I used to love the book โ€œIn a Dark Dark Room and Other Scary Storiesโ€ by Alvin Schwartz and would insist that my mom read it to me weekly (despite her protests that it was a book for Halloween ๐Ÿ˜‚). Thankfully my siblings didnโ€™t get nightmares or I donโ€™t think it would have made it into the bedtime rotation as frequently.ย

I also really loved โ€œThe Giving Treeโ€ by Shel Silverstein and will be getting a copy to put in my sons nursery ๐Ÿ’•

I also checked out Where the Sidewalk Ends SO many times from my school library; I loved the poems in it so much. • @dmcg17 The weeks are absolutely flying this time around! I had a moment last night where I was like OMG July is going to be here before I know it. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I recently started a list of things we'll need for baby #2: a dresser for the nursery, a glider/rocking chair for the nursery, another Hatch sound machine, another camera for the baby monitor (we have one that can connect to two different cameras), blackout curtains for the nursery. Maybe a new diaper pail??

We're also going to stock up on NB/size 1 diapers, wipes, and I need to double check that our infant car seat hasn't expired (it will be 6 years old when baby is born, and I'm not sure how long they last...)

  • @tashaandpeanut Were actually going to IKEA this coming weekend to look at dressers & chests for the nursery! We have to grab some bookshelves for our office and have been eyeballing nursery furniture for a while. We most likely will just be browsing as it looks like some of our color choices may not be in stock (& we have commitment issues lol).
  • @cosmicmclain With my first, I felt flutters/vibrating around 19/20 weeks. I think the technical term for this feeling is the โ€œquickeningโ€. And then I felt actual kicks around 22/23 weeks. At the anatomy scan, youโ€™ll find out if you have a posterior or anterior placenta. If itโ€™s anterior, it can take longer to feel kicks. Something to keep in mind!ย

So much better. Some nausea still with certain foods, smells, or when taking vitamins. But tomorrow it will be a week since I last threw up, and Iโ€™m so happy ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ™ˆ Mainly now dealing with tiredness during the day, trouble sleeping at night, acid reflux!, and anxiety about not knowing how to be a mom

Rant: The Bump app article this week recommended a free pregnancy meditation/mindfulness app called Mind the Bump, but sadly the app is no longer available from what I can tell ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Sorry if itโ€™s already been asked but -Howโ€™s everyone feeling when it comes to baby names? I think weโ€™ve officially settled now on a name for our daughter or son. It feels exciting and also such a big responsibility to choose a name!

๐—š๐—ง๐—ž๐—ฌ: What was your favorite book as a child?ย

I loved Anne of Green Gables!

@sonjanae Iโ€™m really sorry you are still feeling sick :( I hope it improves soon. That sounds really tough.ย

Mine suggested to gain a pound a week once I felt better (I lost a little weight from feeling sick, havenโ€™t gained yet either)โ€”Iโ€™m hoping now I can start eating more food like chickenโ€”good idea on protein. Itโ€™s hard for meย to not just want to eat pretzels or crackers.ย
  • @watermelonsunshine There is a quote I love:

โ€œThere is no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good oneโ€

I know the anxiety about motherhood will be there regardless, but do know that simply the fact that youโ€™re thinking about how to be a good mom means you really will be a great one.ย

Rant is I cannot bring myself to even start to think of baby items. I swear I have forgotten everything you need ๐Ÿ˜‚ going to try to sit down this weekend and get organized. We have to do a ton of stuff to get both my daughter and new babyโ€™s rooms ready as right now my daughter has a toy room and bedroom haha

๐—š๐—ง๐—ž๐—ฌ: What was your favorite book as a child? Oh, I was a huge reader. I loved a lot of the books mentioned. Some authors I donโ€™t believe I saw mentioned were Roald Dahl (I was obsessed with The Witches) and Betty Ren Wright. I also LOVED The Babysitters Club. I loved Holes and The Giver when I was a little older.

Shout out to all the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Series of Unfortunate Events ladies out there!ย
  • @watermelonsunshine we pretty much had a boy and a girl name decided before I was even officially pregnant, but we've also been married 10 years so have had lots of time to discuss!ย
  • @lalalauren15 Betty Ren Wright!!! I almost said that one, but was worried it was obscure. I loved her books. I checked them out and read them over and over again!ย
  • @watermelonsunshine We have had at least one name finalized before knowing we are pregnant. Funnily enough, it has usually been a boy name and each time it has been a boy. This time it was a girl name we landed on first and so I canโ€™t help but think itโ€™s a girl this time. We quickly landed on a boy name, too, so maybe it doesnโ€™t mean anything. Iโ€™ll let you know come July! I will say I have a note in my phone where Iโ€™ve listed names and kind of our name journey. Itโ€™s fun to see us sorting through it and landing on a name, then starting over the next time around.ย
  • @routtymama haha! I freaking loved her. The Dollhouse Murders was elite.ย
  • @watermelonsunshine & @butterflyhunny Same for me and my husband. Weโ€™ve had names picked out for almost 2 years (Iโ€™ve always known what I wanted to name a daughter though). We adore the name that we have picked for our baby boy though.
