Definitely recommend Expecting Better by Emily Oster. She breaks down what the research actually says about various risks in pregnancy, common old wives tales, etc in an easy-to-understand, non-judgemental way. It helps to take away a lot of the fear and assumptions in pregnancy, and provides you with knowledge so you can make more informed decisions.ย
What to Expect When You're Expecting is a classic and you can't go wrong there.
I'd like to read Nurture, How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will Talk, and The Whole-Brained Child.
I also loved Expecting Better! I liked Cribsheet by her, too. Happiest Baby on the block was helpful as a first time mom. I always think itโs interesting to read about parenting in other cultures and enjoyed Bringing Up Bebe and Happiest Kids in the World.ย
