September 2025 Babies

Day care

Good morning ladies!!

I know this is crazy early lol but I’m a planner and when I’m stressed about things it helps to figure them out even if it’s months ahead of time. Lol

Do you know what your plans are with baby? Will you be working? Any work from home mom’s here? Will you be working from home with baby or having someone help watch me?

My main question in this post though I’m wondering what your opinions are on this…
I go to the office twice a week and my commute is about an hour each way. Would it be better to put baby in a daycare by home or in a daycare by work. I like the idea of it being by Work because it’ll be closer to me if there’s an emergency. But I like the idea of it being closer to home because that’s less time baby will have to spend in the car.

Re: Day care

  • This doesn't directly apply to me because Im a stay at home mom, but I wanted to pipe up and say that it's really not crazy early! You need to start thinking about these things and getting on wait lists, depending on your area. Some places have such long waiting lists for their infant care, its absolutely absurd!

If you need daycare, get yourselves on those lists nice and early to ensure your little one has the right care :)

That’s kinda what I was thinking too. I would hate to be stuck if they have waiting lists. Our situation is a little unique in we will only need a couple days a month. So finding someone that can work with that too may be harder
  • I'm a SAHM but have plenty of family and friends that have used daycare---get one multiple lists ASAP! Spots for infants are hard to come by. Also most people that I know ended up choosing a daycare that was closer to their work
  • if i was you, id want baby near me at work. If they called and said she had a fever or something was wrong, an hours drive would be hard for me to focus/drive safely.

But what would work for me might not work for you so you could tour both though and see which one you feel better about and like better!?
  • My vote is definitely for a daycare that is closer to your job. There's nothing worse than having to drive far to get your child when they're is an emergency. That could potentially put you at risks because you're rushing/panicking. And like someone previously said, some waitlists can take a really long time. So getting a head of things is a great idea. I'm also a planner, so there are a few things that I did before even getting pregnant. 😅 Like a registry and baby shower list.

I'm a FTM but have worked as a Teacher's Assistant and a live-in nanny over the past 12 years. I'm planning to work until June that way I can enjoy those last couple of months before baby arrives.

I plan to stay at home with baby and take a class or two at the local community college. My partner and I plan to homestead in the near future which is basically working from home. But we honestly have no idea what we're getting ourselves into in regards to that. 😅🤷🏽‍♀️
  • I suggest finding a daycare near your work as others have mentioned, or look into a Nanny or nanny share situation!
My plan is to work as long as I can and then stay home with baby for a few months and then probably find a family to Nanny for like I did with my daughter when she was born :)
  • I work full time running a manufacturing plant, so there’s no remote option for me unfortunately. I’ll work right up until birth and then probably take three months of parental leave before returning. With our first we did a nanny for year one, which was great other than when she was sick we had no options. This time around baby will go straight to my daughter’s school. We pre-registered to make sure we had a spot for next school year, and thank goodness we did because we immediately got pregnant!

We’re very lucky because her school is walking distance from the house. It’s my husband’s favorite part of the day to walk her there and walk her home.

I had daycare lined up before I even got pregnant. This will be my third and daycares are in short supply.

I do live in Canada so can take either 12 or 18 month mat leave. My work has a generous top up so I will be taking advantage of this and baby will start daycare in September 2026
  • Planning on enrolling my September baby in daycare with my then 2 year old next January.. there’s already a waitlist! It’s seriously never too early to jump on it. Worst case scenario is you change your mind and eat the enrollment fee (usually 75-100 bucks depending where you go).

We chose a center near home since my husband and I work in opposite directions of home. It’s a good halfway point for all the times they call us to pick up our toddler when she’s not feeling well.
