me. I can hardly go near my husband, I have to wash my hair every day or I can just smell my scalp 🤢 and any scent or fragrance just sends me spiraling.
Questions: just hoping I’m not alone in all these wild symptoms. I know (hope) they will get better but it is very lonely these days. Have struggled with anxiety in the past and already have it on my OB’s radar they were great, but yea lots swirling in this head!
GTKY: What TV shows have you been watching lately?
@alisonmarie_1 you are not alone with the morning sickness and food/smell aversions. I’ve been feeling nauseous 24/7 for about 2 weeks now and it’s getting physically and mentally exhausting. Cooking and eating good meals was one of my favorite things and now I can’t even go near this kitchen without wanting to get sick. Everything you hear about eating small meals and hydrating is just so difficult when nothing sounds appetizing.
I just ordered some sea bands, and am switching to a gummy prenatal so I don’t have to worry about downing 8 pills/day. Hoping those things help, and hoping to get through this asap! I’m 6w5d.
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: 10/12/25 and currently 7w6d today
FTM/STM/STM+: FTM but we have raised my wife's brother since he was 11, he's 13 now.
Team Green/Pink/Blue: Pink
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: She's about the size of a raspberry at this point.
Upcoming appointments: Not until 12w3d omg
How are you feeling?: Wonderfully happy but very nauseous and easily exhausted and she's cried several times.
Rants/Raves: Going 6 weeks without getting to look at her is just insane!
Questions: We have no family support and are doing this completely on our own. We really wish we could have a baby shower but have almost no one that would be able to come to it and the few people who would probably wouldn't buy gifts. Would you think it cringey or weird if we explained this on social media and asked people to consider checking out our registry? It feels like asking for handouts but it's a lot of money!
GTKY: What TV shows have you been watching lately?: Crime docs and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
@preisful My wife has a strained relationship with her mom. She called and told her she was pregnant and she made some hurtful religious comment and hasn't tried to talk to her since, it's been over a month. It makes her feel awful. For us, it was a matter of giving her an opportunity to be excited or say something nice and because she didn't, it set the tone for the future - boundaries to protect my wife and our daughter.
It sucks not having supportive parents or family at all from our perspective. We get excited about being pregnant or having and baby and have no one to share it with other than each other. Other people get to go baby shopping with their mom or their dad helps build the crib or paint the nursery or something but there's none of that and sometimes it feels like grieving what could be if we had normal sets of parents.
Estimated Due Date/Weeks + Days: October 24/ I’m 6w&1d
Team Green/Pink/Blue: I’m very much team blue but my fiancé is completely convinced it’s a girl
Interesting Baby Fact/Baby is the size of: I believe the baby at 6 weeks is the size of a lintel or oddly enough I see a lot about it being referred to as a tadpole lol
Upcoming appointments: Mine is march 27 and I should be 10 weeks! Crazy to think about to be honest.
How are you feeling? Wow. What do I say. Exhausted isn’t even a good word to describe it. I was determined to take a 30 minute nap today and snoozed my alarm like 7 times? Also today was the first day that i genuinely was sick over everything. “Oh I haven’t eaten yet”, sick. “Let me make food”, sick. “Maybe a hot shower”, you guessed it, sick. This is my first time being pregnant so I'm not sure what to do but man google isn’t helpful. Nothing but stress. Also I can’t get my heart to stop beating out of my chest today.
Rants/Raves: I’m ready to see this little baby but I can’t until 10 weeks :( so far it has flew by so all I can do is just try my best to not go in every baby isle and clean the shelfs lol.
Questions: I’m pretty young and still not comfortable with the idea of getting a pelvic exam or the ultrasound (if you know what I’m saying) but every thing I look up says you have to? My obgyn place only has male doctors. I just don’t want to be looked at weird or they make me wait longer/ or say I have to so I can see the baby. Right now the only worry I have is about the appointments since the majority of the time I find everything out last second.
GTKY: What TV shows have you been watching lately?: I absolutely love the office you can’t go wrong with stupid comedy. Me and my fiancé love watching classic kids movies too and breaking them down to see which ones we want our kids to watch. It’s super fun and gives you that sense of being a kid with your partner. Also who knew how many adults jokes were in kids movies?!

@summitforbreakfast ugh, the chicken aversion is one I've gotten every time, bleh. So far I'm good, but its still early haha
@littlebird515_ cold sprite with grenadine sounds great right now
