2nd Trimester Morning Sickness??

Hello!  Sorry if I missed this discussion on another post.  I searched through some but the website has also been acting up.

Anyway, I am currently 19 + 3 and for the past few days have had the WORST morning sickness I could possibly imagine.  This is especially crazy to me because I got through the first trimester relatively easily.  Everywhere I look I see "Oh the second trimester is the HONEYMOON PERIOD.  Your morning sickness will go away and you'll feel so much better!"

I feel insane because my first trimester was not at all what I expected.  I thought I'd be sick all the time, fatigued, miserable.  I wasn't.  And because I struggled for years with infertility (this is an IVF pregnancy) I honestly started to worry something was wrong with me or the baby because I WASN'T sick.

Now I feel the worst I've ever felt.  Horrible migraines, constant vomiting, bone-weary fatigue, pain in my tummy when I sneeze or move wrong, etc.

I've already gone to my OB to get checked out (I suffer from chronic migraine anyway, but worry about hbp, etc, when I get such awful, constant headaches lately.)  Everyone keeps telling me I'm fine and the baby is fine and I'm panicked over nothing.  So I guess I'm not looking for advice, but solidarity.

I'm just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience?  Are there any other second trimester mamas out there who are finding the second way worse than the first?  Thanks.  <3

Re: 2nd Trimester Morning Sickness??

  • It's definitely not uncommon to feel super sick in second trimester. With my first, morning sickness lasted the entire pregnancy, and lots of dizziness, although some days were better than others. Every pregnancy is so very different.

  • So sorry you are struggling! I’m 18+3 and still taking Zofran everyday for “morning” (all day) sickness. I’ve tried going off of it a couple of times since reaching 2nd trimester… disaster. Right there with you waiting for the honeymoon period. This is an IVF pregnancy for me too - the worrying never ends apparently.

Hope you feel some relief ASAP! ❤️
  • Yes!! My second trimester has been ROUGH. I take zofran every morning before I get out of bed.
  • Ditto on the migraines/headaches and nausea in 2nd trimester. I had a brief break from the nausea but it's returned in the last couple weeks. It helps to be snacking so that I'm not ever really hungry - being hungry seems to make it worse. But I hate it lol
  • Ugh, yes! Mine has continued into the 2nd trimester.
  • I am 27 weeks pregnant and still have nausea and sickness. My morning sickness hit at 6 weeks on the dot and in my misery, I started googling remedies, desperate to feel better. I heard about "No to Morning Sickness Tea" somewhere online and I love that the ingredients are all natural. This gave me a lot of relief from my nausea and helped me feel human again!
