January Randoms

For anything and everything you want to share!

Re: January Randoms

  • Planning to tell my boss I'm pregnant on Friday. Would love input if anyone has already done this! She's a sweet and supportive person, but it's definitely going to be complicated when I'm out since I'm currently the only person who does my exact job!

  • @butterflyhunny Good luck today! I’m sure all will go well. Assure her that you’ll do whatever you need to have coverage while you’re out (getting others trained/up to speed/etc). But my hunch is that she’ll be very excited for you!!!!
  • Thanks @bigworldlittleg! It did go well and she was excited for me. It's going to be a little funky because I work for a school district so none of us will be at work when I actually go out on leave, but hopefully she will have things figured out for my coverage well enough before summer so I can prep them!
  • @butterflyhunny I was in the same spot with my last three pregnancies in being the only one who did my job. We ended up delegating certain tasks out to a few others (certain tasks went up to the CEO, others went to other managers) and there were some projects that we just paused until I got back from leave. I made a guide so anyone could jump in if the backup was out (my second was born at the start of COVID so there was a lot unplanned, extended absences). I also had a list of resources at the back with helpful contacts (labor attorney, insurance point person, etc.). It was a little stressful trying to think through all that could happen in 12 weeks, but people are usually very happy to help so you can enjoy your time with your little one. They will also be so happy when you are back!
  • @routtymama that's kind of what I'm thinking I might do to some extent! Luckily I'm pretty organized so it shouldn't be too hard for someone to pick up where I leave off. My supervisor was good in assuring me that it's her problem, not mine as far as making sure things get done while I'm gone, but it still makes me a little anxious because I do tend to like having control of things!!!
  • Do your husbands/partners know about "pregnancy brain"?? I made a reference to my husband last night about it and I swear he thought I just made it up lol.
  • That’s so funny! My husband has been getting all kinds of pregnancy-related reels on his feeds and he actually mentioned pregnancy brain to me first. I feel like we have both been learning a lot from reels, but we should probably read an actual evidence-based book or website soon 😆
  • @watermelonsunshine that's cute, I think my husband has mostly been getting baby related products. He showed me this cute backpack/head pillow thing for when baby starts trying to walk... Obviously won't need that for a long time but at least we're getting ideas!!
  • Hi! Is anyone else struggling with not feeling pregnant?? I’m currently 12+3. I have my first OB appointment Monday. I have had 3 early scans with my RE and everything was great at those. The last was at 8 weeks. I’ve only had mild symptoms (same with my previous 2 pregnancies) but doubt keeps creeping into my mind. The past few days I’ve pretty much had zero symptoms at all.
    Me: 31
    DH: 32

    Married: Sep 2012
    TTC #1: Jan 2015
Baby A (via IUI due to MFI): Sep 2016 born at 35+6

Surprise but very welcome + on 5/16/2019, EDD 1/25/2020
  • @bosslady925 I was feeling exactly the same way. Then it felt real again for a while after my 12 week scan then the doubt creeped back in. Now I’m 16 weeks and my bump is growing and it definitely feels more real.
  • @bosslady925 Yes, definitely! The doubts are almost worse this time around. I think because what I remember most from my last pregnancy is being big and huge and waddling around lol, not these early days. I’m really looking forward to when I start to feel kicks and movement bc having that daily reassurance is so nice!!
  • We got invited to a Super Bowl party, any ideas what snack(s) would be good to bring but also maybe somewhat healthy-ish? 😅 Usually for this I always make things with a lot of bacon and pepperoni, but I’ve been trying to avoid eating those or hot dogs or sausage during pregnancy, they just don’t sound good.
  • @watermelonsunshine A fruit or veggie platter could be good! Maybe with some kind of dip.

@watermelonsunshine I’ve been craving and making a lot of hummus lately. You could make that with some pita bread or crackers and some veggies? Or pretzel bites, and mustard and beer cheese? I’ve made that before and it was really good. Or mini quesadillas? Could be veggie or meat? Now, I’m hungry. 🙃
  • Good ideas! Now I’m hungry too :)
  • @watermelonsunshine I don’t watch football typically, but I watch the Super Bowl every year simply as an excuse to have a bunch of yummy snacks! Cowboy Caviar is always one of my go-to’s (I like to have it with scoops tortilla chips), and buffalo chicken pinwheels! https://blackberrybabe.com/2016/01/12/buffalo-chicken-pinwheels/
  • @bigworldlittleg oh I do love cowboy caviar! It’s been so long since I’ve had it. That’s a great idea!
