I’m posting this just in case someone is going through the same thing because this solution totally took me by surprise! Not looking for advice.
my baby has always been bottle fed due to breast feeding issues. She’s also been quite the aggressive feeder too even though she’s always been on the lower side of ounces per day. She’s always liked a faster flow.
One day she got fussy and wouldn’t have much. She was putting tons of toys in her mouth to chew. Thought it was teething but it scared me because she’s been doing 20 oz a day average since 7 mo and then she went to 12 oz. She’s also been sleeping through the night since 6.5 mo and was now waking up for an extra feed to make about 16oz a day. I was starting to worry about hydration. This continued for almost 2 weeks and she was so fussy all the time. She’s not a fussy baby ever!
I swear I searched the whole internet and looked through Reddit. No one ever posted what their found solution was or just kind of rubbed it off as self weaning.
One night while she was taking her “extra” feed, she pulled away every couple seconds and then would try again on her own a few times over 3 oz almost like the flow was too fast. We’ve been on a Dr browns level 3 for 3 months.
So the next day I try sippy cup transition nipples and now she’s back to 20 Oz a day. I haven’t used a sippy cup top for an entire month! I can’t believe that’s why she was refusing her bottles! She wanted to be able control the flow better as she’s been developing towards more independence.
