It seemed time to start a master name thread! So all things baby names, what you love what you don't, what you're thinking for these little June babies etc!ย
I will go first, I don't have a single girl name that feels right this time around ๐ญ I *always* have a girl name that feels right and I typically struggle more with boys names but this time around, I have boys names that all seem somewhat iffy even though I love them, and zero girls names.ย I had Bronwyn, Elesi and Elsbeth on my baby name list last year but none of them seem any good now. Bleh.ย
Cute names!! Husband and I landed on a name this week, funny enough we actually turned to ChatGPT for help. We were inspired by 1960s names under three syllables that werenโt in the top 200 for boys, and AI helped us do the backend research vs digging through countless blogs or research sites. Suppose thatโs a modern way to name a baby in 2025 ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
I think we are pretty settled on a boys name, despite hardly talking about it. ๐ But we came to a conclusion fast. As for a girl's name, we have about 3-4 to choose from that we love. Which is funny because I'm still team blue. But our bases are covered. Lol can't believe in little over a week, we'll know! ๐ณ๐ฅฐ๐ผ๐ถ
@shieldmaiden95 I'm so excited for you to finally know!! I trust your intuition if you think you're having a boy though! I'm nearly certain I am though I'm not going to officially find outย Maybe struggling more with names comes with the territory of baby number four ๐ซ ย
I'd be afraid chatgp would feed me a bs statistic but I could try lolย
@kalesix3 idk. I kinda feel like it maybe a girl. But I really want a boy. ๐ But last time I really thought it was a girl and it wasn't. So we'll see. ๐๐ย
I'm pretty sure we have enough names we like to name atleast 6 more kids easily. ๐๐ย
@shieldmaiden95 that's always the reason I doubt myself too, do I feel it's one of the other organically or do I want one more than the other? I have always side eyed myself in the past but this time I truly do not want anything but a healthy happy soul, I have two girls and a boy and I would truly be so happy for either. I have zero hunches about your baby though, I'm so glad the anatomy scan is flying up on you so you can finally know!ย
We always have an easier time with girl names. And once again we're pretty confident on a girl name but floundering on a boy name, despite already having 3 girls and only 1 boy. All our kids have 4 letter names which started incidentally but we'd like to continue it. Debating between Jude, Owen, Liam, and Beau. But really not 100% on any. Team green so we'd like 1 name for both sexes ready
Weโve always struggled agreeing on ย boys names and had multiple girls names we both liked! It was quite the ordeal the first time and here we go again trying to find another boy name! It seemed like with the boy names we knew so many people with names we could have used or you know too many annoying people/kids with common names ๐ย
@kmbeit same, girls names are just so much easier for some reason, I feel like there's more subtly or something. I would probably do all nature names for boys but my partner doesn't like those. Our top contender this time was going to be Cassian and I love it but it just doesn't feel super right for this baby, and the other favorite name starts with the same letter as my son's name and ugh I just don't love that, I don't want to start a matching trend with boys. And then there's the boy name we picked with my last baby and I still love it but it doesn't feel right this time either. It's truly a conundrum. Usually we struggle to find one single boys name we love and this time we have truly so many that meet all our criteria aaaaaand not a single one feels like 'the one'ย ๐ญ With my two daughters I just KNEW what their names were, it was crystal clear and with my son we only had one name that we both somewhat liked but with this baby everything just seems bleh. I hope something grows on me soon ๐ฉ
@knittingmama4 I struggle with popular names so out of all your list I'd go with Beau! Beauregard was actually on my name list with my last baby!ย
I 2nd loving Beau! I love unique names, and try to go down more that route lย
Both hubs and I used to work at a dog kennel..... So between people you know, and people's dogs names.... Really takes a stab at the list. ๐๐๐ย
@kalesix3 yes! I agree! My husband thinks all my names are weird or strange lol but the ones heโs suggests ๐คช itโs definitely interesting coming to an agreement!ย
@shieldmaiden95 I had to laugh for real over your comment about working at the kennel! ๐คฃ
@kmbeit omg I know exactly what you're saying ๐ though I will say my partner chilled the everliving heck out about names the last few years and he's waaaay easier to discuss them with. When I was pregnant with our son he would immediately veto everything with no reason behind why, it was infuriating. He's much more reasonable now which is good because the naming rules we make up for ourselves give us enough trouble haha.ย No short names, no popular names, nothing that anyone had in highschool for him apparently lol, no Bible names, no family names, nothing that doesn't have a profound meaning, nothing overtly from pop culture, and nothing that sounds made up. We can basically just count on obscure Latin names and surnames from hundreds of years ago to work for us and nothing else ๐ @shieldmaiden95 I think working with pets especially would be so hard because there are so many associations with names that way ๐ซ ๐ซ
The struggle is real to name things after working there. ๐ Pets, and children. After knowing easily 700+ dogs and their owners, then everyone else we both know outside of that. ๐ย
