Taking baby places

Who has taken their baby to the store?

Lol this seems so silly especially when I’m on baby #4 but unlike my other 3 I have not wanted to take my little guy ANYWHERE. We have only left the house 2 times since he’s been born… once for my 2 week pp appointment and once today to take my other kids to the $ store just to get them out of the house. I didn’t take my baby in, he stayed with Dad in the car. I’m anxious about him catching something or him crying while out and about. Hes a Velcro baby, but hates the baby wrap… he’s also heavy so carrying him is hard on my back haha

Re: Taking baby places

  • We’ve had doctors appointments and took baby boy shopping yesterday to get some Christmas present. As long as hubby has the cart or stroller moving, he’s a happy camper.

Hubby goes back to work next week and I highly doubt I’ll have the guts to take him out by myself anytime soon.

I think strangers are less likely to approach when both parents are there. If I’m by myself l, I don’t want (no offence intended) boomer ladies approaching and inviting themselves to try and touch him etc.

we did have one little girl get really excited about “the baby” in our doctors office who was starting to get a little close imo but her mom stepped in right away and pulled her attention back

  • @mitchip I totally get the older ladies lol it has happened to us here and there with our older children. It’s always awkward and I have a hard time standing firm with anyone, unfortunately!

about the doctors trip… we love a conscious momma that watches their children like that 👏🏻
  • We’ve been all over the place since Day 1.
Day 2 we hosted Thanksgiving at our house and everyone got a chance to hold baby. Day 3 was a doctors appointment and walk to a neighbor’s house to meet them. Later that evening we went to a restaurant and grocery shopping.
Day 6 went to a bowling alley/beer garden to meet more family.
It’s been nonstop since. So grateful this little bub loves car and stroller rides.
For the record, this is a baby #4 for me but I’ve been pretty up and about after all my kids. The only difference this time around is my other babies were born in warmer weather.

  • Our lil guy is 2 weeks old and we have taken him to a number of appointments so far (bodywork specialist, chiro, pediatrician). Today was the first time in the grocery store - I took him solo too. Went a lot smoother than expected.
  • Wow, go you Mamas.  Baby girl went to nicu for 8 days to visit bro, all their dr, gram house, and to get our photos done.  We are being probably overly cautious as ftp, but I already said I wont be attending the large Christmas with all my cousins kids.  I have already been suctioning And doing the drops for my little dragon breathers since they got a cold for what feels like forever.
  • I think the most important is to be comfortable with it and the level of risks. It's definitely a personal decision.
As stated previously, we are also overly cautious, but we had to spend so many weeks in and out of the ER because my first got sick with one thing than another (jaundice, covid, eye infection, multiple otitis, etc.).  My sister wasn't as cautious with her two children and it all went fine for her. So there's no "right" way to do things in my opinion.
