So my doctor was talking to me and my partner about being very cautious about who is around the baby after birth because it is going to be winter which people tend to get sick. I was curious if any other moms were okay with having visitors in the hospital and if you plan to have any rules like wear a mask?
Re: Hospital Visitors
When I had my daughter in February 2023, the hospital had a sign at the doors going into the maternity ward that had a bunch of rules due to it being cold/flu season. Some of the rules were: No children under the age of 12 (unless they were a sibling), No more than 2 visitors in the room at a time, All visitors had to wear a mask (this was still in place from Covid), and it basically said that if you are feeling sick to leave. We really only had our immediate family come to the hospital and they wore masks most of the time. They took them off to take pictures but that was it. I know this time around the hospital is going to be less restrictive about the masks because the week after my daughter was born they got rid of the mask policy. We plan to have the same people come and visit, minus my parents because they are out of state and can't come until after he is born. I trust the people that are coming so I won't really have rules. I will say that the nurses I had were great and they told us that if we wanted someone to leave or if we didn't want someone to come they would be happy to be the bad guys and tell them to leave. You could maybe talk to them before people start showing up and see if they are willing to help if you get uncomfortable.
