Upcoming Appointments: Regular OB next week and pending 3hr glucose as I failed my 1 hr today (womp womp)
How are you feeling?: good! My hip pain has subsided and now I just have some wonky shoulder/arm nerve tingly pain haha
Rants/Raves: rant- i failed the 1 hour glucose test today, boo.
Rave - we went out for dinner with a group of friends NYE and then to one of their houses to hang out afterwards and she made me a yummy mocktail
Questions: so at my last OB appt I said I didn't want to labor/push while laying on my back and asked if they supported other positions. Has anyone delivered in alternate positions? My first was an all but induction with pitocin and IV pain meds. My second came fast and while I was standing in the hospital shower (unplanned water birth lol)
GTKY: did you make a new years resolution or intention? I'm going to try to read 85 books (did 78 this year). Curious to see how maternity leave/newborn life affects those numbers
My next appointment is Jan 22nd and hubby wants to come. 🥰
My feelings change a lot. I'm not consistently feeling good or bad. This past week I have been in deep sadness and crying a ton. Can't shake it and have felt stuck in a dark place but no external factors are causing it. I reached out to friends describing what I'm experiencing and they all said it sounds like depression. I read online that vitamins can help mood, and I haven't taken my prenatal vitamins in months so I'm going to hopefully get back into a routine taking them. And I found an oral spray online for grief and deep sadness and the reviews were saying it's actually helpful so I plan on trying that as well. It's cold outside but if it were warmer, I'd try to be out in the sun more. I' sure it would help.
Over Christmas my family visited my mother for the week and I got into a series she likes called The Way Home. It's interesting to me and I like having a shared interest with my mom.
Question: Does anyone else feel deep sadness and have lots of unexplainable crying during pregnancy? A couple of my friends said they felt this way too but I guess they kept it to themselves.
new years resolution or intention? Yeah, to try to speak more positively cause my hubby said I have a lot of negative opinions to share. 🙃 I found a resource that suggests instead of saying something like "I hate how aches and sore I am and I just want to be done with oregnancy already!" (For example) to say "I'm excited to feel better after Baby's born!" Instead and to flip complaints into desires using the phrase "I would love" like, "I would love to spend the day relaxing without having any tasks to get done."
@ksd20 I had pre-eclampsia with #1 and had to be in bed with a catheter and lines hooked up to me during labor. Pain was unbearable and I eventually asked for an epidural. I pushed for 2 hours, it was exhausting. #2 & #3 I had homebirths and I paced around the house during labor. Once I got to transition, I stopped walking and leaned on the arm of a couch for support during contractions and pushing. I guess it was a standing sort-of squat? Those babies were born within 1 and 3 hours, from the time that I knew I was in labor until birth. And pushing was quick. I have friends who've homebirthed and they all have different favorite positions and activities during labor. Any non-upright position is much more painful for me when the contractions come.
@allfacestheoaks do you have a way to talk to a therapist about these feelings or let your OB team know? After going through mourning and depression I found a lot of help through my therapist (and low dose medication). It could be hormonal with pregnancy changes and I've heard of women having worse PPD if symptoms start while still pregnant. And it starting because of/during pregnancy doesn't make it any less important to your overall health. I hate when symptoms get brushed off because "oh you're just pregnant"
How are you feeling?: Anxious about a lot but trying to put a positive spin on it. The negativity and worries have been getting the best of me. Brain fog is constant and I’m so tired. Work motivation has been low I just want to lay in bed all day. @allfacestheoaks I have been feeling more down, walks have been super helpful and I highly suggest therapy as well. I also was able to go back on my depression and anxiety supplements called the Fullest in my third trimester and it’s been helping a lot.
Rants/Raves: Rave - I feel the baby moving SO much now it’s crazy. I can see him move just looking at my belly which is sooo wild. I’m laughing at my past self week 17 who just wanted to feel him move. Doing daily mobility stretching is still amazing. Wearing belly bands when I remember helps with my back pain. Relying on my husband to do more for me and asking for more help. Also we went on our hospital tour on Friday and are starting child birth classes this week so I’m feeling like I’m really in the final stages.
Rant - getting so full so fast and I’ve had a few nights I couldn’t lay down for bed yet due to feeling SO full.
Questions: when is too early to pack the hospital bag? What pump is everyone getting?
GTKY: did you make a new years resolution or intention? New Year’s resolutions were hard this year since we don’t know how much this baby will rock our world and I want to be realistic. One of my goals was still showing up for my people even though I have a lot going on. 2024 was a whirlwind and I was much more selfish and introverted than I would like to be. Also better communication and time with my husband. We just got married and as newlyweds embarking on parenting will be a challenge but if we can stay united and I can remember to be kind to him when I’m in it we will hopefully get through it.
@eclaire90 yeah I've been doing smaller meals (especially dinner) and then a snack before bed because I just can't comfortably eat as much at a time. I'm probably going to pack my hospital soon-ish as I've gone into labor around 38 weeks with both my kids. Just my clothes & toiletries, baby clothes, and snacks for after delivery. Then I'll make a list of all the last minute things to grab like phone charger. I just got my pump prescription today but I think I'm going to wait for my registry completion discount to get the Willow (again) and then submit it to insurance for reimbursement.
