Oof names are a tough subject for my family! I have like 9-10 names that I love (think old and “traditional”) and my husband hates them all. We have tried Name Genius and BabyName but nothing has really stuck. Last time we agreed on only one boy name and we thought girl names would be easier. Definitely not the case! Anyone that has any better ways to try to find names we both like I’m all ears!
The only name we both liked was Olivia- but it’s like the most popular name or in the top 10 for the past few years and we don’t want her to be the second or third Olivia in her class.
Kind of weird suggestion, but you could try ChatGPT. You can give it parameters like "give me 30 names that are similar in style to Olivia but are less used currently and matches siblings names of XYZ" you could even give specific syllable numbers or something. This is what it gave me initially:
Here are 30 girl names that share a similar style to Olivia (classic, elegant, and timeless) but are less commonly used in the U.S. today:
Amelia
Aurora
Clara
Isabella
Adelaide
Vivienne
Seraphina
Eloise
Georgia
Beatrice
Eliza
Emmeline
Arabella
Lillian
Cecelia
Madeleine
Penelope
Juliette
Evangeline
Anastasia
Isadora
Felicity
Matilda
Cecilia
Viviana
Mariana
Helena
Lucia
Francesca
Rosalind
These names capture a refined, classic feel but are less widely used than Olivia, making them stand out with a touch of elegance.
We decided on a name today and I'm really excited about it. I've been imagining using this name for over 5 years. It was one of the reasons for my gender disappointment with my son (although I just love his name now too lol). We've decided on Magnolia 🩷
