How are things going? Any questions?: I reached out to our clinic to make sure all the paperwork is ready to go for our next FET and they tried to tell me we "might have to hold my cycle with birth control again for a few days due to the holidays." :s Ma'am you told me the birth control was likely the reason we had to cancel the last cycle! It'll ultimately come down to when CD1 hits and whether they'll let me start at that time, but I think if they push the bc route then I'm just gonna have to call it and wait for January. Cheers to 2025, I guess.

R/R: @peppyj9 FWIW At this point I almost never respond to the one-off posts in this forum, especially if it looks like they should be in the 1st Tri or BMBs instead. I will report people who post HPTs because I know those can be hurtful to others, but beyond that I don't engage. If you enjoy the QFPs and replies and all that, by all means continue! When this board was more active in 2022-early 2023 it was commonplace. To me it just looks so exhausting, especially when 99% of them are not going to stick around and join the board.

  • @aisleofviewtwo I lurked quite a bit in 2022 and can confirm there were some spicy people replying to one-offs! I was pleasantly surprised to come back to the board tonight and see it’s still pretty close to what it was back then even if it’s a little less trafficked.

No questions. I was pretty adamant when we started TTC that I wouldn’t chart this time around. I’m already ruminating over this decision. I don’t have it in me to temp right now and OPKs didn’t work very well for me.

    R/R:
Rave - I had a delightful time catching up with an old colleague and mentor last night. I invested a lot of time in my professional network over the last 5 years or so and it’s nice when I have moments where I can see it paying off.
Rant - Pretty sure I have strep. I had hoped to get one more try in last night since I wasn’t positive when O happened but I went downhill pretty quickly and had to go to bed. Now here I am unable to sleep and my throat is on fire 😣 I’m bummed I’ll have to cancel on a friend for an event we bought tickets to tonight. Plus I really don’t have time to miss work right now. There’s just too much going on.
  • @pinkkillersheep Yeah I think the core of the forum is the same. The biggest change is that there are so few of us that we determined it didn't make sense to keep having all the specific threads for TFAS, IF Testing/Treatment, etc. But please feel free to re-launch at any time! As for temping/charting, I totally hear you on not wanting to overcomplicate things. Back when I was still temping pre-IVF, I got to where I woke up like clockwork at 2am because I was so anxious about getting a good oral BBT reading. (Talk about counterproductive!) Depending on what your issues have been with temping in the past and if you continue to feel drawn to it, you might look into the Tempdrop armband. I used it for a while and it was super simple: just turn on the sensor before bed and upload the results to the app each morning. The temps are different from  I only stopped using it because the battery ran low and I've been too lazy to figure out a replacement.

Midweek rant, because that's apparently the kind of week I'm having: My clinic just informed me that they're moving to a batching system for FETs starting in 2025 (but lab is closed the last two weeks of 2024, so basically now). I'm so frustrated because they told me it was OCP use that threw off my last attempt at a modified natural cycle, but now with batching I'm all but guaranteed to be on OCPs before every damn cycle. I feel like they sold me on the benefits of a natural cycle and I've been waiting patiently to get that, and now they're putting in so many barriers that it's all but assured I'll end up in a controlled cycle anyway. Just feels like a lose-lose.

How are things going? Any questions?: things are going about the same. I think were timing things well enough and just hoping for the best!

R/R: I'm just feeling extra tired lately. My holiday joy is waning as things stay to feel more like work than play. I for once in the last few weeks have zero plans this weekend and while I'm looking forward to it, it's mostly going to be spent cleaning and putting stuff away. This past week my house exploded with wrapping and online orders coming in and, I'm just tired.

@aisleofviewtwo that's fair about responding to the one offs. When I was most active in 2019 there were a lot more people and it began a source of comedy with everyone joining in on the threads. I get that there's not many people on the board now so it makes less sense but it really is annoying how many strangers get on and understand enough to find the board but violate all the rules, don't look at any other threads and they all keep asking the same thing, it's ridiculous! In those moments I sort of can't help myself by being like "another one" but, it very well is a waste of my time. As for the IVF stuff, I'm sorry that keep throwing wrenches in the spokes and changing things up on you. That's incredibly frustrating. I haven't gone down that route so I don't know the ins and outs, but have you looked into other clinics? Would it be possible to have everything transferred to a new clinic/doctor? I don't mean to sound like it's just an easy solution but if you're unhappy with the way things are being run it might be worth looking into?

@pinkkillersheep welcome! I'll have to check you on the welcome board, but in the meantime, that's great you had a positive interaction with a colleague and it sucks you have strep! I hear you on not wanting to chart. I was just roughly looking at the calendar for the first several months and finally in October I decided it was time to start using OPK's and putting a little more intention into it. It's such an exhausting process though. I'm tired of peeing in cups 😖

  • @peppyj9 I can totally see how replies could be a source of catharsis and comedic relief in the right group. I also imagine it could be very lonely to go at alone. So at the very least I wanted to give you a heads up that I don't have the energy to join in.

As for switching clinics, I've considered it. There's only one other option covered by my insurance and a quick read-through of reviews doesn't make me confident they'd be better. (At least one person said the clinic outright refused to accept embryos from an outside lab, and I definitely don't relish the thought of going back to square one with another retrieval...) I did get to have a long chat with my nurse, who I love, on Thursday, and she explained a few options we have moving forward to try to get better follicle suppression while on OCPs waiting for a batch to start. So that's a glimmer of hope. I may book a consult with the other clinic for a few months from now so we have a Plan B if everything else falls through.

On a happier note, looks like you got excellent timing this month! Fingers and toes crossed for you!
  • I ended up being negative for strep, flu, and Covid so it’s just a regular obnoxious cold. Now I just need to distract myself for another week or so to test. Last time around I planned really fun meals to make the time go by but between holidays and this cold that seems unlikely.

@aisleofviewtwo Sorry it’s been such a difficult journey. From what I’ve heard about IVF during my last time on this board it seemed like there was never a great option but if you found a person at the clinic you trusted it at least made the process of navigating it more bearable. I may have to look into the armband suggestion. I’ll give it a few cycles before getting too in the weeds. I both appreciated the reassurance of knowing exactly when things happened but also had so much anxiety about tracking everything at all times.

@peppyj9 +1 on wanting a chill weekend with nothing much to do. Hopefully you get some space to rest amid the cleaning and whatnot. I still have dozens of pictures of OPKs on my phone from 2021 and trying to read those tea leaves. My cycle was so irregular (it varied from 19-40 days) that it seemed like I had a bunch of small spikes and left me more confused. Things are a bit more regular now but I can also tell I’ve hit an age where my body is working REALLY hard to ovulate so I’m super paranoid about the whole thing.
  • @aisleofviewtwo glad you were given a glimmer of hope and here's hoping the prices goes more smoothly going forward! 🤞🏻

@pinkkillersheep happy to hear you don't have strep! Not that colds are any fun 😕 hope you feel better soon! I can totally see how tracking could make things confusing, especially if you're not super regular. Here's to keeping distracted until we can test!
