It’s not 15 weeks but my doctor can’t see me until 11 weeks which I’m finding frustrating.
Do you have a dating ultrasound booked? If I were you, I would go to a walk in clinic and get a requisition for a dating ultrasound (and Michal translucency if you want) since they are time sensitive.
I just had my first appointment at 12 weeks, after the office rescheduled to push it back 3 times--I think OB offices are so focused on squeezing in patients with more pressing needs that a new patient appointment can get kind of pushed to the back burner for a while.
I wouldn't worry too much about it--just read up on what foods to eat, what medications to avoid, and keep a log of any symptoms you find strange. If anything gets worrisome, either go to the ER if it's bad or call the OB office for an earlier appointment if it's something you think should get you prioritized but isn't an emergency.
I actually wound up going through my primary doc office to get a referral for an early 9 week ultrasound (since they actually answered my messages), because I was having some wacky symptoms ONLY on one side and I was super concerned and losing so much sleep that it might be ectopic (I was even having a hard time allowing myself to get any kind of excited about the baby, I was so afraid I would lose it after getting attached! my mom had several losses, including a scary ectopic brush with death) 😳 but I refused to wait long enough for my symptoms to escalate enough to he ER-worthy. Everything turned out to be okay, but I am glad I went for peace of mind and going around the OB for that apparently required the imaging department to see me in a timely manner, and it finally got me some OB office attention (even if some of it was slightly negative/confused why I had gone through a different doctor).
My actual first appointment went great! OB staff was awesome, just dealing with a terrible scheduling system and a TON of patients to try to accomodate. And it's SO much easier to get the next one scheduled once you're in!
I’m glad it’s not just my OB that has been overloaded, though it’s definitely not fun to wait. With my first, I got in at 8 weeks. I didn’t see the doctor with my third until 14 weeks, but that was mainly due to COVID at our house (I never got it, but the quarantine window kept getting longer with each family member who did test positive). This time they wouldn’t schedule me until I was at least ten weeks along. It’s so hard waiting to hear everything is okay. I will say that depending on the appointment or if I really wanted to see a certain doctor, I will schedule a few appointments at a time so I’m not at the mercy of their packed schedule. It was really nice especially when my work schedule was hard to work around.
