Trying to Get Pregnant

Is this bad or could it be normal?

Last week I got a positive pregnancy test after over a year of trying. Booked a checkup for this week. Given my last period was 31st of Dec they said I should be at around 5-6 weeks, but they couldn't see anything on the ultrasound. They took a blood test and called me back today to confirm that yes, I am pregnant. They said that it must've just been too small to show up on ultrasound. Did that mean I just ovulated late and aren't as far along as I should be? If it's that small could that mean there's something wrong with it? I've had a MMC before and I'm too scared to get my hopes up.

  • This is the TRYING to get pregnant board. You should post this on the first trimester board instead.

But also, yes, you could have ovulated late, or, if they did an abdominal ultrasound you could be at 5-6 weeks and it’d still be normal not to see anything yet. This is why a lot of doctor’s offices don’t have you go in this early.

  • Could be that you ovulated late. Unless you were tracking your temps there isn’t anyway to know. It could also be that the baby stopped growing and your body hasn’t registered it yet. I really hope you just ovulated really late. For now, you’re in a limbo until you see a heartbeat.
  • babyfoxchaser  If they did an internal ultrasound, they should have been able to see sac and tell you how far along you are.  But, if they did external ultrasound and you're not even 7 weeks, it's hard to tell anything from that.  Are they bringing you back in a few weeks for another ultrasound?  Are they doing HCG betas every 2 days?
